Best

I love this place. Great old school fork and knife pizza.

Worst

I research around to see where to go for some good, deep dish pizza; I found some good reviews on here and called in an order. I ordered the Supreme II with what's regular crust ...

Lunch 7/26/2009

We went on Sat around 3ish, there was only one other couple there. We ordered 3 subs, and it took them 40 minutes to serve them. It was a long wait and they were not even busy. Pros: Nice People Cons: Very Slow Service more

great chicago-style without pretense 2/14/2009

if you like chicago style vs new york style, this is the best in portland hands down. either way, the food here is wonderful and you can get a board game to keep you entertained. very family friendly, go there on a weeknight and you can talk to your date over the table without having to yell. additionally, they will sell you a REAL large pizza as opposed to a rip-off. more

Could be the best in Portland area 7/14/2008

I have to say that this is probably the best pizza I've eat'n in the Portland Oregon area. I am from Chicago and have lived here for 10 years now. I had an italian sausage and green peppers. Excellent dough, excellent sausage, great cheese. They didn't skimp at all. Lots of cheese and sausage. Great sauce, cheese, crust, combo. As for certain people reviewing 1 star, take these reviews with a grain of salt, especially ""Echo24Bravo"". When somebody is calling this pizza disgusting and the people that eat there disgusting. Sounds like a disgruntled person to me. Have fun, it's food people. more

The nastiest pizza I've ever had the misfortune to try and eat !!! 6/12/2008

Wow, all those people who gave such great reviews for this joke of a pizza place on this site must be some really disguisting people who would eat anything. I have never tasted a more greasy, uncooked pizza in my life. Maybe it's because I travel to Europe and got spoiled by the truly good pizza over there. A real Italian would hurl just at the sight of what Flying Pies puts out. Appropriate name, as the pizza will FLY out of your hand and into the trash after the first bite, if you can make it that far. They smother the crust with an immense amount of toppings, this thing is ridiculous, you have to eat it with a spoon. I believe good pizza is a delicate balance between the bread, sauce, cheese and toppings. A concept that seems to escape the geniuses at Flying Pies. Even my friends who ate some of it, threw about three quarters of the toppings off their slices away leaving them with a meat juice soaked, doughy, nasty piece of bread. It sickens me just thinking about it. YUCK !!! more

Absolutely the worst pizza I have ever had in my entire life. 3/24/2008

If I could give negative stars I would. Uncooked dough. Simply disgusting. Cons: The entire gestalt more

Uncooked Dough 2/25/2008

I research around to see where to go for some good, deep dish pizza; I found some good reviews on here and called in an order. I ordered the Supreme II with what's regular crust on the menu, and also ""Well-done"" since I like mine nice and crispy. I drove 20 minutes to pick up what's supposely one of the best pizza places around PDX, looking at the huge and loaded toppings, I can hardly wait until I get home to devour the tasty pizza. I have to say, it was tasty except the dough wasn't cooked all the way! My boyfriend and I put it back in the oven tried to cook the crust through some more, maybe it was just too loaded with the meat, the bottom of the dough was dranged in oily juice from the meat and didn't work. I guess if I were to order there again, I might suggest just trying with a one-topping or something on the lighter side with the ingredients. Pros: Good tasty ingredients, you get what you paid for and the italian sausages are fresh. Cons: uncooked dough and greasy more

THERE IN NO BETTER PERIOD! 8/14/2007

Being from the east coast I've had too many pizzas to ever recall. Not to worry..... I forgot all of them because of this GREAT pizza establishment! FLYING PIE should be recalled Flying High because that is how my taste buds feel when I eat this incredible pie! I never leave hungry because this is no small pizza or are they stingy with the toppings........It is FAN-TAS-TIC PIZZA! YAB - A - DAB - A -DOUGH! more

GREAT PIZZA 5/20/2007

I love the flying pie!! The pizza is to die for. Huge handmade pies with the best in toppings. Not small toppings. HUGE TOPPINGS - GREAT QUALITY TOPPINGS. I LOVE MISS PIGGY!!! Pros: GREAT PIZZA Cons: sometimes the wait for indoor seating can be long more

good pizza, with generous toppings 1/28/2007

the crust was good, but nothing spectacular Pros: tasty, generous toppings Cons: slightly more $$ than average pizza places more

