Best

5 of us had five different beers and each of us had the same burger. 5 for 5 on both so I give this place 20 stars. the beer selection is astounding, even for a beer nut like ...

Worst

It's not bad, but not what I'd expected. I went there because my girl friend chose the place and wanted to try it out, and to be honest, I wouldn't go on my own or invite someone ...

Great beer and ambience! 8/1/2006

I'm not a huge beer drinker, but the bartender helped me choose one I've never even heard of (and can't remember the name) and it was delicious! Great after work crowd. more

Not your typical burger! 7/17/2006

This burger has to be the best in Los Angeles, besides my favorite being Nepenthe in Big Sur (up north). It's not on your typical hamburger bun, but on a french roll. So juicy and delicious. And their fries come in a cute little shopping cart. The only downside to this place is that on the weekends it's PACKED and since the walls are veneered in wood and all the furniture happens to be in wood too, there is absolutely zero acoustical insulation, therefore, SUPER SUPER NOISY.... My friends and I were literally yelling on top of our lungs to talk when our faces were only 2 feet apart. But the food and atmosphere makes up for it. :) Pros: Superb food! Cons: noisiest environment more

Great food AND SERVICE! 7/2/2006

I love Father's Office, and even more than that, I think the bartenders are awesome! From what I understand, the people who don't like it are the ones who act personally offended when they don't get their way. Here's the deal: NO Ketchup! NO Ice! NO Straws! And Absolutely NO Substitutions or Deletions on ANYTHING! It doesn't matter if it's because of religion, pregnancy, or personal pereference. They do it their way, and I thought I was going to strangle the woman next to me who didn't tip the bartender because she didn't have any ice for her water. Who are these snobs? If you don't tip, you shouldn't be dinning out, period. The bartenders don't make the rules, they just inforce them. So, give 'em a break! I loved our bartender. She was funny, sassy, and knew a ton about beer! I usually get the same thing everytime, but she turned me on to some new Japanese beer that was amazing! People are used to going to a restaurant and getting everything they want just way they want it. It's not like that at Father's Office, but if you're willing to open your mind, and try a whole new experience, you just might learn (and love) something totally new! Pros: Service and Food Cons: Wish it was open for lunch more

Important Changes - Must Read 6/22/2006

The dreaded Fire Marshall came this past week (mid-late June) and imposed some new rules on Father's Office. If you have not been in a while, or this is your first time, then you'll want to know about these new rules. First, there is now a line outside that can cause significant delays. This is because only a small amount of people allowed inside (around 40). The line forms about 20 minutes after the opening. 3 of us showed up around 7:45, and we didn't get in until 8:30. We watched as people nursed their beers and wines, and people were only let in as others left. When we left around 10:45, we saw some people who were in the line at 8:30 were still waiting. Second, when you get in, there are plenty of seats and the bar tenders are much less busy than before. In fact, the bar stools on the sides of the restaurant (once coveted positions) are empty because the fire marshall will not allow enough people inside to completely fill all the tables and stools. We also noticed a chill in the air - since there aren't a ton of people inside, you can actually feel the air conditioners. Weird. Third, the burgers and the brew are still amazing. I drove 2.5 hours, waited in line for 45 minutes, and don't have any regrets. more

Amazing little place 5/30/2006

When you try this place, you'll see why there's always a crowd. It might be a bit of a hassle waiting and trying to find a table to sit, but it's all worth it. Their sweet potato fries are to die for. Their famous Office Burger is a must have as well. Pros: food, beers Cons: too small and crowded more

Check out the sweet potato fries. Every time I've been, the place is packed ... wall to wall. But, we've always been able to swing a table, somehow. The beer line snakes through the crowd and is most annoying. Wood fixtures make for a cozy, sturdy, clean and close experience. more

Drinking Great beer in a closet 4/3/2006

My advice, order your food to go. The burger is sublime, but standing while eating it and getting bumped into by frat boys really detracts from the experience. I have started just ordering it and eating it on my couch while watching a game. Sure you don't get the belgian beer on tap that way, but at least you keep your sanity. I agree that they need to buy the barber shop next door. This isn't NYC, there is room to grow. Pros: Burgers, Beer Selection Cons: Service, Crowd, Space more

Great food, bad bartenders... 3/27/2006

I love father's office, what I don't live is the bartenders. They are very slow and very rude. I think the owner should find a new staff. more

Just for drinks-- it was great 3/23/2006

A lot of people's compliants seem to be about the food and the service as a restaurant. I can't comment on that b/c I just went there to hang out and try the beer selection. As far as that goes: It was awesome! If you snag a table or bar seats (not that difficult on a Thursday night, we got a prime table right away-- just have to keep your eye out!) it can be hours of fun in a friendly atmosphere. Great place to make friends and try new beers! The beer menu is extensive! Try: the oatmeal stout (IF you like stout) and be sure to try the peach lambic no matter what. You can't find these speciality items everywhere. Pros: friendly atmosphere, great beer selection Cons: parking more

Feel the fear and go anyway 2/14/2006

Fear of crowds? Sadly, not everyone appreciates this place. Expect it to be crowded because GOOD PLACES usually are! If you get there early enough to get a seat at the bar, you'll have no worries. The food is so outstanding you don't need ketchup, the beer is so good you don't need hard liquor, the chatty atmosphere is lively and entertaining. The bartenders are BUSY, not unfriendly. It's an adventure to "swim" thru the crowd to get to the bathroom. If all of this sounds too daunting then go somewhere else, 'cuz the rest of us need the space! Pros: FOOD, ENERGY, BEER Cons: not open for lunch more

Yuppie Food 8/27/2005

The food at Father's office will help you get over the elbow shoving wait for the 10 tables you can sit at. The burgers and fries are undeniably good and the beer and wine selection will appease anyone. I would recommend coming on a weekday (M-W) at 5 to avoid the rush. more
