This is my first post here. Pros: FRIED CHICKEN

Worst

I have been an Elizabeth's patron for several years and have always looked forward to brunch there. My most recent visit, however, was most disappointing and was likely my last.

Bywater breakfast at its best 10/30/2007

Elizabeth's is surely a place to visit for breakfast in Bywater, especially on the weekends. But make sure you arrive early, otherwise you will be ""forced"" to go upstairs and drinks a couple of mimosas or bloody mary's. Torture in the nth degree. Anyway, not known by most, but known by those in the know, so go early and enjoy! Pros: Alcohol and breakfast, need I say more? Cons: Waiting an hour to get a plate of scrambled eggs more

Fabulous Brunch 8/24/2006

Went there several years ago during the Jazz Festival. It is now on our list of can't miss spots whenever we go to New Orleans. The Waffles are unbelievable, warm, with fresh fruit and homemade whipped cream. My husband loves the spicy sausages and egg dishes that are served. The interior is really fun, and the serving staff is warm and friendly. We haven't made it for dinner yet, but hope to on our next trip. Pros: Great food, bright friendly atmosphere, great service. Cons: Little hard to find first time around. more

Favorite Lunch Spot 12/29/2004

I'm a local and Elizabeth's is one of my favorite places to eat lunch. They have daily specials that change from week to week. All of the desserts are made in-house. This restaurant has a wonderful neighborhood feel. more

Great Find! 12/12/2004

8 of us showed up at 10:30 on Saturday morning, put our name on the board and were seated within 30 minutes. The wait staff was charming, knowledgable and very good. Loved the stuffed oysters and the gumbo was very good. The desserts looked great but we were STUFFED by that point. A very affordable and delicious experience - we'll be back. Pros: Food, Service, Value more

Down Home Done Good 6/23/2004

A very popular place for locals. It's unassuming but once you're seated be prepared for some of the best and most filling entrees east of the FQ. I had South Carolina quail in a tasso, leek and thyme gravy. I felt like a fat, happy cat when I was through. And I now totally understand the sign at the cash register---""You want SECONDS?!"" Pros: neighborly feel, helpful wait staff, food, food, food, food more

Better than BAM 5/15/2003

Give me Elizabeth's over that other famous E restaurant anytime. The Praline Bacon, Eggs Elizabeth, Redneck Eggs Benedict - poached eggs perched atop fried green tomatoes instead of english muffins - this is my favorite favorite breakfast place of all time. The only downside is it's new-found popularity is making it harder to get a seat! Pros: FOOD!, Huge Portions, Friendly Service more

BAM! 4/4/2003

Some of you folks in the audience have never been to Elizabeth's. Let me tell you this is the place. Good solid breakfast, tasty po'boy sandwiches, and deelicious lunch plates keep the Bywater locals coming back daily. Wait it gets better. For the big eaters at home they got some fine desserts. I'm talking Red Velvet Cake, Bread Pudd'n, and homemade ice cream. You gotta check this place out. BAM! Pros: service, lunch specials, affordable Cons: a times crowded, no dinner more

Amazing 1/4/2003

Southern Hospitality at its best 9/23/2002

We found Elizabeth's by accident but go there now EVERY trip. Call ahead and find out what day they are serving their INCREDIBLE fried chicken. Also try the Hummingbird cake. In fact everything we've ever had there is delicious. This is hands down our favorite restaurant in New Orleans, and well worth the cab ride into bywater. It's about a $5 cab ride each way from the Quarter, perhaps $7 each way from the CBD. Pros: Great Food, Great Value, Great Service Cons: Crowded, Not open for dinner more

Down home done to perfection 5/16/2002

No other restaurant gives such a convincing approximation of dining in someone's quaint kitchen. From the grandma's-house decor to the solid menu of home-cooked favorites, Elizabeth's delivers on every aspect of homey authenticity. Breakfast selections are fair, although the hash brown potatoes are crispy and excellent. The roast beef po-boy is pound-on-the-table good. more
