Falafel house is one of my favorite places to eat in downtown Santa Cruz and I’ve been going there for the last six years. Mike, the owner, always greets me with a friendly smile and stops what he is doing to chat for a few moments. The food is terrific, light Middle Eastern cuisine. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, just a simple cafe and nothing more. But the food is great!
Among my favorites on the menu are the following delicious delicacies:
The falafel sandwich- falafel balls covered in tahina sauce in a pita.
The peppersteak sandwich- thinly sliced beef with bell peppers, and onions in a pita.
The chicken schwarma sandwich- chicken cooked on a vertical grill and served in a pita with tahina sauce. The vertical grill allows the fat to drain off and makes the meat taste fantastic!
The kafta (lamb) combo plate- Kafta is grilled, ground lamb. It is served with tahina sauce on a bed of lettuce with pita bread, babaganough and tahina sauces for dipping the pita in.
Are you hungry yet?!! Let’s head for the falafel house!!
