Decided to enjoy dinner at the bar on a Thursday night, rather than sitting in traffic. I was impressed with the atmosphere, my friendly bartender and the food! The bar was quite busy, but rather than striking up a conversation with the stranger next to me, I enjoyed watching an old black and white french film. I ordered mussels as my main course and must say, they are the best in town! Is it rude to ask for a straw to enjoy the sauce left in my bowl? Pros: mussels and atmosphere Cons: restroom is on the second floor more

Food Critics Please Read 8/5/2009

I think it's funny how all of the self proclaimed food critics like to bash this place, and then give mad praise. I have decided to step out of my daily grind and join the ranks of these so called critics, so, here it goes..... Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: Nada more

can't be beat 7/28/2009

I just went to FAB for the first time two weeks ago for a friend's rehearsal dinner and I was so blown away that I actually went back for dinner the next week!!! Pros: rooftop, events, food, service too many to name more

we were impressed 7/27/2009

Decided to check this place out. don't understand the mixed reviews, because we had a great time! I had no idea you can dine on the roof! The roof rocks!!!!!! Service was very detailed and friendly. Our waiter recommended a fish - skate? This was the best dish I've tried! I highly recommend this place. We even showed up in jeans and a tee shirt, with no problem! I didn't get the attitude I was! This really is a friendly place!!!!! Pros: rooftop Cons: valet is in garage more

solid 6/16/2009

this is the place that continues to earn its good reputation instead of trying to live off its legacy. excellent food, several large private rooms, nice rooftop view. more

There seem to be some problems here 2/26/2009

Well, I put off writing because there is one thing really cool going on at FAB. The upstairs patio is a wonderful space. You're below the tall buildings around you and it feels kind of eerily like NYC. In fact the whole building/location is sort of NYCish. I have to say I'm anxious to get back to the patio when the weather warms up. But, they're supposed to be all about food and unfortunately that's where they take a tumble. Three out of four of our appetizers were way over salted. Tragic. We flagged down the waiter and told him there was a problem in the kitchen. So, the mains came out under salted. What gives? I must give props to the owner. He came over to make general conversation and we commented on the salt problem. He gave us all a free dessert. Very kind. We didn't expect it but quite frankly it was a very good move on his part since this salt issue is kind of a big deal. I noticed that someone else mentioned it too. Bottom line is I do want to sit up on that fabulous patio this summer but definitely will not be eating in the dining room. Pros: Fantastic Upstairs Patio Cons: Food is not so spiffy more

Major Disappointment! 1/20/2009

I thought I might impress my parents during their visit to Atlanta over Christmas with a nice, expensive dinner. My neighbor suggested FAB. Unfortunately, it was an absolutely embarrassing experience for me. Our server spoke fragmented English and picked his nose at the table. We waited almost twenty minutes for our first round of drinks. The only thing worse than the lack of any semblance of service was the food. My mother ordered the monkfish which she couldn't eat because it was so incredibly salty and smelled like sneakers filled with Bleu cheese six weeks after a good soaking from Hurricane Katrina. My father had a miniscule briquette of beef that was considered to be their petit filet. They translated medium rare as extra well done cooked with a weight on top. (The only moisture on the table was the melting ice in our empty water glasses.) My father never received the truffle potatoes or the side of spinach that he ordered. On top of this, we were practically forced out the door by the host. He was incredibly rude and dismissive. I actually requested to speak to the manager/owner, and then I was informed that he was the owner - ""What's your problem?"" ""We were going to close an hour ago,"" he informed me. And guess what - his name is actually FAB! What an unsuccessful egomaniac! I emphatically disuade anyone from patronizing this establishment. Pros: Hours of operation Cons: Service, food, management more

Top Notch Service 12/11/2008

Recently dined at F.A.B for dinner and had a very nice time. Although I hate that my beloved Brasserie Le Coze would ever relocate from the stately Lenox address to a downtown venue, once inside, I enjoyed myself. I had a glass of champagne at the bar with my wife before we sat down for dinner and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, despite it being a little empty for a Friday night. I guess thats the recession for you. Our server for the evening was a young woman named Mila, and if I ever go back I will ask for her everytime. My wife and I only get so many nights out together and when we do something always goes wrong. Mila, however, made this very rare night out for us one of the best. We shared the duck pate, which was very good and of course I had to have the skate wing, which was also beautiful and reminded me of the many nights at Le Coze. My wife had the roast chicken, perfectly cooked and moist. For dessert, we had a hard time making a decision, but again Mila came to the rescue. She recommended the Apple Tart, also one of my favorites from long ago. It's good to see that some traditions are able to be carried on. Obviously, the kitchen cares enough to know the history behind that food and so did our server. I miss the old Le Coze, but I will definately come back to F.A.B., it is a gem hidden in downtown but people need to remember. Pros: Memories, Food, Service Cons: What was so wrong with Buckhead? more

