It's not bad, but not what I'd expected. I went there because my girl friend chose the place and wanted to try it out, and to be honest, I wouldn't go on my own or invite someone ...

Yuppie Food 8/27/2005

The food at Father's office will help you get over the elbow shoving wait for the 10 tables you can sit at. The burgers and fries are undeniably good and the beer and wine selection will appease anyone. I would recommend coming on a weekday (M-W) at 5 to avoid the rush. more

Good if you like Belgian brew 8/17/2005

Father's Office is great for their Belgian beer selection. Supposedly they have great burgers, but I haven't tried 'em. Otherwise, the place is way too small to truly enjoy yourself. And trying to hear another person while in conversation is nearly impossible. more

Do Not Be Afraid!! 8/11/2005

Yes, its true. Father's Office is crowded. But it's because this place has the best beer selection and the best food I've ever tasted in a bar in my life. Yes, its true that Father's Office does not provide ketchup with their fries. But I've never had a better fry than their sweet potato fries dipped in blue cheese aioli. It's true that you have to be 21 to get in. But...Thank GOD there's a baby-free haven on stroller crazy Montana Ave. Yes, the service is sometimes curt. But when the dark-eyed bartendress said ""Arrogant Bastard"" it was actually a beer that tasted amazing with the burger. Not for the weak-kneed? True. Not worth it? So not true. Pros: beer, wine & food, no babies, great bartenders Cons: crowded, no waiters, no changes more

Never again 7/27/2005

I went in with some co-workers, we ate, drank & tipped. Then the barender actually came over to our table and accussed us of not tipping along with a sob story about how he is not paid enough $$. I did love this place. Bad service I can put up with for good food, but attitude? No way. The bartender is like the soup nazi in Sienfelt. Does he want to sell beer or just make everybody angry. Never again 7/27/2005

CROWDED FOR A REASON 5/8/2005

since i was born and raised in LA i've visited a plethora of burger joints and Father's Office is the absolute best, bar none. i even learned to appreciate their "no substitutions" rule because everyone gets to enjoy their signature burger in its supreme glory. i didn't even realize that the burgers had no sauce because the patty was so freakin' juicy! the spinach keeps the burger from feeling too heavy and the blue cheese adds a nice touch. and their selection of beers is incredible. i always choose from their wonderful amber selection. i've read ppl complaining about the price, but i think it's definitely worth it. i'd much rather pay $10 for a delicious burger than $1 for a crappy one. Pros: Excellent Burger, Great Beers, Nice Ambience Cons: Crowded, Difficult Service more

But I was really impressed with everything about this place. I was surprised how crowded it was at 8:00 PM. It took us awhile to get a table, but it's part of the charm I guess. The crowd was good...everyone was laid back. The beer was strong and good and so was our bartender, Chirstmas. Treat her well and she'll treat you well. The burger was REALLY GOOD as were the sweet potato fries (both really expensive)...I just wish there was ketchup. I got drunk...I got full...and I had a lot of fun. This is the type of place you can make friends easily. I defintalely plan on making many more trips here. Pros: Great Burgers, Variety of Beer, Good Vibe Atmosphere Cons: , Crowded, No Ketchup :( more
