I've been out with Fishing Headquarters about 10 times and each time has generally been an enjoyable experience. They offer several different types of fishing tours from their daily drift fishing, their sport fishing charter, an all day ""Dolphin Trip, group fishing charters and a Saturday night 7:30 PM to 1:30 AM 6 hour Anchor, which to my mind is the better of their selection. At $45 the 6 hour anchor tour is a bargain. The all day Dolphin (not the mammal Dolphin; the Mahi Mahi fish type Dolphin), however, can be bore because only so many can fish at one time, hence you have to operate in shifts and while on break there seems to always be a member of the group over indulging with the result being that you end up with one if not several of whom couldn't even come close to passing a sobriety test. Though I bring my own, they provide the poles, reels, hooks, bait and a deck hand always willing to assist in every imaginable fashion and under most every circumstance. Though I consider myself to be one of the more experienced, I find that that there is always something to learn and invariably pick up some valuable tips from their experienced crew. Better yet, when you dock and unload your catch, they clean it out and fillet it for you. I've been on a good number of such fishing tour experiences in a good number of locations, but for the price, particularly the 6 Hour Night Anchor, this is definitely one of the best; about as good as it gets for a mere $45.00. more

All drift boat fishing charters are the same along the southeast coast of Florida. ""Drift boat fishing"" means they will drive out off shore a mile or so, cut engines and drift with the currents across reefs and such. Everybody fishes off one side of the boat (or else your line will go under the boat) and at times the boats can be crowded. I took a party of four out on a Wednesday, at 1:30pm, during spring break - not too bad at 34 people. Parking is free and interesting for the second trip of the day because your parking spot is the same as the person that was on the AM trip. Meaning you have to wait for the AM boat to get back and offload the people so you can park in their spots. There are pay lots across the street. In my experience, drift boat fishing is often unsuccessful - maybe 1 in 4 people end up catching something and even less catch something edible. I go for the ""experience"" and the joy of a 4 hour boat ride out the inter-coastal and the chance to land a big fish. The scenery is beautiful with homes, yachts and the Florida landscape. We saw pelicans diving, flying fish jumping and even a sea turtle. I recommend, but don't set your hopes too high! more

We went on their 4-hour drift fishing trip, the early one on a Saturday. We found the place quick, parked and checked-in in a matter of minutes. The staff is friendly and the boat left right on time. After a leisurely ride through the Intracoastal looking at yachts and houses we can't afford :-) we were out to sea. In about 15 minutes we had the lines in the water after a brief tutorial on the way there. They provide all the gear you need. Just bring drinks and snacks. Fishing was slow but that's not their fault, right? The mates are knowledgeable and friendly and are there to help all the time. We caught a nice king fish which they cleaned for us and we cooked into some nice fish nuggets that same night. My two daughters can't wait to do it again..... more

We went out with Rob and within 20 minutes we had a 45 minute fight only to pull in an 8 1/2 foot Sailfish. Rob was an awesome captain and we will be sure to go back. more

I'm not big on fishing but I did go on the night time fishing extravaganza with my boyfriend. We had a great time! We both actually caught fish! The crew was awesome, especially Kevan. Kevan was very knowledgable about everything. He even tried to help my boyfriend catch a shark with the assistance of Bobby. Hands down, definitely worth it! MUST TRY IT! more

My husband and I were down on a short vacation and decided to go fishing! No better people then Captian Robert and Mick to guide us. If you want to go out to have a good time and catch some fish these guys are a MUST! We all caught some black fin tuna-mine was the biggest:)! Capt.Rob and Mick were very knowledgable about the area and worked hard to make it a great trip on the ocean! Mick's hard work paid off and the Capt got us to the right places at the right time to get our fish! Fun all around! Will book with them again for sure! more

At one point on the trip I asked my 8 year old, ""Would you rather be here or Disney World?"" Without hesitation, he and his 5 year old brother screamed, ""HERE!"" That pretty much says it all - Captain Rod and his crew took us out for a great half day tour. From the moment we got to the dock, the boys felt like they were part of the crew, the guys having them help with the final preparations for the trip. From there, the crew answered every question a bunch of land-locked folks from Colorado could ask. Within minutes of hitting the open water, even catching the bait fish was a blast for young and old alike. Rod set up the young kids for success and let the moms and dads make sure they got in on the fun too. Then the big ones ... the crew rigs the lines, the shipwrecks show up on the depth finder, and FISH ON! I honestly don't remember what we caught, I just know it was the biggest fish I'd ever seen and probably outweighed one of my kids. Rod and his crew were courteous and helpful, and more than anything made sure we had a great time enjoying the fishing around Ft. Lauderdale. more

