Try Her Out! 11/13/2009

My long time massage therapist just informed me she has been hired at this location. I was seeing her at Five Points Academy in Soho and believe me when I say I will def make the trip to see her on the UWS. Norah has magical hands that will find every knot and sore spot in your body and make you feel whole again. Many a time I have called on her to relieve the aches and pains that come with training hard. I recommend you give her a try. You won't regret it!!! Pros: Client centered, very intuitive more

Got a rash 10/11/2008

At first I like Equinox and used the machines a lot. I got a rash from something there and had to put a special cream and take medicine to fix it. We think I got it from the machines or the exercise mats which smell. A lot of people sweat all over the mats and I don't think they're cleaned. Pros: They have towels Cons: Not cleaned more

Overcrowded classes 12/11/2004

The Saturday morning and evening classes are so packed that it's impossible to get a good workout. It's an accomplishment just to avoid getting injured. The Body Sculpt classes at popular times are becoming dance-y 80's style aerobic classes with difficult to follow routines because they're too crowded to allow room for weights or body bars. These classes are not worth the steep membership fees. And if you have to hire a personal trainer to get a good workout, why pay so much for the overhead of classes? Although I joined when the 92nd & Broadway club opened, I'm not renewing -- it's just NOT WORTH THE MONEY anymore. Cons: , Very expensive more

So NOT worth it 6/12/2004

On the surface, this Equinox seems well run and luxurious. Trust me, IT'S NOT. Don't be fooled by the obvious -- you can get unlimited clean towels and a treadmill at any gym. Try one of the five others in the neighborhood. You'll get the same experience at a fraction of the price. If you like taking classes and you have a day job, this is not the gym for you. The few decent classes offered in the evening are packed so you barely have room to move and the studios get disgustingly hot and humid. The instructors aren't very creative or motivating. Crunch is way better. The rest of the staff isn't any better. If you do join, beware the cancellation policy. They automatically re-enroll you each year so you have to give them 45 days notice in person before your year is up or you're out another $200. Cons: , Bad Classes, Bad Value more

Clean, professional, awesome gym 3/21/2003

This is the best gym I've ever had. My trainer, Jose, is totally professional. I don't know why everyone has been having issues with this gym- maybe they have been changing things. it's DEFINITELY worth the money, considering what you get at other gyms for only slightly lower fees. the cleanliness, pleasing decor, locker rooms with nice amenities, friendly staff and great classes make such a difference that i'm willing to pay for. Pros: Clean, Smells nice, Great staff, trainers, Open Long Hours Cons: Pricey more
