Editorial review from Citysearch 2/13/2013

I had an oil change and a tune up on my 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 750. J.D., the mechanic, opened the shop early to take my bike in, about 6 hours later, my bike was ready.\r Notified me of low tire pressure, and possible leak at final gear case oil. He checked my suspension, charging system, oiled and adjusted my brake and clutch cables. Total cost $221.00, and I think this was fair, and I have peace of mind knowing my bike is in good shape. I will bring my bike back to install a part I ordered. more

not recommended!!! 7/7/2012

**NOT RECOMMENDED**\r I bought a bike from Scott his shop sold as a consignment they supposedly loomed over. First ride out (about 50mi) the bike started to die woth out hesitation. He replaced the key ignition that did not fix the problem then left me stranded in Albany. Turned out it was the ignition modual. I talk to them about it and we came to a agreement that i was sorta ok with (i still think it was somthing the shop should have taken care of) i dropped off the bike for them to do a diagnoses. They back burnered me and the bike for a week and a half and still couldn't tell me anything. I pulled the bime and my orderd parts on Tuesday and did it my self toom me 2hr should have taken them .5-1then the fork seals started puking (ok fine that kinda thing just happens) and now the starter needs to be replaced and other things i keep finding as i dig... moral of this is i question their ability to do a bike look over or for the shop to stand up and back a product the his name is sellin more

Almost a really good experience... 7/15/2011

I went in for a new tire and oil change thinking I was just gonna sell the bike. Scott helped me to see I should keep the bike if I just had some adjustments done. Despite having a quote of $25 less for tires elsewhere, Scott told me there was no other tire that is cheaper that would fit my bike. After a few weeks, I came back as advised to have things tightened up. I tried 3 times to ask him exactly what I would have to pay for on this return visit and he was very vague and said 10-15 minutes of work isn't going to be much. I was grateful that he was able to sell my old muffler to another customer but when he asked me for a cut I was a little taken back...I thought I helped in gain another customer that he then could charge for the labor to install it but he wanted a cut Plus $125 for the supposedly 15 minutes of bolt tightening. When I asked why it went from 15 minutes to 1hr and 15 min he became irate, turned red and almost started screaming at me as if I should know why. I had just paid him $1000 two weeks prior and we had set up $400 worth of work to do in the following month and then he flips out and treats me like crap for asking why the difference in time estimate. Last I knew, I was the customer and customers have the right to inquire what the workers do during the time they charge. Other reviews show Scott as taking advantage of people...I definitely felt that. I was the dummy and he was pulling the strings. That little freak out he pulled cost him my future business and hopefully that of those I tell. more

the "TITLE OF LIBERTY" bike 3/10/2011

Hey I have a custom chopper and I worry about taking it ANYWHERE!!! The guys that used to work on it sold their shop and moved so I was working on finding a new shop..I took it to fastbikes for a carb change and these are pretty good fellas to work with, decent prices too....and they did some extra stuff just because they saw a problem on a different part of the bike...just the kind of stuff I would do....so ya I would take ANY bike down to this shop.......they do good work and with everything so high priced nowadays these guys still give you decent work for a decent price.....Looks like I have found a new shop....Go check em' out....Kevin B. more

Fast Bikes Inc., A+ rating on this work order. 2/3/2011

Scott and his crew were very professional from the first phone call I made to when I arrived at the shop to drop off my bike. They called to apprise me with detailed updates of the status on the work order. Bottom line is that they fixed my RC51 without any issues but more importantly at a VERY reasonable cost. Their hourly shop rate is $10-20 cheaper than the average shop up here in Portland and their service charge that shops put on parts is a good 10% below the big shops. Furthermore, Scott personally diagnosed and ?troubleshot? a fuel issue on my bike that ended up being a quick simple fix. Many shops would have simply started replacing parts and jacked up a large labor and part bill. I will recommend Fast Bikes Inc. to my fellow Sport Bike riding friends and to my Harley riding crew as well. Thanks Scott, keep up the good work and don?t let the few ?home mechanic? critics get you down. \r \r Reconnaissance Rangers lead the way!!! \r \r August 2011 Update: I took my Buell Fir more

