I Love This Place. Took my girlfriend to Firebird Restaurant for lunch. The food, wine and service were excellent. The restaurant is made to look like a palace which was pretty co...

I was really disappointed with the food. Having lived in Russia for 14 years, I have never seen blini as small and cold as they were served at this restaurant. I even asked the wa...

Nice, but too fancy for me 12/12/2005

The restaurant is beautiful, service was good, and the food was exquisite. The problem is me -- "exquisite" isn't my favorite label for food. It was the kind of place where they have a tea menu, and ordering iced tea means choosing from their (excellent, I must confess) imported Kusmi tea and having it brewed and iced per glass. It was fantastic -- but I would have been happier with tea one grade lower and refilled frequently. For a long, important business meeting it was appropriate and worth the great expense. Off expense account, I would step down a notch. (The Kusmi tea was so good, though, that I stopped at McNulty's in Greenwich Village and bought some.) more

OK Russian food in the Theater district 9/12/2005

I went here with my family for Restaurant Week and was fairly disappointed. The food was nothing special. After all the hype about this restuarant, I expected something fabulous. Instead I got small portions, practically no options, and a huge bill to show for it. Although the dessert was really good and the atmosphere was interesting, it was not worth all that money and the food was mediocre at best! more

Fancy place with homemade vodka 6/18/2005

All of the waiters wear Cossack uniforms, and every room is jeweled and decorated in a different, beautiful way, and Firebird is absolutely worth the trip. It's defiitely on the pricey side, but their homemade, honey-infused vodka is worth the cost ($10 a glass). more
