Never haggle over a fair price. 5/17/2011

It was the end of the day and everyone was packing up. I was walking back to my car and I saw a man take a teapot out of the back of his truck and lay it on the ground. I asked him why I did not see it earlier. He said he put it back in the truck as everyone was asking him about it and he was tired of people low balling and insulting him. I asked to see it and he obliged. Upon examination I realized that he had an 1830s Sheffield plate teapot made by James Dixon. I asked him his price and he said firmly 195.00. I said fine. I paid him cash, thanked him and left the market. The next week I took it to GMZ Jewelers, my best kept secret for selling small antiques. They gladly paid me 500.00 for the piece. Moral of the story; Never haggle over a fair price. more

I always trust the appraisers at GMZ Jewelry. 5/13/2011

I was at, what I call, a trash to more trash sale when I was on a drive in up state New York. It was one of those auctions where the same people come every week to bid on an assortment of items ranging from garden tools to used furniture to Fisher Price toys. The featured item that day was a gold and diamond men’s ring. I was feeling pretty lucky and had a few extra dollars so I thought I would stay and bid on it. I knew that the gold content was worth at least 500.00 in today’s market, where I would start the bidding in hopes to scare off the competition. Well it worked. Everyone sat on their hands and I won it on the first bid. When I got home I brought it to GMZ Jewelry in New York. The appraiser said it was a fairly good quality one carat diamond and I was paid 1500.00 for the ring. A good one bid day at the auction. I always trust the appraisers at GMZ Jewelry. more

A classic Art Nouveau pendant. 5/10/2011

I was prodding through a thrift store one day as I often do and I came across an unique piece of jewelry. The thrift store manager must have thought well of it as it was in a showcase by the register. The design was a classic Art Nouveau pendant. It had an oval blue stone in the center flanked by two smaller stones of the same color and shape. It was asymmetric in shape and appeared to be silver. Upon examination I could not find any markings other that a small “c.” I purchased it for 25.00. The next week I brought it to GMZ Jewelry in New York after getting a couple of low offers elsewhere of close to what I paid. They told my that it was not silver but platinum with three sapphires and they paid me 1500.00 cash on the spot. GMZ Jewelry pays the highest prices in town. more

She was pleasantly surprised. 5/6/2011

My mother had this gold and diamond cuff link in her jewelry drawer. I asked about it one day and she told me that she found it and it has been in her box ever since. She had been putting off replacing the counter in her kitchen. I suggested that she take it to GMZ Jewelry and see what they would give her. I volunteered to take it for her. She was pleasantly surprised. They paid enough for the job to get started and I chipped in to pat for the rest. Since then she has sent me back three times with some unwanted jewelry. more

Very successful. 5/1/2011

After our mother passed we were left with an estate to settle. Our father was a very successful business man and had left the house and pretty much everything else to her. When going through the house we realized that she had over 50 years accumulation of jewelry and a lot of it was estate jewelry when she purchased it. We needed an expert. A friend of the family highly recommended we consult GMZ Jewelers. They came out to the house and examined the jewelry painstakingly for days. There final evaluation was in the mid 6 figure range. We had no idea that it was worth that much. GMZ really found us a windfall. more

They gladly paid me. 4/22/2011

The best. 4/18/2011

I make my living as a professional picker. I leave no stones unturned when it comes to finding something that I can make money with. If it is scrap metal, antiques, art, jewelry or anything else I have a market for it and I am the best at finding it cheap. Whenever I have any fine jewelry, watches or gold to sell I go to GMZ Jewelers first. They give me the best price with cash on the spot. No haggling at all. GMZ is my only place to sell Jewelry, watches and gold. more

I got it!!! 4/14/2011

It was just a gold chain that hung from a mans vest years ago from what I was led to believe. It looked and felt like gold but it was not marked anywhere that I could see. I brought it to GMZ Jewelry in New York to possibly sell it. They offered me 1250.00 for it. Not a hard decision to make. I got it from my house when I was a kid and used to play snake with it. Now I can buy as much better toy or even a real snake. more

Luckiest day I have had in some time. 4/11/2011

It seems like decades ago when I was walking along the main street in the town where we were vacationing and spied a gold chain in the street I scooped it up and realized that it had been run over a few times and was pretty messed up. It was pretty heavy so I stuck it in my pocket and brought it home. It stayed under the tray in my jewelry box ever since. One day when I was looking for a safety pin I came across it. I had heard that gold prices were high so I brought it to work and, on my lunch hour, took it to GMZ Jewelry on 47th. I was paid 650.00 cash on the spot. That was the luckiest day I have had in some time. more

I sure feels good. 4/8/2011

I was at a rummage sale somewhere in upstate New York and purchased a box lot of costume jewelry for ten dollars. While sorting it out I came upon a silver ring with a gold stone surrounded by several small rhinestones or diamonds. I was not really sure. There were a couple of marks that were so worn I could not make them out. I brought the ring to GMZ Jewelry in New York and the friendly appraiser informed me that it was a platinum ring from the early 1900s with a topaz and diamonds. It was worth 1200.00 to them and they gave me cash on the spot. I sure feels good to win one now and then. more

I would only use this company in the future! 3/24/2011

I was selling some pieces of broken jewelry - I went to at least 3 gold buyers in the area and none of them offered a fair deal. Someone referred me to G M Z Jewelry Inc and I was absolutely delighted because they did a very good appraisal for the same items. I would only use this company in the future! more

Great jewelry buyers in New York 3/14/2011

It was the clumsiest piece that I have ever seen. We got this necklace from my aunt years ago because she hated it. So did we but we did not have the heart to tell her. It was made of big yellowing white beads with silver in between. My wife did not want to wear it and it was just laying around. Who knew that is was a vintage piece made from Ivory in the 1950s when Ivory was legal to sell and worth 450.00? GMZ Jewelry Inc. knew exactly. . more

Amazing 3/11/2011

While walking home from the library near my home, I spotted something on the ground. I bent over to pick it up it and saw that it was a gold coin with a familiar motif. It appeared to be an Elks Club symbol. It was very dingy and dirty it. It could have been laying there for years. I brought it home and cleaned it up until it shined like new. When I went to work in NY the following day I brought it along to show my friend at GMZ Jewelry. I brought it in at lunchtime. I was told that it was, in fact, a medallion from the BPOE and probably from the late 40s or early 50s and was a highly collectable and rare piece in 14 carat gold. They paid me 295.00 for it and I am happy. more

The best in New York 3/8/2011

I was very skeptical at first so they gave me a free appraisal. To my great surprise, my gold was not only well-handled, they told me my gold bracelet was worth more than I had claimed. WOW! G M Z Jewelry Inc - you are the best in New York! more

Great jewelry shop 3/7/2011

My wife was so upset when she lost one of the large gold and mother of pearl earrings I had given her when we first met. I was going to have the one made into something else like a necklace but because of its large size and odd shape that would not work well. My friend who works downtown in NYC told me about the folks at GMZ and said they could probably reproduce the matching one. I made an appointment and in a week had the pair complete and back to my wife. They did an excellent job. I will return to them for any future jewelry needs. more

Always great deal 3/2/2011

My neighbor has been selling vintage jewelry and watches to GMZ Jewelry Inc. for years. I often wondered how well he did until he told me he lost his job a year ago and I never picked up on it. He just stepped up his picking and never suffered a setback between what his unemployment paid and what he made selling to GMZ. I started doing the same thing, with his training, and I am averaging an extra 200.00 per week already. They pay the highest prices anywhere in NY. more
