Feel like Funny Farm was part of our family 8/22/2011

Both of my kids are the Funny Farm Kids. Still, several years after my youngest daughter graduated from Funny Farm, teacher Marcy, teacher Laura and The Funny Farm feel like part of our family. Funny Farm ELC offers very creative program that includes caring environment, learning through play, nature and environment awareness, theater, love of books and so much more. Funny Farm gave my kids a head start in many areas of our everyday life ? local history, gardening, charity, caring for animals, geography, poetry. Public elementary school still didn?t introduce many of these areas to my youngest daughter ? and she is already in the second grade. I always wondered at the amount of imagination and creativity the Funny Farm founder Marcy Wells brought to the kids. The school offers unique yearly events like plays, trips to the zoo, holiday celebrations, mother/me, father/me, grandparents/me events. The pre-school encourages parent participation and always makes every event fun. We have very fond memories about our time at Funny Farm and highly recommend the school to any family that cares about quality early education for their kids and wants to stay involved. more

You?d Have to be Crazy to Pass This School Up 8/20/2011

I don?t think there?s a better place to ?commit? your child! Marcy and the rest of the crew tackle real-world issues in a hands-on, kid-friendly way that not only teaches them about their world?it teaches them to be good citizens of it. Although I don?t have children, I?ve volunteered my time with Funny Farm for years because I believe in their quality programming and curriculum. (It only takes one visit to their Facebook page to see to see the creative activities the kids are doing and how much fun they?re having! No surprise that Marcy, the director, is winning national awards) I?m just sorry that my friends and family with preschool aged kids don?t live near enough to take advantage of it. And as a high school educator, I?m thankful that Funny Farm is giving kids a solid foundation. Makes my job so much easier! more

Learning: the way it should be taught! 8/19/2011

I'm a Funny Farm Kid! Atleast in my heart. I have experienced the ingenius and creative ways that the award winning Teacher Marcy teaches a child about values, respect, awareness of the world around them and how all this can impower their lives. They think it's just a lot of fun, but then find out they actually have input with their families and friends. That they know something and can add to the conversation. I love that they learn to love their planet and the people and animals that live here. How to protect it and how they, even as small as they are, can make a difference and do. When a Funny Farm Kid graduates from Pre-School and takes on public school, they are ready. We just hope the public schools can keep up with them! more

A hidden gem in preschools 11/9/2007

Funny Farm ELC is unlike any other childcare or preschool center out there. I almost hesitate to write a review in order to keep this unique treasure hidden. The school is relatively difficult to get into and has an extensive wait list, but you could get lucky. This is an extended-day preschool program, which works very well for busy families or families who see the value in extended learning. The program director/founder is a national award winner in early childhood education and all the teachers are extremely creative, down-to-earth, friendly, and professional. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a high-quality preschool program with loads of creativity and fun. Pros: Low teacher-child ratio, Creative curriculum, Collaborative parent relationships Cons: Long wait list more
