Very Malibu 4/10/2006

Although duke’s has a couple of other locations (in Hawaii and San Francisco I think?) the Malibu Duke’s truly makes you feel like you heart of Malibu. There are several surfboards set around the restaurant, and if you go to the Barefoot Bar, you can be seated in chairs on the sand with an ocean view. I definitely recommend going to the Barefoot bar rather than the actually restaurant, as the prices are much easier to swallow and the atmosphere more fun. The menu is much smaller in this part of Dukes, but if you go before 4pm you can get cheaper prices. I also recommend taco Tuesdays, where the fish taco’s (which are amazing) are all half off. more

Right on the Beach...Eating on the Sand 3/18/2006

Duke's is right on the beach on the Pacific Coast Highway and it is a great place to have dinner, get some drinks with friends, or if you love Sunday brunch theirs is delicious. They have an outdoor Barefoot bar that is right on the sand where you can sit with friends to eat, but be sure to beat the rush that comes often at night. Inside is a great Hawaiian atmosphere, and the food is unique. Taco Tuesdays are popular with the college students, and if you go for dinner call for reservations to get the ever prized ocean view window seats. more

The Barefoot Bar 1/17/2006

My friends and I used to go to Duke's. But once we all turned 21, I think we've maybe gone back there once. Now we all completely bypass the restaurant and head straight for the bar. There's an indoor and an outdoor, but we always sit outside, in the sand, in the danger of having the waves come up over the glass wall and dousing us (which I have, in fact, seen happen, though not to us). They have Taco Tuesdays, and other various days as such, all of which aren't the greatest of bargains, but you can't beat the atmosphere. The service is slow, and sometimes it's hard to get a table, but too bad, you're already in Malibu. The nachos and the drinks make it all worth it, though. Be sure to go early, they close at like 9:30. more

Nice location 7/27/2005

You can't really beat being a restaurant on the water. I mean you literally see the waves crashing underneath you. You can however, beat the food. The Sunday brunch is nice, it's nice to see a good fish served at a buffet. It is pretty expensive though. You're best bet is to make reservations in advance, parking can always be very interesting. I haven't been there for just a normal lunch or dunner, but I've heard that the food is never amazing. Go to enjoy the dining experience. more
