Best Vets Near Freeport, ME 4/29/2010

Dr. Radding is a wonderful vet. She's knowledgeable, personable, clearly cares about the animals and knows what she's doing. Unfortunately personal issues have kept her out of state, and she's left management to another vet there until she can return full time to the practice (you can still get her now and again). \r \r That being said - I'm not a huge fan of the other lead vet. She's smart, and knows her stuff, but I was made to feel as if I didn't have the best interest of my pet in mind and was asked ridiculous questions I had already answered to the vet tech, and was given looks like she didn't believe I could possibly have cleaned my dogs ear if it was this bad. Since then I've seen her twice more and her bedside manner seems better, but I prefer not to see her. She knows her medicine though, so I give her points for that. \r \r The staff at FVH is incredibly nice, they treat my dogs fabulously and I've never worried about their care there. \r \r When we lost our senior, they sent us a more

Best Care 2/28/2008

I have to say that I really enjoy the staff here. Yes it has changed hands, yes they have had employee turnover but I've been coming here for over 10 years and I find the professionalism is very high and the employees they hire are the best. When I leave my dogs there for care I know for certain they are getting the best care they can get. Prices are a Little higher for some items and actually lower in other areas if you call around to other vets. In this case I say you get what you pay for. You want good care and service this is the place to bring your animals. more

Amazing Service and Value for my time and money!! 2/6/2006

I was amazed at the great customer service I recieved from the staff at the Freeport Veterinary Hospital. I am a returning client who has moved back to the area and have a pair of dogs who needed a new Vet local to where I live now. I was totally blown away by the investments in new technology and services that the new owner, Dr Radding has made with the hospital since taking it over from the previous owner last fall. The new tablet PC's and computer systems she has put in really has speeded up the time of service and the detail in the instructions I can now take home with me. I hate wasting time waiting when I shouldn't have to. I was also pleasantly surprised at the affordability of the services, esp having come up from the CT area. The new dental health equipment at the hospital has made my dog's dental cleaning a much faster process than the old one. I did not expect to find this great level of pet health technology in Freeport! My thanks to Dr. Radding and the rest of the k more

Okay Vet, just changed ownership (2006) 1/23/2006

Vet just changed ownership from Dr. Bourassa to a woman Dr Radding whom is nice enough, but I'm changing vets. They raised their rates and I find it sky high. The staff has also changed except like 2 people, no more cozy feeling. Cost me $68 for a rabies shot for the cat! They are into Holistic approaches and that's all fine and dandy if you can afford it all....but I'm not into acupuncture and massage for my dog, sorry. Also the table the cat was given had not been washedthe rest of the place was spotless, but .. Where my animals go matter and how do I know what was on that table.. PROS: local and into expensive treatments CONS: costs, nonpersonal, uncomfortable feeling. more

  • Freeport Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1983 by Dr. David Bourassa. The clinic was originally located on Durham Road as a home office for Dr. Bourassa. As the need to expand arose, the current facility was built in 1998. Upon Dr. Bourassa’s retirement in October 2005, Dr. Carolyn Radding purchased Freeport Veterinary Hospital and took over all operations.
