Editorial review from Citysearch 8/20/2012

Highly recommended---she is a very intelligent dermatologist who was able to diagnose and effectively treat my difficult skin condition in an efficient manner. She is always professional and focused. more

Dr. Sylvie Eppelbaum is not the sweetest and warmest doctor you will meet, but if that is not important to you, let me tell you my experience:\r 1. First she gave me a cream for my face for a treatment and it wasa nightmare. the cream gave me more of a problem, it was suppose to treat rosaccea adn it gaveme rosaccea 10 times of what I had for 2 weeks. It was horrible.\r 2. Do not expect to get a lot fo information about your problems, almsot have to push to know what is gogin on. But she loves to have you over and over weekly for treatments that cost a lot of $ to teh insurance although you hardly see any improvement., \r \r 4.Customer Service when it comes ot billing is horrible. Don't want to get into details but, there are plenty of other doctors in the city with excellent reviews. more

Worst doctor ever 2/22/2012

This is worst doctor ever! Careless, inattentive and slighting! Wait time is 40 minutes after arrival. The doctor doesn't listen, she prescribed me the same thing that I clearly told her, I have already used. NOT RECOMENDED more

Great Dermatologist 12/14/2008

I really like Dr. Epelbaum. My wife and I have been going to see her for over a year now, and she has been great. We've never had to wait for our appointment. She is very prompt and has quick appointments, but always answers any questions I have, and is always professional. She has a french accent, but I have always been able to understand her. Pros: Professional, quick to see patients Cons: French accent :) more

Great doctor, really caring 10/27/2008

Dr. Sylvie Epelbaum is no-nonsense, practical, and will get to the root of your skin problems. I've seen numerous dermatologists since I was 14 adn at 29 I'm was still having severe breakouts. wehn I saw Dr. Epelbaum I'd tried just about every oral antibiotic there was and cream, none of which was obviously working. she took me off the oral antibiotics and prescribed a strong retin-a gel and some sulferic face washes which has cleared up my face for the first time in what seems like forever, plus I didn't have to resort to Accutane, which I really didn't want to do and had been recommended by other doctors. I just wish I had gone to her sooner, because now I feel free to go without make-up and I'm loving it. Pros: never waited more than 10 min., caring, effective more

Waste of time and money 7/30/2008

I saw this doctor for the first time last month and i waited to see her for nearly an hour, when i did finally see her, it was for all in a total of 3 mins, she rushed me so fast, i was shocked, asked if she took the time to see what the issue was and she said she knows what it is. The whole vibe of the office is shady, its like a mum and pop shop\r I went there again today for a follow up and called twice to make sure she wasnt busy only to get there again and be kepy waiting, i told myself this is crazy, and i left without seeing her, i only found out about her because i needed a place near my office, i will never be going back, totally unprofessional, waste your time, seems friendlier to people to who speak french, i guess because she is french\r Not recommended at all Cons: Everything more

Avoid this doctor!! Total Rip off! 2/14/2008

Dr. Epelbaum saw me for about five minutes and prescribed an over the counter remedy that I especifically told her I had been trying for a year with no results. She could not identify my condition and insisted on me coming back for a small procedure to find out what the problem is... I wonder how many visits it would have taken to do that! When I showed the prescription to the pharmacist he laughed at my face! ( I guess I should have read it before I gave it to him lol). Will not go back, wasted my time and money... totally unprofessional.\r Cons: Everything more

Great Dermatologist 5/3/2007

Dr. Epelbaum quickly reviewed my condition and promptly made a diagnosis. She prescribed a treatment and within a few days my condition dramatically improved. I had been seeing another doctor for two months who had not been able to help me. The office staff was very pleasant and the waiting time typical for a New York practice. I highly recommend Dr. Epelbaum. Pros: Caring and knowledgable doctor, Helpful office staff more

Finally a Dermatologist with the right Diagnostic and treatment 10/9/2006

Finally Dr Epelbaum had the right diagnostic and treatment after i went to see many other dermatologists...she was very nice , considerate , i waited not any longer than to any other Doctor office in the city . The staff was very nice. more

Avoid Dr. Epelbaum 8/13/2006

I was surprised by several things with my visits to this doctor's office: 1. They asked for my copay, before I was even given any treatment-- not to mention that they don't accept credit cards (cash and check only). 2. Dr. Epelbaum spent a total of 4 minutes looking at my skin and misdiagnosed it-- which required me to have additional visits to her office. 3. The later visits I had were just more misdiagnoses, which required a separate copay each time, as well as much time off from work.\r \r In general, I felt that Dr. Epelbaum tries to limit the amount of time she spends with each patient and does not do her job properly (considering her consistent misdiagnoses of my condition). Each time I visited her, she would quickly glance over my skin with her magnifying glass and write a prescription-- without really describing what I had and which always led to more problems/wasted time.\r \r I am very disappointed, considering that she was very highly recommended by my friend's law firm, and am now seeing another doctor.\r \r Dr. Epelbaum was of no help in treating my condition, and she was not really friendly either.\r \r I strongly recommend that people *NOT* see this doctor. Cons: everything more

Long Wait, If you're not French 2/27/2006

I am so glad someone else had the same experience as me. I have been going there for six years annually and am always made to wait up to one hour past the appointment time, which is surprising because she only gives me a cursory check up that lasts maybe ten minutes. Of course, if you are French then you automatically jump ahead in the queue, which might be one reason the French consulate has her listed, or vice versa. On the positive side, she's nice and caring and seems smart. Pros: nice person Cons: WAITing room more

Really disappointed 9/19/2005

After being made to wait for an hour, I was in and out of her office in less than 5 minutes. What startled me was, being a dermatologist, she didn't even look at my face properly. I tried explaining my problems with acne to her and she just asked me to use Benzaclin and see her in 3 weeks. I told her repeatedly that I've been using Benzoyl peroxide for a long time and it has stopped working on me; but she wouldn't listen. I'm gonna try this cream for 3 weeks and if it doesn't work, I'll have a thing or two to say to her when I see her next. She behaved like she was in a big hurry and I was just a hindrance to her busy day. Very disappointed. Pros: Starbucks close by! Cons: Bad service, Unconcerned doctor, Stuffy waiting area more

Great experience 9/22/2004

Was recommended by my friends to pay her a visit regarding a problem I was having. The doctor was thorough in her evaluation. She asked all the right questions and got right down to business. She was kind and patient and genuinely concerned for my well-being. Her staff was cheerful and helpful, and the wait was about 20 minutes. Then again, I could have been a few minutes early. I absolutely recommend her. Pros: Knowledgeable, Kind & Sincere, Midtown location more

Terrible 7/9/2003

Dr. Epelmbaum spent 45 seconds with me in her office after I had waited almost an hour past my appointment time. Not only was my brief examination rushed and unorganized, Dr. Epelmbaum made little effort to disguise her disinterest in hearing from me. Terrible. more

Long Wait, Not Worthwhile 6/23/2003

After waiting 30 minutes or more each time we have an appointment, both my roommate and myself were in and out of the Dr's office in less than 5 minutes. The Dr. is NOT thorough when dealing with a variety of conditions you may visit her to inquire about. She is running a business; not a helpful Derm practice. Do NOT go see this Dr. if you are expecting a thorough examination each time you see her. Pros: Takes BlueCross Insur more
