Great Chinese take out! 10/27/2008

This place has the best take out! The food is not the greasy, soggy Chinese food you may fearful of. The food has amazing flavor and is always fresh. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the chocolate flavored fortune cookies (note: you can take as many as you want...yum). more

Lighest Chinese food! 4/6/2007

Its a cute little place in the Marina. It is the lightest chinese food I have ever had and I never feel heavy afterwards. I love the salt & pepper calamari appetizer and of course their big dumplings. The Mongolian Beef, Hong Kong Noodles, Garlic eggplant are excellent delicious main courses. Pros: appetizers, dishes, take out Cons: Parking more

As good as it gets 1/5/2007

we live in the area and this is our favorite place to dine. for an appetizer the pork potstickers are the BEST and the chix lettuce cups are a good compliment. for entrees the walnut prawns, mongolian beef, and lemongrass chicken are great for a party of 4 to share. the best part is that you can actually tell you're eating beef or chix, unlike some other chinese restaurants that leave you guessing. another good entree is the beef chow fun. some get turned off b/c the menu says it is made with oyster sauce but don't let sway your decision as you won't even taste it. for beverages they have a great beer selection including Tsing Tao and Tiger. The wine list is also decent with prices that won't break your bank. lastly, for dessert they offer 2 kinds of fortune cookie: regular and chocolate which the wife really likes. You can't find a better value for a great dinner including drinks anywhere! the only cons are parking and it can be crowded at times. if you find yourself with a wait, go directly next door to the marina lounge for cocktail and the host / hostess will even come and find you when your table is ready! we love this place more

Totally average 12/4/2006

For the life of me, I cannot comprehend how this place got so many stellar reviews. Maybe we're spoiled, having moved here from NYC where the Chinese food is outstanding. We shared a number of dishes - the chicken in lettuce pockets, the crystal shrimp, the dragon beef, and the green beans - and none of them were something we would order again. In fact, we probably won't visit the restaurant again. Please tell me there is better Chinese food in the Marina/Cow Hollow district!! Pros: Chocolate fortune cookies Cons: Everything else more

Good cheap, chinese food and good ambience 10/27/2006

This quaint chinese restaurant in the Marina is no migrant from Clement. It's refined chinese and not so greasy plates make it a healthier choice over its cousins from China town or Clement. I don't recommend the prawns in Garlic sauce, but the Mongolian beef is the best in town. The portions are good, and the food is not too pricey, and they have good Chinese beer - go and enjoy your food. Don't expect the world, but its good Chinese grub at a good price! Pros: Cheap chinese grub Cons: Parking is a problem in the Marina more

One of the Best Chinese Restaurants in Town 10/3/2006

This is definitely one of the best chinese restaurants I have tried. Great food, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere in a great marina location. Can't ask for more. Pros: Quality food at good price more

Fabulous Chinese Food 9/20/2006

Great food, totally recommend it. Busy, cheery atmosphere. Marina Chinese-food prices, but what can you do? Great food, and you should completely go. Pros: Great Chinese Food Cons: A Little Expensive for Chinese Food more

Great find in the Marina 9/12/2006

I've lived in the area for a year now, but never ventured into the Dragon Well. Boy was I missing out! They served delicious prawns but the mongolian beef and lemongrass chicken, I thought weren't anything out of the ordinary. Overall, good service and great Chinese food. A must if you're in the area. more

great food, great service! 7/26/2006

I've been here 3 times and think that I liked it best during lunch just because it's not so crowded. Prices are reasonable and the food seems really fresh. Not your typical chinese place - a little bit more creative. The ambience is nice and the servers are willing to accomodate substitutions. more

Tasty, healthy and affordable food 6/2/2006

If you're looking for a chic, modern, and warm place to eat, you've found it. I had Lemongrass Chicken and Walnut Prawns, both delicious and flavorful. The Walnut Prawns are the best I've ever had at any Chinese restaurant. It wasn't too creamy, but just the right amount of white sauce and sweetness. Lemongrass Chicken had a great clean flavor that satiated my palate. The staff are very friendly and not intrusive, giving you just the right amount of space that you need. Pros: Food comes out FAST!, Very healthy! Cons: A little loud more

Very tasty 7/29/2003

I recently ate at the Dragon Well with a group of 7. The place is a bit crowded but reasonably priced and the food was really great. The lemongrass chicken is quite spicy - fyi Pros: Good Food, Reasonably priced, Good 'hood Cons: Parking is tough, Bit crowded more

Cookie Cutter 6/5/2003

The food was average to good. It is not much different than most other anglo-chinese restaurants. I will try again, as most people seem to like it. Our server was attentive and the prices are reasonable. more

GREAT! 3/7/2003

This is a great place. It may be in the Marina, but would fit well into any neighbourhood. Very good for a casual meal or takeout. more

Dragon Well Does It Well 11/21/2002

From the first moment I stepped into Dragonwell, I was in love. this is by far the greatest chinese restaurant in sf. fabulous food, great value. more

Feel Good Chinese food 6/12/2002

This is quite possibly the least-greasy Chinese food that I have tasted in the city. Though less than authentic, it is delicious. The potstickers are amazing...fresh and enormous. The walnut prawn are also very tasty...carmelized walnuts with batter fried prawns. For those who like spicy dishes, the szechuan chicken is a must. It is a small restaurant so reservations are a good idea. Cons: size more

No Grease! 6/12/2002

Good, healthy chinese food! Walked in, sat down, food came right away. Walnut Shrimp is a must have. more

Prefect For Takeout 5/20/2002

I love oredering the wonton noodle soup and rice and having take out. I agree the help could be a little better but if you catch this place on the off hours it is fine. Don't miss this place beacuse the food is definetley worth the trip. more
