I went for a throat sore and Dr Okiore discovered that my blood pressure was over 190.He sent me to the ER, paid a visit the following day, ordered my MIR and skull screening and we are working on my pressure now. I could have had a stroke but Dr Okiore acted fast and prevented this. Thanks! more

Great place for care 11/28/2008

I thought I was having sinusitis when I visited this facility. The doctor on duty, Dr. Okorie, correctly diagnosed me with bacterial Meningitis and subsequently managed me at the local hospital. Thanks to this great clinician, because I am not sure what would have happened to me if I had gone to another doctor as seemingly healthy as I thought I was. more

I was ripped off for a simple physical 7/7/2008

A simple immigration (green card) physical with Dr. Charles Okorie at Fair Lakes Urgent Care turned into a frustrating experience and an $800 nightmare. First of all, don’t be taken in by their stated price of $165 for the “basic immigration physical” when you call on the phone. I found out (too late) that it does not even include the mandatory PPD test & drawing blood & hidden fees which will quickly bring the cost to $270+. And it gets worse. I already had the required immunizations done (ie. MMR, Varicella, etc) so I carefully prepared my immunization records as proof so that Okorie can sign off on the INS form which is standard practice. We spent 10 minutes reviewing this record and Okorie then made copies of it, which I took as a sign that he found them acceptable. About a week after my physical, I was shocked to receive a new bill of $480 from the lab doing my blood work. To my bewilderment, a full set of costly blood tests (titers) was ordered to check for each and every one of the abovementioned immunities, which is ridiculous given that I have prior immunization records. When I went back to the clinic to clarify the extra tests, Okorie contended that he added the blood tests because my immunization record was “inadequate”. Surprisingly, this was the first time I was hearing of it. Now even if Okorie found my records inadequate, that does not mean he can willfully order $480 of blood work charged to me without informing me and getting my consent. After all, this is not ER – this is an elective physical. I plainly told Okorie that my total bill coming to $800 is totally absurd since most other clinics are charging $200 for the entire package including blood tests. He became indignant at my accusation and said that they are incomparable as “both Motel 88 and the Hilton hotel give you a room and a bed but one could be $50 and another could be $400”. He also said that since I signed the waiver, there is nothing I can do. Unbelievable. For comparison, my wife subsequently had the same immigration physical conducted in another clinic nearby which charged her just $150 with everything included, which was a breadth of fresh air. more

This place stays open late and is a great place to go if your regular doctors office is closed. They usually have very long wait times though even if they don't have a lot of patients. But they are very friendly and they will send you to a specialists if they think you need one. They also will do a follow-up phone call to see how well you are doing. more
