I LOVE THIS PLACE! My kids love it, coworkers too. My kids love the pork dumplings, always perfectly...

Blah! Could not get home to wash the 6/1/2012

Blah! Could not get home to wash the taste out of my mouth fast enough. Food all tasted the same and was was sugary sweet. I could only get down a few bites. Furthest from authentic Thai I've ever had. Furthest from edible food I've ever had. Place was fairly empty but not a lot of attention from the staff. No plans to go back. more

Bad Customer Service 9/28/2011

The food was ok - not fantastic. What amazed me was the way the servers talk to customers and overall level of customer service. I went there for a business lunch with 2 colleagues and after their lunch came out we all sat there looking at each other joking about where my food my have been. 5 min passed and I had to get up and go find someone to bring me my lunch. They were rude when I finally did find someone to ask about my lunch. Called back to speak to a manager and the person that answered said that I should not have called so early (it was 10:50 AM) because they were too busy getting ready for lunch....""didnt I know this was a restaurant, you should not call us now"". I will never go back. more

Nice Place to go eat... 6/5/2010

My friends & family talked about this place many times, But I do not have a chance to go try it. So my friends took me to this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is very nice & the food was great! We all love Shrimp Rolls, Dumpling, Coconut Soup. Pad Kee Mao Noodle Chicken & Pad Thai Shrimp was great! I love the Green Tea Ice Cream. We enjoyed it! & we will be back for sure! Pros: Great food Cons: Good service more

Yes, there WAS a roach 5/5/2010

I had read the previous reviews about people seeing roaches. I didn't want to try this restaurant, however my boyfriend had been there several times and said the food was good. Jokingly I looked for roaches on the wall and beneath the table when we first arrived but didn't see any. As the appetizer arrived and the food was served I completely forgot about the previous reviews where roaches were spotted. As the waiter/owner was clearing off the table after dinner, sure enough there crawls a baby roach across the table. The owner quickly picked it up and got rid of it, thinking I didn't see it. When he came back (after we had already paid the bill) I asked him about the roach. His response was ""Oh that little black thing, no that was no roach"" and quickly walked away. Clearly it was a roach. I will NEVER go back there again, even though the food was good. Pros: Food was good Cons: Roaches more

More Roaches 3/18/2010

This place has roaches. A colleague and I had lunch here and after we had finished our lunch we noticed roaches on the wall and a roach crawling on our table. We were disgusted and couldn't believe they demanded us that we pay for our meals. I will never come here again... I will Marvin Zindler was still here... he would have this place shut down in a heart beat.... DO NOT patron this establishment.... Pros: None - Food is bland Cons: Roaches more

Roaches!! 3/15/2010

Just ate lunch at Erawan because I've liked their food the times I have been. While sitting at our table 3 roaches crawled on it. I went to tell the Manager and another lady overheard me and said there were some at her table too. I will NEVER go back!! more

Nice Restaurant Off the Beaten Path 3/7/2006

I have dined at Erawan several times and each time the food experience has been wonderful. I have tried the red snapper, red curry, pad thai, crispy spring rolls and my favorite penang curry(chicken). I enjoy spicy foods and they deliver. You get a large plate of food with more than enough to take home. One complaint that I do have is they do not serve enough spring rolls if you order an appetizer. The environment is mellow and casual. The waiters are not aggressive but more than helpful if you want more information on a dish. Do bring a light sweater or jacket if you are cold natured because it has been chilly every time I have visited. But that might be due to the spicy foods. The prices are reasonable from $10 - $20 dishes with most averaging around $15 (I've always gone for dinner). Pros: Quality Food, Value for Money, Quiet Cons: Chilly inside more

Great Food 1/1/2006

I have eaten here about 10 times. The food is fantastic. My favorite is the Pee Mow Fried Rice with beef. It is labeled as very spicy on the menu, but I always ask for it a bit hotter with some extra hot sauce on the side!!! (this food is not for wussies!) The prices are very reasonable. As for those who reviewed this place saying they were short staffed. This can be true at times, but they are very quick. The person who complained of waiting 15 mins seems a bit uppity to me. I have waited an hour at times at other restaurants and paid more for food that was crap. The staff is very friendly and the food is awesome. Pros: Great Parking, Inexpensive, Great Service more

Not So Great Food - Terrible Service 6/6/2005

I went to this place for lunch the other day. As I walked in, there was nobody to show me where to sit. After awhile, I decided to sit myself. At the time there were only two wait staff working. So I waited patiently for 15 minutes before the wait staffs acknowledge my presence. I ordered one of their lunch specials, Beef with sautéed vegetables in GARLIC SAUCE. What I got was Beef with vegetables with GINGER SAUCE. It would have been OK if the beef wasn't so tough, the vegetable were steamed instead of sautéed, and the broth used to deglaze the pan for the GINGER SAUCE tasted fishy (FISH STOCK). About the only order I enjoyed was the soup. It was similar to another soup dish called 'SINIGANG', where the base is either a fish/shrimp or beef stock braised with 'TAMARIND' to give it a sourly taste. Pros: inexpensive, good parking Cons: not enough waitstaff more

Great Little Thai Place 10/25/2004

I've eaten a lot of pad thai in my life, in a lot of different places, and I have to say that Erawan's is the absolute bar-none best. Of course, the other dishes are all excellent as well -- try the yellow curry (with a hint of jasmine in it!) or the red curry (if you like star anise, which it is heavy on) as well. Every dish I've had here is delicious and wholly authentic tasting. Also, every time I walk in, I get the feeling that the place was just freshly scrubbed. It's very clean and tidy inside, and the bathrooms are impeccable. To me, that says a lot about an establishment. Lastly, you can't beat their lunch specials -- an entree, spring roll, and cup of soup for around $6.95. Try it! You'll love it!!! Pros: Excellent food, Very clean, Good service more

The food is excellent!!! 9/1/2004

Every dish I have tried is excellent!!! Have been going to this restaurant since they opened on Richmond. It is a little further trek for me since they moved, but it is worth it! Pros: Great Food more

Best Thai food in Houston 9/30/2003

having been to a lot of Thai restaurants like Nit Noi, Thai Gourmet and Paddy Thai but this restaurant is the best. This restaurant was featured on the Houston Chronicle dining guide on Aug. 29, 2003. I tried it on the same day and has been back 2-3 times a week. The Shu Shee Pla is a wonderful dish of red snapper fillet. There are a lot of other wonderful dishes there like the ever standard Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Pineapple Fried Rice, Laab and Panang Beef. Among the deserts, Sticky Rice with Mango and Fried Ice Cream stand out. The owners and the staff are very friendly. For wine drinkers, they have a BYOB policy and they do not change corkage for it. Most entrees are 7.95 with specials at 12.95 or so. This is definitely the best value and the best tasting Thai food in Houston. Pros: Food, Service, Parking more