Took my family and friends fishing recently out of the Fishing Headquarters fleet on the boat ""Keeping It Reel"" with Capt. Rod and Brett . Despite the rough seas it was one of the best fishing experiences I have had in a long time. Everyone caught something (dolphin, king fish, etc.) and the crew was on top of everything from changing the bait to making sure everyone had a cold beverage or food. Would definitely recommend fishing with these guys whether a avid fisherman or your first time out. more

This adventure started out as a simple drift-boating trip with my wife and son. Little did I know that it would end with THE most memorable fishing experience of my life. After reading several positive reviews on TA, my wife and I decided to add a drift-boat fishing trip to our mid-winter vacation in Fort Lauderdale. The dock was easy to find. We parked and checked in without a problem. While we waited, we were offered an opportunity for a reasonable upgrade to one of their sport fishing boats. This would be our first such experience. Our first stop was drag fishing for bait fish. Bobby, the mate, did an awesome job instructing us every step of the way and keeping my son active in the process. No question was too dumb and he was quick to explain everything that was happening. After catching some king fish we headed out for some sea monsters. We were trying everything. Kites, Balloons, Weights...you name it, it wasn't working. They even tried some other live bait they brought along. This is when I was most impressed. Bret (Captain) and Bobby (Mate) worked well into overtime to give us every chance to catch something. Finally, just as we decided to start reeling the baits in, there was a slight twitch at the end of the line. Long story short...after an hour and countless rallies later, I landed an 8 foot tiger shark. Never would have happened without Bret and Bobby at fishing headquarters. more

We purchased tickets to the drift boat, but were asked if we wanted to go on the Big Game Charter instead because they had people who didn't show up. We went and were so happy. The captain (Steven) and mate (Kevin) were fantastic. They did whatever it took to catch us fish. When the fish slowed down, they kicked it up and tried something different and we caught more fish. They were friendly, informative, patient and certainly knew their job. It was more like fishing with friends. We would recommend this trip to anyone, and will to all who come down to visit! more

We went on the Friday night drift fishing trip. The trip starts out with the boat leaving the dock and passing some beautiful waterfront mansions and incredible yachts that can only be seen from the water. We went at night and the homes were lit with lighting in multiple colors and schemes. Even the yachts are lit up. The crew was attentive, working hard to make the trip memorable for all. A couple of times fish were caught and then shown to everyone before being released. We saw moray eels, grouper, snapper, and even a poisonous scorpion fish. Each time one of us needed assistance the crew was spot on. Without our asking even once, they were there replacing hooks, pulling our rigs off the bottom, unhooking fish, and making helpful suggestions. We caught a bunch of fish but none were ""keepers"". It is fun for kids and adults alike. At $40,00 this is worth the money. Don't forget to tip the crew as they work for the tips they get. more

I had a great time. We caught a variety of fish. Every passanger caught at least one fish. I was impressed with the 1st mate Clay, he was very personable and helpful. The boat was clean and I felt safe at all times. The only improvement needed is soap and running water in the bathroom. I will book another sport fishing trip on my next visit to Ft. Lauderdale and will request Captain Steve's boat. more

Went on the afternoon drift fishing trip and had a lot of fun! The fishing wasn't great, but that's just fishing. There were 7 of us and all but 1 of us caught a fish or two. Sami and Trevis were great! They kept our bait buckets full and were always right there when we needed anything. I'd recommend this place! more

Arrived at the Boat to a friendly captain and awesome crew with my Husband and 3 kids ages 9, 12, and 14. The captain and crew were amazing. Was a beautiful day and the crew made the experience amazing for my husband and my three kids. Kip spent so much time helping my 9 year old daughter Sarina that she finally caught a fish with his help. Ryan, Justin and Ashley, were equally amazing and made our 4 hours on the boat a pleasure. Each time one of us lifted our line and they saw that we had no bait, or an issue with the rod they literally ran over to assist. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOAT AND THIS CREW. Whether you are a first timer or an experienced fisherman, FISHING HEADQUARTERS WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. more

I have fished on Charters from Rhode Island to Key West. I have fished with many captains and crew...by far the gold standard is the Fishing Headquarters in Fort Lauderdale. Capt. Rod is an outstanding Captain (gets you on the fish!) and his crew is always top notch. What keeps me coming back is simple.\r 1) They get you on the fish!\r 2) You have a great time!!\r 3) THEY GET YOU ON THE FISH!!!!!\r If you haven't been fishing out on their boats...do yourself a favor and hook up with them!! more

Travis and Sammy were the best possible guides. Both members of our party became sick and they couldn't have been more understanding or helpful. It really says something that we still had a great time despite our sickness. more
