EVC has been the ONLY place that I have bought cheese for the past 5 years. Do not heed the negative reviews, just b/c the cheese here is not 25$ per pound does not mean it is ba...

I realize that the price is right at this cheese store, but it is so for a reason....these are not good cheeses. Most are processed junk like havarti and provolone. The rest tend ...

Good Selection; Unbelievable Prices; Courteous Service 9/19/2010

While there are certainly other cheese shops with bigger, wider ranging selections, this store has a good enough range for me 19 times out of 20 and the prices make it the absolute best bargain in town for the varieties that they do sell. When's the last time you paid a $1.50 for a package of Boursin Cheese? Of course most cheese is cut and weighed to order. I also love their fresh non-commercial cottage cheese, cream herring and white fish salads; crackers, jams, gourmet condiments VERY reasonable in price. more

What a selection! 8/21/2005

You have never seen so many types of cheeses in your life! They got cheeses from Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Chile, and probably Inner Mongolia if you ask. There's also plenty of gourmet canned goods, smoked fish, olives (tr the San Guliano, nice and green), bread, and pastries. A gourmand's paradise. Lines can get quite long, and it's only cash, so bring the dough. more

The place for cheese lovers 8/18/2005

East Village Cheese does not look like much from the outside. But once you step inside, you are in cheese heaven. There is a cheese deli, where the staff are ready to cut you a hunk of any type of cheese in stock---which is any imaginable! They also have a refrigerated case with butter, Greek yogurt, and cheese specials. For a long time, they had Boursin for $1.75! In the grocery stores, it is $5.99! They also have an olive bar and a small grocery with many types of jams and crackers, as well as fresh breads and rolls. The prices are so cheap, you think it is 1972 when you get your final bill. All the cheeses are fresh and top quality. more
