Their staff at the Memphis Downtown is amazing! Very friendly and helpful. This is our 3rd time coming here. We love Memphis and we will stay with them every time. more

Although staying at an Econolodge sounds not too appealing to everyone, this is really a great place to stay in Memphis. Just a few blocks (walking distance!) from Beale Street with just 10$ parking on-site, there is no better deal in downtown Memphis. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and the check in went smooth. What more do you need?! more

We had four family's stay at the Econolodge Downtown last weekend. The hotel, staff, price and location were all WONDERFUL. My husband and I travel at least twice a month and have stayed at alot of different hotels. I have to say this was the nicest one yet!!! If you are looking for a 4 star hotel, no this is not for you!!! However, it is TOP NOTCH for it's two star rating!! We will most definitley stay here again when in Memphis. more

My best friend and I (two ladies) stayed because of its location to Beale Street. It's a short 4 blocks down and we felt safe the whole time. There is a chilis and Denny's right up the block (between hotel and Beale) so there are plenty of people around and never felt unsafe. The hotel check it was easy. They even let us see a room before we paid because we were unsure after some reviews. The elevators are fine and take you up to the top to your room. Our room was very nice and clean including the bathroom/shower. more

If I ever get to go back to Memphis again, I will probably stay here. The money I didn't spend on the hotel room I was only in to sleep was better spent on museums, clubs and BBQ.\r \r The room was clean, the staff were cheerful and helpful and it was a quick walk to everything. I am a middle-aged white woman travelling alone and I felt safe walking. It's like any other city - pay attention to your surroundings and if the building under construction bugs you, walk on the other side of the street. \r \r I never had to wait terribly long for an elevator and sometimes I was packed in but that's just a chance to meet people and find out what's going on. The windows and walls are thin which wouldn't be a problem if everyone was there for the same thing but there were families and business travelers along with the tourists and if you happen to be next door to someone who has to get up at 6am, you are probably going to be woken up. Nothing to stop you from going back to sleep, though. more

We were a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but our stay was just fine. The location is good (5 min walk to Beal street), the staff were really friendly & helpful, the breakfast is fine and the rooms were comfortable and clean enough. It's dated and the building it's in isn't that nice but it was fine for us and perfect for our budget. more

Great little downtown hotel. Best price for the area. Easy parking ($10 extra per day), fast elevators and nice enough at the front desk. Great place, even though its old, it still has charm. Exceptionally clean for downtown Memphis and a short little walk down to the Beale Street nightlife. Would recommend to anyone. more

Decent accommodations, great location 8/26/2010

To be clear, I am not rating this as a 4 star hotel. I'd say this is more like 2 or 3 star lodging but I was VERY happy with my stay here for the price and location. In the heart of downtown Memphis, it was conveniently located within walking distance of tons of good restaurants, attractions, and Beale Street. We were only in town for one night but were able to easily walk over to dinner at the famous Rendezvous restaurant and hang out along Beale Street afterwards. As for the motel itself, it's an older building and the decor definitely reflects that. But the room is clean and comfortable, we were easily able to get a good night's sleep. There is also free parking which is a definite plus. And for being in the heart of downtown Memphis, we thought $70/night to be very reasonable compared to other options for lodging nearby. I would come here again, and would definitely recommend this place if you're in town and will be spending most of your time outside your hotel room and just nee more
