For a fun, out of ordinary date, I went to the Tactile Dome and had a great time. I've been to the Exploratorium many times and always enjoyed myself. So if you're into science and discovery and learning, this is a great place to spend an afternoon. more

  • In Short
This playground provides a fun, interactive way to learn about the mysteries of science. Part of the Palace of Fine Arts, it's also a great chance to see some of San Francisco's historical architecture. Watch a cow's eye dissection, test your sense memory, examine fruit flies through a microscope, cavort in a shadow box and blow mega-bubbles. Or crawl, slide and stumble through the Tactile Dome, a pitch-black labyrinth that puts non-visual senses to the test.