Perhaps defines its own pizza style 1/6/2007

I have been going to Flying pie since the early 90s. Pros: Great pizza topping piled high Cons: Sometimes the water content from the mass of topings can affect the crust. more

Seriously Good Pizza 11/27/2006

Yeah, the toppings are gigantic, but the taste of the pizza is also excellent. The crust was a little soggy in the middle toward the end of the pizza, but the toppings were so filling and the flavors so good, that it more than makes up for any drawbacks. I guess I just have to eat the pizza quicker. Pros: Toppings, Value, Filling, Taste Cons: ambiance and price more

Yummy!!! 11/14/2006

We drive from Banks to have pizza here. It is soooo good. I highly recommend it. Lot's fo toppings and good service. Pros: Really good Pizza Cons: um.... none more

Great lunch special 11/9/2006

This is a great place to go during lunch. You get a slice of pizza with whatever you want, salad, a drink and two bread sticks. How can you not be happy with that? On the pizza, no matter what you order, you definitely get your moneys worth on toppings. You may be a little tired when you get back to work because you are so stuffed but who cares. Pros: Pizza, toppings and a salad bar! more

Excellent Pizza 8/4/2006

I was in the mood for a good pizza and decided to try something new. I usually order pizza from Giovanni's or Nonna Emelia's - but this time made the drive to Lake Oswego and picked up an extra large stromboli pizza from Flying Pie. The pizza was excellent - tons of toppings and everything was very fresh. The italian sausage is unique as far as pizza places go and tastes great. I will definitely be back. I can't say much about the restaurant itself - as I picked up my pizza. The inside look pretty simple - I did notice they had a bunch of board games you could play inside. All I really care about is the pizza - and it is great. Pros: Great Pizza. Cons: None. more

Pizza like you always wanted 6/2/2006

Since the early eighties we have never been disappointed walking out the door with a pizza to go from either location. My Italian wife swears they use the best Italian sausage in town - I dunno, but it is better than any other I've had on a pizza. For all I know it could be off the shelf from WalMart, but IT IS GOOD. Burned crust - Never. Pie size - large is 2 days worth of games. Only improving since opening the original location on Stark. Don't expect Jerusalem artichokes marinated in fragrant rain water that has been stored in Patagonian copper urns at 44.7 degrees, and only collected from leaf tips of organic lilies grown exactly on the 45th parallel, by drab people softly humming melodies more common on Himalayan trails. Just go get a simple, hearty pizza. We give it 4 olives on 4 fingers up. Pros: Grande pies, molto bene sausage, nice crust Cons: Northern Jersey decor more

Great Fresh Pizza 10/6/2005

I wish I would have found them sooner, The pizza is fresh with lots of fresh toppings. I order a large pizza for the two of us and did not know that it would weigh so much. Thee pieces and I was done. But had lunch for the next day. Wonderful pizza. The ambience I not to such about, I think it could be so much more with A little world charm. I have been back and will continue on going back. Pros: Fresh toppings, generous topping, good value Cons: Ambience more

One of my favs 4/29/2003

If you like your pizza large and loaded, this is a great place. Lots of toppings piled high! Service is usually friendly, can get a line if its busy, but I don't mind the wait. They have fun games to play and an easy ambiance. If you're looking for fussy, this isn't it. Only complaint? Too many mushrooms on the combo pizza and not enough green peppers. Also prices are a little high. Othwise, a great place! Pros: Games to play, Fun toppings more

fabulous! (aside from clientele) 10/1/2002

The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. The service is generally good, although it is occasionally difficult to pick up a phoned-in order. A seperate line ought to be formed, but because there is only one register (and the counter is under-staffed), that is not possible. A hassle, yes, but the cashiers are generally always appologetic for the wait and get you through as fast as possible. My one real complaint is the other customers. There are many haughty folks I have to stand in line with, most of whom feel compelled to slow things even further by using a card to pay for their order. These tend to be the same people who whine about the wait. I'll skip this establishment on some nights I would otherwise like to go, just because I detest the not-so-bad wait with the so-bad, uppity folks I have to wait with. more

Spend your money where it's appreciated! 8/9/2002

Even though they make a good pie, they have a long way to go when it comes to customer relations. The last time I was there, and it will be the LAST time, an employee conveyed to me in a sarcastic manner that I should be thankful for having the privilege of being able to spend my money at their establishment. I related this incident to members of management. Their response can best be described as confused and indifferent, without the appropriate follow up. Pros: Food Cons: Attitudes more
