Embers offers a school-wide program of character formation which centers on the development of virtues. Seven virtues are fundamental: responsibility, sound decision-making, courage, self-control, faith, hope and love. Other virtues of special relevance are friendship, cheerfulness, order, respect for freedom, industriousness, and courtesy. The virtues are taught through adult example, directed practice and explanation.
