I needed an eye exam and new contacts, and I decided to visit Eyeland Vision because they sent me a promotional mailer that offered a great package deal. If I would have written my review the day that I had my appointment here, I probably would have given them four or five stars.
I was very impressed with the optometrist, Dr. Nicole Noska. I have had many eye exams through the years and hers was one of the most thorough I have ever had. She talked to me about specific issues with my eyes and even identified that the redness and tearing I experience frequently is probably related to allergies.
After my appointment, I had my fitting for my contacts and placed my order. Since I was getting the same brand that I had worn for years and my prescription hadn't changed much, I was told that I didn't need to schedule a "follow up" appointment. I was told that my contacts should be in within 3 to 5 business days. This is where the "fun" began.
My contacts are supposed to be changed every two weeks. When it was close to the two week mark, I called to check on the status of my contacts. At first, they had difficulty even locating my information and then when they did, they told me that they had not yet placed the order because they were waiting for me to schedule a follow-up appointment. I told them that the doctor has said no follow up was needed and that she had conveyed this to the person who fit my contacts on the day of my appointment. They did not apologize and simply said that they would place the order and that they should arrive in 3 to 5 business days.
After a week and a half, I happened to be in the area running errands and since I hadn't heard anything from them, I stopped in to check on the status of my contacts. It took about 20 minutes and three different employees before they could even locate my file. When they did, they told me that my contacts were on back order. I was frustrated that no one had bothered to contact me to let me know about this. I asked when I could expect them and they told me it was unknown at this point. I did ask for another "trial" pair in the meantime, and they did provide me with one.
About a week later, they called to update me on the status and indicated that they were still on back order. It was six weeks from the date of my appointment before I actually received my contacts.
Perhaps this was an isolated incident. They did mention that the company that they purchase their contacts from had recently merged with another company and that was the reason for the delay. I understand that things happen, but I think that in these situations, communication is key and I was very frustrating that they failed to keep me informed.
As I mentioned initially, I thought the eye doctor was great, and I would definitely go back to her, but I would probably take my prescription and order glasses or contacts elsewhere based on this experience.
They do take appointments and they allow for walk-ins. If you would like more information, you can visit their website at:
