Its ok... 2/8/2008

Decent service, food taste very good, but I felt I overpaid just couple a little bit for Mexican food. Its like the local version of Out of The Border in the city. Do not get me wrong prices are less than $20 but a real Mexican restaurant in South Philly will be much cheaper. Its just ok. Pros: Food and Menu Cons: Like going to chain restaurant more

you literally CAN'T wait to eat 2/11/2007

can't comment on the food because we didn't eat it. and, from the treatment we were given by the host, you'd think that they didn't actually want us to. upon arriving with our party of 6, we were told that we had to wait for a table, but that we couldn't actually wait in the restaurant for it. could we perhaps sit and wait at one of the numerous, large empty tables in the front of the restaurant, we asked? no, those tables are reserved, we were told. so we left and quickly found another place that would allow us to remain both before and during our meal. Pros: prompt, albeit idiotic service Cons: idiotic service more

My first experience with reall mexican food was here at El Azteca and it was awesome! My boyfriend and I just went this past Saturday and the you definitely get a lot of food. My boyfriend is the kind of person that will finish his plate in about 5mins and still be able to share your plate, but not an El Azteca he was unable to finish his steak burrito which was the size of his 10"" oblong plate and topped with white melted cheese. I definitely recommend this place. Pros: Inexpensive, Large Portion sizes Cons: not enough parking more

alright food, good drinks 8/8/2005

My friends and I enjoy hitting up El Azteca for authentic (not Taco Bell) Mexican food and good times. The food has never been out of this world to me but after drinking a few Coronas or Dos Equis makes it all worth the trip. more

Poor Service 7/19/2005

I went to the restaurant in the NE and was so upset with the service. It was very very poor! Our food took almost an hour to get. The waitress didn't even ask if we needed anything. I had to keep getting her attention to give us things and she never gave me what I asked for!!! Our food finally came, she forgot my son's food. She didn't give us sufficient napkins, didn't refill our drink, she disappeared and didn't see her until I got up to pay. She was unpleasant! I just don't understand why the service sucked?!?!?! We were the only ones there!!! I never had a problem the the one in SJ. Pros: can't think of any Cons: parking, enviroment, customer service more

I have nothing but good things to say about the food. My only problem was with the waitress who took forever, both to sit me and to take my order -so much so that I chose to take out. more

Finally, authentic Mexican!! 9/23/2003

Being originally from the South, where authentic Mexican food abounds, I was very disappointed when we moved to Philly 2 years ago. We found plenty of TexMex places (the spicy stuff, what most people think is authentic Mexican), but the real stuff was hard to find. What a relief to stumble upon this place! The food is fabulous, albeit the service is slow. If you want AUTHENTIC Mexican food, this is the place for you! Pros: Food, Inexepensive Cons: Service can be slow more

Makes Taco Bell sound Delicious 5/2/2003

K... first of all let me say the service at Taco Bells drive through far exceeds the service here! SERIOUSLY! And the food leaves a lot to be desired. It sure did'nt taste all that authentic and fresh to me. I guess if you've never tasted authentic Mexican food you may find this place good. This place is cold, not just the service but the food and the temperature too! Pros: Close, Mexican Beer Cons: Service, Food, Atmosphere more

Don't waste your time or $ 3/6/2003

I went to this place twice, at their 2 different locations, and the food was terrible both instances. There are much better Mexican restaurants in this city. more

Very Good Food Here 2/1/2003

The food was excellent...the service was prompt and attentive. There was no wait for seating. The restaurant was a little on the small size, and could not accommodate a large party. The food was presented nicely, and was extremely tasty. The prices were moderate. I would easily recommend this restaurant to friends more

Upgraded Taco Bell 2/1/2003

Food is good, while not totally authentic. Food is in great portions, prices are reasonable. Service leaves a lot to be desired in the Mt Laurel restaurant. It would help if more of the staff spoke English. Food is fresh, but sometimes slow to reach the table and not always what you ordered. Refills on drinks are hard to get. Pros: Clean, usually no waiting, reasonable prices Cons: service, service, service! more

FOOD HOT ROOM COLD 1/12/2003

MY EXPERIENCE WAS NOT A GOOD ONE. THE ENBVIRONMENT WAS OK. HOWEVER, THE PLACE WAS FREEZING. HOW CAN YOU SERVE HOT FOOD WHEN YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE SHAKING AND DINING WITH THEIR COATS ON. I COULD NOT RATE THIS ESTABLISMENT GOOD AT ALL. more

Authentic? Good Food? Si.Si,senor!!! 11/14/2002

Best Mexican food in South jersey. Food is freshly made and very tasty. Nice variety on the menu. Prices are fairly reasonable. Let's just say you get lots of food for what you paid for. Also, don't forget to bring your own tequila. They will make up a free pitcher of margaritas for you. Yum! Pros: inexpensive, good parking, Friendly more

Excellent! 10/28/2002

This, by far, is the best, most authentic Mexican restaurant around. The salsa and chips are amazing and the food and service are excellent. It's very affordable and some of the meal portions are large enough for 2 people to share (i.e. chicken fajitas). I live 30 miles from both restaurant locations but it's worth the drive. Pros: excellent food, affordable, great service Cons: not romantic more

Best Of Mexico right here! 8/1/2002

I thought the place could use a remodel but the food made up for it. Outstanding food, great portions. Felt like I woke up in Mexico! Pros: food, service Cons: parking, cleanliness more

Authentic Mexican Cuisine 7/29/2002

Best Mexican Restaurant that I have ever been to!! Where else can you go and get real authentic mexican cuisine?...Certainly not any of those trendy commerical restaurants! more

North of the border 7/13/2002

Speedy Gonzalez atmosphere. Parking is abysmal in the lot and on the street, there's a strip mall across the busy street where you should have no problem parking. As we walked in we were greeted by a smiling face and seated promptly as there was no wait (Saturday 7:00 P.M.). Our drink order was taken immediately and brought quickly, as were the warm tortilla chips and very tasty salsa. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready to place it, can you tell where Im going with the service? It was very good. Our food was brought out hot and without a very long wait. The food was pretty good, not authentic Mexican, but better then Don and Chi-Chis could do. If you seek Authentic Mexican try Tortuga's. Mexican Village Restaurant. 44 Leigh Avenue Princeton, NJ 08525, it may be a drive for you, but it is worth it. Pros: Friendly, reasonable priced Cons: Dirty floor, bad parking more

Viva Mexico 7/4/2002

This is the best mexican food I've ever had in Philly. I usually go to the one on Chestnut St. The food is fresh, delicious, and there's a lot of it. For center city the prices are cheap. The staff is very friendly, and a knowledge of conversational spanish will enhance the experience more

Best in NE 5/24/2002

Have been going since it opened, Food quality has declined a bit, menu has grown, service has not changed but the prices have went up, but not where I would not stop in for lunch or dinner. Best Mexican Restaurant in NE Philly. Pros: fun place, inexpensive, family oriented Cons: improve quality a bit, no parking, car doors hit cars more