Tasty Food, Drinks Could Use Some Work! 9/28/2008

BEST DUCK EVER! 7/27/2008

I went to FAB late last night. We had a little problem finding it since our GPS didn't think that ""Ivan Allen Jr. BLVD"" existed, but happened to stumble upon it. There's a huge sign on top that says ""French American Brasserie"" so that was helpful. The valet parking was fine but one of the valet gentlemen was rather crudely hitting on me indirectly. We were seated fairly quickly given that it was 9:30pm on a Saturday night, and our blonde waitress was wonderful. We were evidently one of her few pleasant tables, as evidently some rather unpleasant people had been showing up all week for their Restaurant Week $25/3 course special. Pros: Duck, Escargot, beautiful interiors, good foreign music after closing time, seated quickly without reservation Cons: bad choice of cheesy club music before 11pm when they close more

Fabulous Food, Bad Service 4/27/2008

Ate at FAB over the weekend. First I want to say that the food was AMAZING! I wish I could say the same for the service. We had a drink at the bar before dinner and the bartender was unengaging and unfriendly. Once we sat down, the pattern continued. Our server seemed much more concerned about the table down from us and we were an after thought. The food came out WAY to quick especialy since we ordered a bottle of wine and were trying to have relaxing dinner. It took the waiter 20 MINUTES to come pick up our credit card and check to pay. We were pretty irritated by the time we left. I defintely got the feeling that they cater to the regulars from the Buckhead location and we were the outsiders. Not a great way to treat potential new customers at a new location. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

FABulous French Fare 1/6/2008

Our experience at French American Brasserie was excellent. I enjoyed the lobster special which was a lobster tail in braised garlic butter. The lobster was very tender and not overcooked. My husband had the flank steak which was cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed the broccolini and garlic fries. For dessert, we had the chocolate covered strawberries and the apple galette. Pros: Valet Parking more

It was good - not great 12/19/2007

I must not have had the same experience as the other reviewers. We enjoyed the different offerings on the menu, but were not blown away by anything in particular. The restaurant space is huge and gorgeous. The bar is well positioned in the middle of the action. I do want to go back when it is warm to check out the roof top bar - but will probably not spend another $100+ on dinner there. Pros: Bar Cons: Pay for Valet more

Below Average 11/22/2007

The people that work here look really unhappy. I've never seen so many fake looking smiles. I realize in the restaurant business you're on a stage but the people here are like the ""Plan 9"" of restaurant actors. 5 bucks for parking. my first and last time here. They should have left the idea of Le Coze dead at Lenox, Gilbert is rolling over in his grave. Food is either over salted or way too bland. All the old unattentive servers from Le Coze are here....Hell I think one is the Manager. This place is the best way in Atlanta to waste 100 on a meal for 2. I'm never going back. Pros: They will be out of business again Cons: Can it be soon enough more

Great Food & Drinks! 11/19/2007

I work right across the street, so we often frequent FAB for lunch and after work drinks! I love their tomato penne with basil and parm. Also, I highly recommend the field green salad and have it topped with grilled salmon! Their service is always great. They also have a great Chocolate Martini if you are in the mood for something a little sweet after your dinner! more

FAB is an average fab. 10/14/2007

I expected more out of FAB but I guess my expectations were a bit too high. The prices are too high for the portions and the meals itself. I enjoyed my meal but it seemed as if I could have had it somewhere else, along with my dates meal also. This is an average american like restaurant, it doesn't give the ""Frenchy"" vibe too much. Pros: atmosphere, service Cons: food is too blan for ""french american"" more

Not too shabby 10/2/2007

I thought the space was fantastic and the service quite good. The menu is structured a bit odd for a bistro type French restaurant. If you are going for meats, its interesting with the chef's recommended plates. Basically you pick your steak or chop and there are variations with sauce, garnish, etc. already planned. I would have like more tranditional French fare thrown in, but its not a bad spot. The lack of comp. valet is bad form. more

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! 9/21/2007

Great ambiance, amazing food, perfect complaints about this FABulous dining experience. I loved it since the first time and I keep coming back for more. Perfect date place! The owner even made a point to stop by the table to check on things, as well as his lovely wife. Recommend having a drink at the bar prior to dinner, it's a very enjoyable atmosphere with the black and white French movies playing. We will definitely be back for more!!!!! Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, STAFF AND ATMOSHERE Cons: YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR VALET PARKING more

in love!!!!! 9/21/2007

Tried for the 1st time last night and loved it! This was one of the best meals that I have had in Atlanta!!!!!!! Our server was very attentive and personable. He took us on a tour after our meal and this place is exactly what Atlanta needed....a true grand brasserie. Reminded me of New York. Can't wait for the rooftop to open!!!!! more

Love the ambiance, great staff. 9/15/2007

Go there a lot for dinner, always stay at the bar, love the food, the service, the ambiance and the staff. Pros: ambience, food, staff, everything.... more
