WORST customer service EVER! Filed a claim on the 5 year warranty we bought when we bought our furniture in 2011. August 4, 2014, we filed a claim. It is 10/18/14 and it's still not fixed. Our mechanism broke on our recliner. Have made several calls to Freed's to get the same story "" Sorry, the ship hasn't sailed from China, and won't until they have a full container"". We are told EVERYTIME we call it will be another 4 to 6 weeks. Hopefully it will be fixed before the 5 year warranty runs out. \r \r BEWARE- if you buy from Freed's, they DO NOT care what happens to your furniture after it is delivered. It WILL take forever for your furniture to get fixed. Oh, make sure you ask to read what the warranty covers BEFORE you purchase it because we were lied to. The sales person told us the warranty will cover everything, even if you have a pet that scratches your leather, they will replace it. more

At Freed's we try to please each and every customer. However, it is not always easy to solve problems arising from consumers who are unhappy with products that were special ordered. These orders are custom orders, and cannot be canceled or returned, unless there is a factory defect. This policy is printed on every invoice as well as being posted in our cashier's office. If we allowed customers to place special orders, and then return them once they were produced, we could have a showroom full of one-of-a-kind items that we never would have bought. Most retailers simply are not able have such a liberal policy. Although this consumer states that this issue was escalated to Mr. Freed, I certainly would not have handled this situation in the manner described above. I have no idea who this consumer is, and I am very much appreciative for him or her choosing to furnish your home with us. I would never have refused to allow you to return a $200 item you were unhappy with, especially if there more

DONT SHOP AT FREEDS 6/13/2011

We bought sofa and ottoman from Freed's furniture. I will NEVER shop with them again.\r My wife didn't like the color that they had on the showroom floor so the salesman, Gabriel sold her a special order fabric. The couch took two weeks longer than Gabriel said it would. And we had to call them to keep checking on when it would be ready (You would expect they would call us).\r When the couch came in, the fabric was like burlap. It was scratchy and nearly impossible to sit on. We waited a few days hoping it would soften...it didn't. We called Gabriel at Freed's who said he would asked his Manager what they could do. Days go by with no response so my wife called back only to have Gabriel say his Manager couldn't do anything.\r Any reputable place would have worked with us to get the problem fixed. But Freeds seems to just want the money.....once they have that, they feel no need to give good service. I encourage you to find another place to more

Inspect After Delivery 8/18/2009

Freed's furniture has a large selection and is reasonably priced. Be careful to inspect your furniture once it has been delivered. We purchased a bunk bed for our son and when it was delivered it had a large hole that looked like someone kicked it in. After a week of haggling with the manager, we finally resolved the issue, but will never shop there again. more

Great furniture, but HORRIBLE customer service! 1/15/2009

We recently purchased over $10,000 of furniture from this company. After shopping around the Dallas area, we chose Freeds because of their local manufacturing, quick delivery, and value for the money. We ended up furnishing 3 bedrooms and bought a dozen pieces. Our sales person was very nice and he was quick to respond to us when we had questions. Pros: Great furniture, quality, and quick delivery! Cons: HORRIBLE customer service and issue resolution! more

Large Selection 5/1/2008

This place is huge with tons of items to look at. We have brought a living room couch set and a dinning and china cabinet from the store. Both have held up and were good buys and reasonably priced. The best time to go we have decided is when they have the tent sales, you find some fantastic bargains. more

When my husband and I were looking for furniture, we went inside where there were about 8 salespeople in the foyer. Not one was interested in talking to us or greeting us. We showed ourselves around-big place and a little overwhelming when you're doing the self-tour. We bought our living room set at Haverty's. more

  • Freed's Furniture was founded by David Freed in 1938. An immigrant from Russia and a cabinet builder by trade, Dave leased a building on Elm Street (known as "Deep Ellum") in downtown Dallas. The former tenant was a company called National Furniture Company, which became the original name of Freed's, as Dave could not afford a new sign!

Eventually, Dave and Eva Freed's sons, Bernard and Joe, along with their son-in-law, Aaron Klausner, joined Dave in his business. With the help and determination of Bernard, Aaron and Joe, the business grew and moved north from Elm Street; first to the corner of Greenville and Ross Avenue in the 1950's, and then to the corner of Greenville and Northwest Highway in 1961. Freed's successfully operated from the Northwest Highway location for nearly 30 years.

In 1974, the family acquired a facility on LBJ at Midway Road. The company thrived from 1974 until 1991 as Joe Freed, the radio spokesperson for the company, became known as Joe "No-Interest " Freed. In 1991, Joe's son Howard leased the location from his family, and created a new entity... Freed's Homefurnishings.

Howard's vision was to create a furniture store that offered quality merchandise with stylish, high-end designs at affordable prices. The company adopted the slogan "You Can Afford Your Dreams" and tries to live up to that message with everything it sells.
