Fishbones Restaurant 2/24/2012

I have lived in Orlando for 20 years now. In the past this was one of the better seafood restaurants in the city. My past couple of experiences have not been very good however. The service was barely average. The food was over cooked. The management was invisible. A pocket knife somehow disappeared after I left my car in valet. You almost have to valet here because they block off most of the lot. I hope things change because it was one of my better spots to take guests. I tried to fill them in directly but you cannot leave comments on their web site...... more

awful 9/14/2011

We stopped here hoping to find better than average cuisine and found the food to be almost inedible, dripping with butter and salted to extreme. No apologies from either the server or management. If you are hungry for fish, go to Capt Dee's: you won't be sorry. By the way, they did wish us a ""have a nice day"" on our exit. more

OK but overpriced 11/20/2010

Reasonable food and service but far overpriced for what you get. No prices for the fish on the menu, $39 for Sea Bass - more than the steak. Good food but not $39 worth. Better restaurants for the price around. more

Greatly disappointed 10/6/2010

It was my last night in Orlando on a business trip. My colleague and I (a fellow foodie) wanted something delicious. We read on Orlando Magazine that Fish Bones was rated high for seafood. Not that many people in the restaurant. Not sure if that was good or bad. After the waiter highly recommended a sea bass dish...indicating that I would practically lick my plate. Despite the high cost (told due to low supply), I ordered the dish. Not only was I not licking the plate, I didn't bother finishing my plate. Other parties at my table weren’t impressed either. Reflecting back I should have returned my plate. Oh and learn. more

unbelievably good! 9/13/2010

I live in Tampa and there are many great seafood places here but my husband and I actually make the drive to Orlando to go here every couple months. The service has always been great, the salad that comes with your meal and the salmon on the wood fired grill with the dill sauce is the best I've ever had. We've also had the prime rib and the mixed grill with the mahi, salmon, and shrimp, all of it has been great. I read some of the bad reviews that are older (2007) and I would say that things have definitley changed. We've been going here for the past couple years and never had a problem, you won't be disapointed. more

Horrible service 12/2/2008

I don?t write reviews, but I was looking for a recommended seafood restaurant and saw the fish bones reviews. It has been a while since I have eaten at the restaurant, and could not help communicating my experience. The service I had was terrible and the food was marginal. \r \r I write this in the hopes someone else will not waste their time and money like I did...The owners need to get a grip on this place.\r Pros: Neat sign out front Cons: poor service, food average...not a value for the $ spent more

The experience was awesome. We had the stone crabs for appetizers and a delicious blackened Seabass for my entree. My wife had fried shrimp breaded in saltine crackers. She loved it. When the manager stopped by He thankedus for our business. I thanked him for such a nice evening. Pros: food and service Cons: very crowded so make a reservation more

Fish Boned! 6/22/2007

My wife and I visited Fish Bones on May 28, 2007. While the restaurant looked good from the outside, what we found was just another Orlando tourist trap. \r \r \r We found Fish Bones just driving by on Sand Lake road. We were hungry, and there was no wait so we decided to try it. Although the inside of the restaurant was plastered with awards, I noticed that most of the grantors were names that I didn't recognize. Nevertheless the decor was sufficiently elegant for a restaurant.\r \r My first clue of trouble was that much of their rather sparse menu was 'market price'. Now I can understand that the cost of some items such as lobster tail, crab legs, and game fish may fluctuate; labeling more mundane items such as mahi mahi is just ridiculous. \r \r Our waiter was a bit inept, but this being the holiday weekend I expect they were a little short handed. Our dirty dishes sat on the tabIe along with our empty glasses. I ordered the mixed grill entree for about $25, which came with a sort of shrimp and scallop scampi along with one small piece each of salmon, and possibly grouper. While the ingredients were of fair quality the food was bland, and greasy. Really, it had almost no flavor at all. It was a shame that reasonably good seafood would be served in this manner. A bit of seasoning would have made all the difference.\r \r My wife ordered the stuffed shrimp for about $20 which was marginally better. At least it was kinda crispy, and had some flavor. Her entree also came with orzo which sadly, was the highlight of the meal. \r \r \r I don't think we will be going back. While this is not the worst restaurant in Orlando, there are far better choices in the same category, and price range -many of them nearby.\r Pros: Close to far better restaurants. Cons: Everything else. more