I will bring my bike here again 10/31/2008

As a beginning rider with little knowledge of bike mechanics I was concerned about the possibility of a shop trying to scam me. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with Fast Bikes-they treated me fairly and did not try to make me feel stupid for not knowing much about bike repair. Next time there is something wrong with my bike I will not hesitate to bring it there for service. more

Wrenchers are good but owner is a dumb snake 9/7/2008

The wrenchers & staff are good peeps. I really liked them. In-fact I liked everyone and the dogs. But sadly... The owner doesn't seem to know much or whats going on. All I'm going to say is make sure he charges you fairly and get on-line and investigate the work being done on your bike. Don't just say OK to the bill. Ask questions. I felt that he throws in little extra charges here and there depending on how he reads your personality or how you react to him showing you work done on your bike. It is sad. Honesty seems to be a thing of a far past.... Anything for a quick buck I guess. ""A quick buck now proves NO bucks in the future"". Pros: Cool folks Cons: Sneaky charges to bill more

Great Carb Work! 7/30/2008

The mechanics at Fast Bikes know their stuff. They asked me a lot of questions about my carb problem and low and behold they fixed it. Friendly atmosphere, nice dogs and good prices. I have been to other places but I have found my go to shop. A+ Job guys. Pros: Great Mechanics more

I would go back!! 7/29/2008

I liked this shop a lot. Honest and fairly quick service. I thought the owner was pretty cool guy. The tire prices were really good. I am going back for sure. more

Friendly People 7/26/2008

Friendly People but cant be trusted. My experience with them still leaves me wondering how much more they would of got out of me if my intuition didn't tell me to me pull my bike out as soon as I did. I just let it go as a lesson. Life's too short. Ill just never go back. more

Shady and Slow 7/22/2008

The guy that runs the show is very shady and a flake. Nobody calls you. You have to keep calling them. (unless its pay up time) My story is too long for this post. Just be sharp if you leave your bike with them or you will be sorry. I prob would have never known about anything in my case except for the fact that I used to be a motorcycle mechanic myself + a yr at M.M.I. I live in apt now so I need to find an HONEST shop. I never told them I had experience. I just played dumb. And they played me for everything they could.\r Well, time to search for another.\r \r PS Notice the 2 previous reviews seem to be the same writing style. ???? hmmm... more

Great service, know thier stuff, reasonable rates 5/20/2008

I had a jet kit installed by Honda of St. John's, who couldn't manage to install the proper jets, even when given written instructions. I then took the bike to Honda of Gresham, who charged me 400 dollars to ""solve"" the problem by gluing half a coke can to the inside of my brand new K&N air filter (ruining it) and telling me my pipes were to narrow... Seriously. Pros: Service, knowledge, timeliness, price more

Solid service and reasonable prices. 7/18/2007

I was pretty pleased with the service I received at Fast Bikes. I?ve got an old Brit bike that has been heavily customized and as such has some issues. I?m not a mechanic so it was nice they did not treat me like an idiot over some of the (to them) simple questions I asked. The bike was having some issues kicking over and they repaired the muffler, made some adjustments to the engine and put in a more powerful battery. When I picked up the bike it kicked over on the first try. Really a nice surprise. Bike now performs really well (for a 36 year old Brit). They do a good job of explaining what they will do and how long they think it will take. They charge by the hour and I was a bit nervous about the bill but when I received the charges they were very reasonable. Pleasant surprise. They are not the best at keeping you updated and you are well served to check in with them periodically. It also took a long time to complete but I was not in a huge rush so this was less of an issue for me. It is a clean place with very friendly and knowledgeable people. I will use them again. Pros: Friendly knowledgeable staff and solid mechanics. Cons: A bit slow and could improve customer service. more

the kind of service a dealership won't give! 1/16/2007

My experience with Fast Bikes Inc. was great! I brought my bike in for a service and they went above and beyond. they charged me what they said they would and my bike was returned clean and ready to go. The staff was polite and didn't make me feel like the novice that I am. My old steed is running better than it has in years. I plan on returning with all my motorcycle needs. thanx FBI. Pros: kind and knowledgable staff Cons: had to wait on parts but understood more
