I am the sister of ERNEST Chris Hasselfeld who is one of the fallen firefighters listed. His name on the fallen firefighter plaque reads Christopher Hasselfeld which is NOT his name. He is named after his father, Ernest Carl Hasselfeld and his grandfather, Ernest Freidrich, and he has a grandson named Ernest Creighton Hasselfeld who is currently in the Navy serving in Washington, D.C. as honor guard. My brother served in Vietnam and was awarded 2 purple hearts. He was a city fireman/paramedic and was killed on December 7, 1983 in the Flight for Life helicopter crash. He deserves to have his name listed correctly on a memorial supposedly erected for him and other fallen firefighters. The worst part is the damage this has done to his daughter who was only 10 when he was killed. She cried everytime she talks about it. She says, that's not my father's name. That is not cool, and someone needs to correct this bad mistake. The family was never contacted about this memorial. We only found out about it on the day of the opening ceremony. If someone had bothered to call any of the family, they would have gotten the correct information and put the right name on the plaque to begin with.
Pros: Great idea to do a memorial
Cons: Totally wrong name of one of the firefighters honored.
