The customer satisfaction that this shop gives is amazing. The staffs are courteous and are always willing to help whichever customer comes to their shop.

I purchased a lovely Gruen wrist watch several years ago. It started running slow so I took it into a jeweler on wabash. He said he would be happy to clean it but the insides are...

They did a great job on my antique clock. Accomodating staff and very knowledgeable. Bit on the pricey side, but you get what u pay for. Would recommend then for antique clock and watch repair. more

I brought them a 1950 General Electric clock that I bought at an antique store west on Belmont and they did an A+ job at restoring it for me. They oiled the woodwork, polished the brass, and replaced all of the degraded components on the inside. It's now on my nightstand and it's looking great. I worked with Jim Reynolds and had a pleasant experience. These people are the best at what they do, hence the price. I just bought yet another antique clock and I'll be bringing it to Jim as well. Father Time Antiques is world-class. more

Father Time owner's extensive knowledge of antique and contemporary time pieces is outright impressive, down to every detail of a mechanism, historic or modern. His two repairmen are meticulous - lots of experience and surgical precision. But what I find to be an extra guarantee of the workmanship is the pride they take in their work! The only way they will repair a piece is the right way - no shortcuts, ""discount"" craftsmanship, material substitutes, or cutting corners. And I know - I had several items fixed at Father Time. So did some of my friends. Read the reviews on Yelp. Father Time's is a highly specialized craft and as soon as you start talking to the people working there, you know they are about expertize and quality. more

Great service! They were able to swap out a watch band that I brought in to them in only a few minutes. Would definitely come back for additional services for future watch repairs. more

These guys are terrific. I was hesitant to leave my Dad's watch with them for repair until the man behind the counter (the owner I think) explained how painstaking the restoration process is and how they could restore my Dad's watch to like-new functionality. He explained every step of the process and gave us a detailed estimate. They are pricey but I think the money was well-spent once I saw what a great job they did. These guys claim they are the largest in the areas for vintage and antiques watches. Now I know why. When I saw Dad's watch after they completed the job I was very happy and remembered what it had once looked like on his wrist. more

I inherited a 19th century pocket watch badly in need of a tune up. Further, the front cover would not clasp shut because the metal had worn down over time. During a brief visit home a few months ago, I swing by FTA to have them look at it.\r \r I received a nice tutorial about how pocket watches work and an eyeball estimate of the watch's value. The team explained exactly what needed to be done and why, how it would be done, and when I could expect it. I currently live outside Chicago and FTA assured me it would be sent with the utmost care and arrive to me safely.\r \r Five weeks later, the watch arrived safe and sound. It works perfectly, the front lid closes, and the FTA team polished it to a shine it hasn't had in decades. I am very impressed - though not surprised, based on other reviews - with the work and service of the FTA team. This kind of craftsmanship an guarantee of quality work is becoming rare. It's great to know this place still holds up - kind of like their time pieces! more

Several years ago, I lost a unique Bulova Accutron Spaceview watch that I had been given as a present by my parents. Jim and Father Time spent almost a year searching for the exact same watch based on nothing more than a small photograph that showed me wearing the watch. Not a lot to go on. But they found one in Florida (if I recall) and offered it to me at a fair price. It was a near duplicate of the one I lost. And it is authentic and complete. They have serviced it faithfully using original parts for almost 15 yrs and have even done some minor repairs at no charge. I have only this experience to go on but I will tell you that Father Time is one of the best retailers I have dealt with and will continue to deal with. They made my day when they found the replacement watch and I intend to be a loyal customer for as long as the watch (or I) keep on ticking! more

I took my Grandmother's wrist watch to Father Time to be restored, but was sure it was not possible. I have been told by several jewelers that it was a basket case. Much to my surprise, the owner of Father Time said that it could be put back to original condition, using only original parts. They did the work, and when it was done, it was perfect! They restored the watch back to its original beauty, and presented me with the broken parts, showed me the details of how the watch was worn and broken, and now it works perfectly. Every time I put it on, I think of my Grandmother! I don't know of any place else that could have done this restoration. It is much appreciated! more

Many years ago my father handmade a grandfather clock case and he bought an antique movement to put in it. It ran for over 30 years, but when I inherited it it was in bad need of restoration. Father Time Antiques were able to restore it to its former glory and it has been running great since their clock makers gave it their TLC. Thanks Father Time! more

Every time I come to Chicago, I make it a point to stop at Father Time Antiques. My son was interested in timepieces, and we came in to look around. We were treated to a vast amount of information and history of how the watch was developed. We learned so much, that now my son wants to collect pocket watches that were used on the railroads. History has become his favorite thing. Who knew? I really can't say enough about how courteous they were to a curious kid. We bought him a pocket watch for his birthday, and he loves it! more

I took in my great grandparent's mantle clock for repair in October.\r The gentleman who assisted me when I first brought in the clock was very knowledgeable and helped me learn a lot about the clock and its history. The restoration, while expensive, was well done and I am very pleased with the end product. I would return to this business again. more

Despite the watch had not been used in probably 40 years, they were able to repair, clean and polish it... Now it works perfectly. more
