Good place 12/14/2009

Just to put a more recent review out there: we have been buying wood from Dwayne for 5-6 yrs now. It's become a bit pricey ($314.50 for this last cord, delivered and stacked), but the quality of the wood is excellent--well seasoned but not so dry it burns too fast. We burned exactly one cord last winter. Also like the size of the logs: some good-sized back logs, some smaller ones to stack. Typical fire for us is only 4-5 logs & it burns until we go to bed. Delivery guy for us has always been Bobby, and he's friendly and down to earth -- will stack yr wood any reasonable place you want-- Pros: Good quality wood & good service Cons: Price more

Good wood at a good price 2/11/2007

I have to take exception to the person is said ""boo"" to Wayne Dougherty's firewood. My husband recently purchased some mesquite from a very helpful woman there and we have throughly enjoyed it. She was very helpful and pointed out the differences in the types of wood, allowing him to make his own choice, informing him that often times it's simply a matter of personal preference. \r \r The mesquite is a very hard, solid wood, burns slowly and emits an aroma that is well......a personal preference of ours now!\r \r Before you ""boo"" perhaps you should examine your options. My guess is that they would work with you if you are unhappy. Did you try that? I wood....er would. Pros: Good signage from Hwy 290 more

Oak will not burn; too recently cut 1/16/2007

Having wrestled with new wood last year from the various box stores selling it around town, we decided to venture further out this year. All the effort did not pay off. The man working was very short spoken and not very helpful. He did offer, when I asked, that the wood had been cut 11 months ago. I find this to be almost impossible, as we have placed these logs into *full burning fires* and they will do nothing but smolder at any point. Guess we should have been more skeptical and gone with the pine, since it burns easier in general, especially if risking buying fresh-cut. Boo to the smoke bomb in my fireplace while watching the rare Austin snow outside today. Boo. Pros: various types of wood; help with loading Cons: wood won't burn, unhelpful and unfriendly service more