I think I just ate a meal out of the sewer. horrible horrible horrible 4/15/2007

My very good friend and I have been Florida residents for a very long time, we enjoy a good meal together Now and Again.\r We were excited to try Fish Bones, Our initial impression of the place was pretty good, Seated promptly, greeted by several of the staff, Drinks were fast and server SEEMED nice. THEN our salads came, they tasted like a McDonald's salad that had been sitting in my refrigerator for over a week. Next up was our Stuffed shrimp and Mixed grill ( Mahi Mahi, Salmon and Shrimp and scallop scampi) Needless to say the food was terrible UNDERCOOKED, TASTELESS, SLIMY. When I let the server know of the situation She proceeded to give me a lesson in dinning. she said "" I asked you if you liked it, you should have told me then, for future reference you need to tell the server right away so the chef can make it better."" said this all with a attitude. PENNY is the worst server I have ever had. Not to mention unprofessional. This stupid girl had pig tails like she was 5 years old. How dare she talk to me like that. I have never been so embarrassed by a minimum wage loser. So, I will not be returning to FISH BONES EVER AGAIN. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Not what it's cracked up to be 3/20/2007

My wife and I visited Fishbones on our recent visit to Orlando. The restaurant was highly recommended to us by our hotel staff, so we decided to give it a try. Upon our arrival, I was not impressed. We had a reservation for 9:00 PM on a Friday night. When we checked in, we were greeted very coldly by the host staff and handed a buzzer and told to wait. It took about 30-minutes before our table was finally ready. During that time, we had the pleasure of spending around $15 for two domestic beers at the bar. Once seated, our waiter greeted us and read off the specials to us. My wife decided on the King Crab legs, and I had a filet mignon. Boy, did I regret that. The crab legs were fine, but the filet may possibly have been the worst I've ever had. It was undercooked, and about half of the steak was nothing but fat and gristle. Not exactly what I would expect for a $25 meal. To top it off, the waiter did not get my order correct, so I did not even get to enjoy the side dishes that I ordered. I would have brought this to his attention and had him correct the problem, but from the time he took our order, he never returned to the table to check back on us until he dropped off the bill. Overall, our experience was not good, and I would not go back. Although the seafood selections were quite good, the meal I had was horrible, and overall I thought the entire menu, including the wine list, was overpriced. I also have never experienced such poor service in a fine dining restaurant. There is a large selection of restaurants in Orlando. I would highly suggest finding one other than Fishbones. I know I will on my next visit. Pros: Decent seafood selection, large wine selection, good atmosphere Cons: Poor service and overpriced more

Don't waste your money at Fish Bones, it is a complete waste of money, time and food quality is poor! 8/4/2006

My husband and I live in Pittsburgh and we travel to Orlando all the time where found Fish Bones restaurant 5 years ago. We have been coming by ourselves, with our children and with our family at least 3 times a year for those 5 years. We came into town and had dinner there Thursday night--delightful server and meal and great wine. We had dinner there again Friday night (with 5100 restaurants in town and us going back would think it is really good.....); was a complete disaster. Our server was poor. Our salads came out and before we had finished our salads, our food was there and our server was just rushing us out (turning the table over for their 7:00 rush?). Next, my ($40.00) fish came out cold; my broccoli was cold as was the lime butter. I asked the server to please take it back and warm it up and she did; my husband finished his dinner before my fish came back and they forgot my broccoli; I attempted to eat the sea bass but it was filled with some fat-like substance that was nasty; I had to ask again for my broccoli and dinner was completely finished when it returned; I complained to the server and she just treated me like any customer--not one who had spent over $250 in two days on dinners--well I asked for the manager, Collene, who also just blew us off; I called in for her manager who I was told was in the kitchen....needless to say, we will not be back. I was treated like I would be expected to be treated at a Burger King or Wendy's restaurant--not very well. With that many restaurants in town, Fish Bones can treat people like they don't matter, but one day their people will dry up and so will their business. Don't waste your money; Go to another restaurant; they just don't care about you so why bother to care about them. I am very upset and will not take my customers there, will not take my family members there, and certainly my husband and I will never go there again!! Pros: prime rib Cons: service, management, ambience more

