The Electric Maid is a tiny little room located in the same shopping center as a Dry Cleaner where locals (mostly a lot of teenagers) can go to listen to music, hear famous people speak (Ralph Nader stopped by once--but had stuff thrown at him) and just hang out. A lot of the lesser-known or local punk bands like to stop in here, which means that on Friday and Saturday night this place and the surrounding area is buzzing with teenagers with leather jackets, multiple piercings and spikey, colorful hair. But it is a great place to go if you are into this scene. It is easily accessible by metro (it is across the street from the Takoma Park station). Let me reiterate that it is really small, which means if you are going on a busy night, prepare to stand outside or be stuffed like a sardine inside.
