My husband and I were very disappointed with this place. Our appetizer was prosciutto wrapped scallops, which were yummy except for the roasted apple sauce on it. He ordered the...

LOVE this place... 7/10/2003

We typically go here about 1-2 times per month. The service is the best in Portland and you cannot beat the menu--simply the very best food in Portland. Pros: Service, Menu, Ambience more

WOW 6/30/2003

Fish Grotto is the best place to have dinner or meet friends for a drink. Every time I have gone to the Grotto I have a great time. All the food the perfect and the staff is attentive. This is the best restaurant in Portland hands down. Pros: Food, Drinks, Staff more

Pearl quality without Pearl prices 6/17/2003

We love going to The Grotto. Its right on the edge of the Pearl District. You get the 'Pearl' district experience without the attitude and lofty prices. Try it once and it will become one of your regular haunts! more

Yummy 6/12/2003

The Grotto is a great restaurant. The Food is excellent and I highly recommend the SEMI Boneless half roasted chicken. Fondue you say! Heck ya the cheese sauce is so good you almost want to dive into the bowl for a quick swim. It's small, It's intimate, It's delish, and its intense. I highly recommend the Fish Grotto. Reservations are good to have in advance because the dining room is small and does fill up quite often. Pros: Great Food, Great Cocktails, Spunky Blonde Waitres more

top of the pops!! 6/10/2003

we have soooo much fun every time we eat at the fish grotto. The staff there always makes sure that every aspect of our meal is perfect. try the razor clams, or the blackberry salmon! everytime i see the hordes of people waiting at jakes down the street, we just laugh and head on to the grotto, where we can almost always find a table (but having a cilantro martini at the bar while we wait aint bad either!!) 4 stars, for sure. Pros: daily specials, perfect cocktails, cute servers! Cons: closed on mondays, not open for lunch, no lobster more

I Can't Imagine... 6/7/2003

...having a bad experience at the Grotto, as we like to call it. The seafood is always the freshest, and the small, quaint dining room provides an experience unlike any other in Portland. The chef's always do an excellent job with the menu items, and the specials are always out of this world. The seafood risotto they had on last week when we were there was exceptional. We are blessed to be able to eat out several times a week...eating at The Grotto is always an added bonus. Pros: Great Seafood, Beatiful Restaurant, Attentive Service Cons: Closed Mondays more

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible! 6/2/2003

Our experience at this restaurant was absolutely appalling! We left after waiting ONE HOUR for our food, which we discovered was never placed as an order, after the waiter lied to us twice and said it would be out within a few minutes. The worst part was that we had theater tickets and did not have time to eat anything before the show. This was literally the WORST dining experience we ever encountered, and that says a lot given that we've traveled all over the world! I will never return to the Fish Grotto, and will tell everyone I know about our horrible experience to prevent them from making a similar mistake. Cons: Absolutely appalling more

Fishy Food 12/20/2002

I had the best dinner at The Fish Grotto the last 3 days in a row. They offer a great alternative to Jakes when it comes to seafood! Pros: Nice Wait Staff, Good Drinks, Good Food more