Poor customer service, over crowded, parking terrible 7/15/2006

1st time there, parking was horrible I had to park across the street. About 20-25 minute wait for a table 10-15 before a waiter even stopped to ask if I wanted a drink, took 10- minutes to get the drink. After I got my drink I literally had to stop another waiter just to have my order taken. Very dissapointing, poor service I left didn't even get to try the food. Cons: poor service, terrible parking, overcrowded more

Try to go every year ! 6/5/2006

This is a great resturant - and yes they do try to get you in-&-out and, yes, you may have to send back a plate that is under cooked & they can get slammed just like anyplace. And I would not recommend it for cocktails - if you want to get blitzed - go somewhere eles. But the food is good - great steaks & really good escargot, generous portions and I would say it is one of the best resturatns in Orlando. Pros: reservation taken, good food Cons: can get slammed, need reservations more

Disappointed 5/23/2006

Decent food & the Atmosphere was nice in the Bar area. Slow Service & Poor Attitudes of the wait-staff and Hostess. ""They move you fast and pack you in like cattle."" ( Do not get the All-you-can-eat-shrimp, you'll never get seconds and make sure you ask about the prices on the specials if you plan to keep your meal under $50). 12 people in our party and after the conclusion of our meal we were told that FishBones had a ""No check Splitting Policy"". After 30 minutes of arguing with the waiter and Management staff about it not being posted on the door or any menu, we were given a calculator and told to split it ourselves. Next visit to Orlando, we're skipping FishBones. Pros: Bar Area, Parking, Nice Wine Selection Cons: Attitude, Service, Seating & Space more

Fish Bones Experience 2/1/2005

Very good steak and seafood. Excellent appetizers and deserts. Generous portions are served so bring an empty stomach. My wife and I always make it a point to dine at Fish Bones when we go to Orlando which is usually twice a year. Make sure that you have reservations. Pros: Filet Mignon, Service, Desert Cons: Parking, Need Reservation more

Favorite Place 8/8/2004

This is the favorite place for both my wife and me. Both, the seafood and the steaks are excellent. The variety and alternatives of dishes is really an A plus. You can also ask for your own combination of food. The wine list is OK. The service is fantastic. Pros: quality of food, great service, courtesy Cons: , reservation stand more

Unprofessional- 6/2/2004

We stopped there for a quick bite to eat and a drink. We asked to be seated at the bar and just wanted some appitizers. The hots was quite rude and showed us a menu without any appitizers in it. He refused to answer any questions and was quite ignorant. more

Pretty Good 3/7/2004

I wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived as I had never eaten there before. We had a very large party of 25 and that sometimes can be difficult to handle. Our servers were patient and very nice. Food surprisingly all came out just about at the same time with maybe just a couple of minutes difference on each end. Steak was purfect and lobster tail wonderful. Overall good experience. Not a romantic restaurant if thats what you are looking for. Pros: Good menue selection more

HORRIBLE 7/1/2003

took my family for dinner, and we virtually took a few bites a piece and asked for the check, my wife had swordfish that was cold in the middle due to not being cooked, i had the chilean sea bass and it was literally raw in the middle, the waitress didnt even bother to ask us how the food was, she just took our money and said good bye. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!! more
