I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning than strolling through Eastern Market in Detroit. Although the address listed on this site is for the merchant's association the boundaries are roughly Gratiot Avenue, Riopelle St, Rivard St., and Division St. The produce sheds are fantastic, there is nothing you can't find there. In the winter there are vendors selling hot cider--buy it! There is always someone selling Amish popcorn; buy that too. The vendors around the produce sheds are fantastic too. Rocky Peanut, Rafal Spice Co., and R. Hirt Jr. to name a few. There are several butchers in the area if you want some incredibly fresh meats. You could spend the entire day here but you have to start early; try getting to the market by 7am. Parking is really easy, there are a few lots, some street parking and a cheap parking deck. You can't live in the Detroit area without visiting this place.
