I feel very fortunate to have gone to a place like Eureka. Though I attended this school for too long to be able to give it a perfect rating (what school is really perfect anyway?), a highly dedicated core of teachers (many of whom could give most of my college professors a good run for their money) and a flexible and versatile administration make this school a real standout.
In particular, I can attest to the broad support of advanced coursework (in the form of AP classes) that has continued to help me immensely in my new school. Taking advantage of these classes can later give students a chance to add another major or graduate from college early, not to mention the benefits obtained in admissions.
My only advice in dealing with Eureka is to get a student to make personal connections with the staff. Only when you make these sort of connections can you be your own best advocate. Rockwood School District is a bureaucracy like any other reasonably sized organization, and learning to maneuver through it will serve your student well both in high school and afterwards.
Plus, let's be honest. The sports teams at Eureka are all-around awesome and the band rocks out.
