Not a discount store! 5/29/2009

In pricing a Canon HF10 camcorder, Fry's current price is nearly TWICE as much as Costco (under $600). So do not assume it is a discount store. This one purchase from Costco will pay for many years of their $50 annual fee. Also, look closely at Fry's return policy. They get a substantial fee for returned goods like the window air conditioner I'm going to have to return because it will not fit on our boat. This is not the case when you buy at Home Depot, Lowe's, and other such places who also give you more than one week to return it. Examine service closely before you buy on any electronics like Apple Computer, where you'd be better off buying direct from Apple at one of their retail stores and getting fantastic service from their Genius Bar far past the warrantee period. more

Worst Fry's 2/7/2009

Totally true. I've written Randy Fry and told him I go to this store when I want to be alone...because believe me, no sales rep will ever bother you with a "may I help you?". They obviously run the other way when they see a customer with a question. Better know what you're looking for before you go. more

HDTV 12/26/2007

I WENT TO PURCHESE A TV, AND WAS HELPED BY DAMETRIUS NELS ON . HE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL THE VARIOUS LCD , PLASMAS AND I PURCHESED A SALE ITEM. HE HAD PUT IT AWAY FOR ME, UPON RETURNING TO PICK IT UP, SOME HAD SOLD IT. THEY REPLACED IT WITH A BETTER MODEL FOR THE SAME SALE PRICE. I HAVE PURCHESED OTHER ITEMS FROM THIS STORE AND EACH SALESPERSON, THAT I'VE ENCOUNTERED HAD BEEN KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL. WALLY H. more

Large selection, good prices 3/25/2006

If you are in the market for something electronic, consider Fry's. The size of the place is almost overwhelming, but enables a large selection. There are always some deals going on each weekend, so you can often find some good prices on things, particularly software. However, because the place is so large, it is also pretty impersonal. I pretty much expect my Fry's experience to be self-service, unless I really have a burning question. Then, it's sometimes hard to find someone who can answer your question. Net, if you need something, it's a good B&M store, but don't expect too much help. more

It's big but customer service is not 3/16/2006

I would probably do better with an online shopping agent/vendor than go to Fry's and try to get my technical questions answered on a new product I needed to get. The deals are okay but I believe the Internet surfing and going to Mysimon or Amazon.com or Epinions.com would be far better and more helpful than a salesman at Fry's. When I say salesMAN I mean it -- doesn't appear to be any saleswomen around. more

Everything you need 11/12/2005

Fry's can be a bit overwhelming to navigate the first time you shop there, but it's worth it! They have a large selection of just about everything related to computers/electronics/home office as well as a large movie and game selection. Staff is helpful and seem to know their stuff. Prices are really good too. I don't think we've ever been dissapointed in a purchase from Fry's. more

Fun Store! 10/15/2005

I love going here due to the prices and the selection. They typically have all kinds of computer parts that I like to buy. Specially if you want to put a computer together from scratch. Remember though, this is good if you are missing a part, but may be cheaper online. Kind of far away for me but the selection is good........... Serves a good purpose. You never know quite what to expect them to be selling each time you visit, so it is good to stop by often to check out what they have - possibly a good place to buy gifts if you have the time and patience to look around. more

Great place, but don't expect service 9/28/2005

I love this place, the girlfriend doesn't. Says that there's not any customer service. This is true. She even accidently set off an alarm by trying to look at a digital camera. The salesman came over, shut it off without saying a word, and then quickly walked away! But, they've got Dance Dance Revolution available to play right inside the door, and I've made trips just to do that. more

Still great 9/23/2005

I read the last review, it said no customer service and the place doesnt feel like a business......its a computer store, if you dont know what your buying then go to somewhere like Radio Shack that wants to sell you something you dont need. I usually have no problems finding an employee to help me find something, but I dont use their knowledge or expertise in the computer field. Fry's always has what we need, Electronics, books, food, you name it they have it. Cheap too more

Massive electronics store, king of the area. 8/17/2005

Fry's is quite possibly the biggest computer store I have ever seen. But they don't stop there. They compete with Target, Wal-Mart, Borders, etc. They sell DVD's, Music, some books, Large home appliances, magazines, electronics, and they even have a cafe. The prices are sometimes fantastic, and they often sell stuff with good rebates. The staff is very busy, and you may take a long time waiting for help. The register lines are always fast, and they require you to show your receipt when you leave. A lot of people complain about this and the service, so if you don't need a lot of staff assistance, this is agreat place to shop. more

Fry's or converted hangar 6/19/2005

Of the six different Fry's I've been to this one is the worst. Customer service is sub-par. (I used to have a friend who worked there that told me him and other employees avoided the customers deliberately). The building is like a converted aircraft hangar, high ceilings and concrete floors with no effort towards making it more like a business atmosphere. Prices are cheap especially with the weekly ads they run, but that's the only thing that brings customers all they way out to their remote location. more
