I like it. 2/14/2012

I live in the '09 and there is NO good Chinese delivery. ...except for Dragon Garden. See what I did there? I read some of the other reviews and I think they are being a little unfair. I don't think cultural differences and/or language barriers can really be counted as rudeness or unprofessional conduct. The food is fantastic for the price and the delivery time issues others seem to be having are NOT universal. It may depend on how far away you live from the restaurant. Whenever I order their food it is routinely here within 25-30 minutes. Once or twice it arrived in under 20 minutes. I don't even know how they can cook it that fast. Not that I'd mind waiting longer as the quality of the food is very good. I've had worse food for which I've waited longer and paid more, I can tell you that much for certain. Eat it. You'll be glad you did. more

Don't be misled by their ""rudeness"" 2/20/2010

I have loved Dragon Garden since they first opened on West End. They didn't deliver to my house until they moved to Charlotte though. I have always loved Dragon Garden! No, it's not Goten or anything, but it's definitely a step up from your basic Chinese buffet. I have read a lot of the other reviews and let me just say, don't be misled by their ""rudeness"" or their ""unprofessionalism"" of their son answering the phone. I have interacted with these people for years. They are very kind and have always treated me with respect, I have never had any kind of billing problem with them. And honestly, their son just speaks better English than the owners do. When they were on West End, they had an older son that went to Hume Fogg. He pretty much ran the shop, I didn't think poorly of it. He was always just studying and answering the phone. Seemed disciplined line a bright kid. I assumed they're doing the same thing with their younger son too. AND the kids have never gotten my order wrong. The only thing I can really complain about is the delivery. They used to have a great guy that was very punctual and friendly. However, now it absolutely sucks. I do recommend just going and picking it up if your in the vicinity. Pros: Delivery, cheap, decent Cons: delivery time more

One of the best chinese food 1/18/2010

First time when i came to their new adress which is 4912 Charlotte Pike, it was great. The food was good especially the genral tso' chicken i had it tasted.Their kid seems nice to everyone there when i was there to be honest and i would recomend you people to come and order chinese from there cause it is good stuff. By the way sometimes about the delivery, it might take a while just around 45 mins - 1hr for mine to get here. Pros: best food i ever had more

pros & cons 4/27/2009

I agree with everyone about their kid answering the phone. We are new to nashville and tried 5 different chinese restaurants before settling on this one. This first time I tried it I ordered mooshu pork and hot and sour soup. Would not recommend either of these. However, I was introduced to their garlic chicken which is pretty good. The combination comes with an egg roll and pork fried rice for under 7. I can't ever finish it all. If you are in the neighborhood and want food delivered it's a good place. However, if you live/work somewhere that is not near by - i would not recommend. There are only 3 of them working there - you can't expect fast delivery, especially around a busy lunch time. And careful with what you order - some is good and some is bad. It's a hole in the wall chinese place. Don't expect greatness. more

Annoyed 12/12/2008

They are the only Chinese restaurant that delivers where I live and I've had two bad experiences. \r \r The first time, the lobster lo mein was fine except for one little thing. There was no lobster. It was crawfish. Luckily, I love crawfish, so I just laughed about it. Did they really think no one could tell the difference? And the hot and sour soup was... gross. I couldn't pin down what was wrong with it, but it was gross. \r \r \r The second time, I asked for a simple substitution of rice noodles instead of rice. I was ready to pay a little more for it, but they said no. I have no idea why they couldn't. The rice is cooked separately as are the noodles. And usually, with the dish I ordered, they just spoon the part with the meat and veggies on top of the rice and call it a day. So what's the difference? Spoon it onto the noodles instead of the rice and charge me for all the trouble it causes you! There was no reason to say no, so I just said ""no thank you"" and hung up. \r \r I give up. No Chinese delivery until I move *sigh*. Pros: Price Cons: Service more

Worst ever 9/7/2008

This is so bad. I have been waiting on my food for an hour and a half. A child took my order which made me feel really uncomforatable when I had to give him my credit card number which I repeated three times. I called and he says ""its on it way"" BEFORE I SAID ANYTHING AT ALL ... that was 30 minutes ago. Cons: everything more

Poor Customer Service 5/9/2008

The earlier review about the child answering the phone is dead on. Ordered delivery last Friday night. After waiting for over an hour I called and spoke to the child again who told me the order was on the way. The food was not good. Try somewhere else.... more

Extremely PLEASANT delivery person. 3/5/2008

I was working in the Nashville Convention center and this Delivery driver went out of his way to find the side enterence where i was located to deliver my food. He was nice, professional and polite. He went through alot of trouble for me. The prices were fair and service was spectacular. I would definatly recomend and order from these guys again! :) more

Stop having your kid answer the phone! 12/20/2007

I am very particular when it comes to eating Asian cuisine and when I find a place that I like I won't go anywhere else. Dragon garden is a place that I like. The food, when you pick it up, is excellent. Their delivery services leave a lot to be desired. The main problem I have with Dragon Garden is their customer service. They are rude 99% of the time, and maybe this is a cultural thing. I can understand if they are used to doing things differently, but that's no excuse. Their kid is always answering the phone and that is very unprofessional, along with the owners not being very courteous when you enter the store. So if you can ignore all the idiosyncrasies of the deplorable customer service then this is a place that's definitely worth taking a look at. Pros: Great food!! Cons: Terrible customer service!! more

Verbally abusive delivery drivers...yikes. 11/11/2007

After waiting more than an hour for my curry chicken, etc. (a delivery time I'm willing to forgive if the food is good), the delivery driver finally arrived and asked for my $14. I gave him a $20 and he asked me how much change I wanted. I told him to give me the change in ones (which I was planning to use to tip out accordingly.) He handed me $1--and that was it. I asked for the rest of it and he STARTED YELLING AT ME. He was so loud that my neighbors in the parking lot stopped talking and looked over.\r \r I had to ask him to STOP yelling at me and give me the rest of the change, which he did, while still yelling. Needless to say, I didn't tip. Here's a good tip though: Don't yell at girls, especially if you expect a tip. Plus, the curry chicken was horrific--all sauce and no chicken to be found. Gross! Pros: my food actually arrived... Cons: ...but it was toted in by a delivery driver in need of a serious attitude adjustment. more

below mediocre, ridiculous wait 8/31/2007

I called at 11:15. At 12:35 I received lukewarm, slightly bitter shrimp fried rice and a limp egg roll. I would have done better at the mall. I won't be calling them again. Pros: can't think of one. Cons: food was cold and low quality, took forever more

Child Labor laws 8/26/2007

First, let me say that logging into this site to comment is a pain in the posterior part of my digestive system.\r \r Second, as to Dragon Garden, the food is always good, and the delivery has always been good, for me. However, I tried calling in an order today and the small child they have answering the phone couldn't make heads nor tails of it. Is there a labor law violation here? Pros: Good food Cons: Stupid child trying to run cash register more

Horrible delivery times! I will never order from them again. I waited 2 hours for food that never arrived! 2/17/2007

I ordered delivery Saturday night and they quoted me 45 minutes to an hour delivery time. 2 hours later my food had still not arrived. When I called management for a credit or refund, they showed no remorse and denied my request. I ended up taking my family out to a lovely Chinese buffet for dinner for the same price. \r \r It's unfortunate for them that they don't put a better emphasis on customer service. My husband and I had been their customers for years. Now we will find someplace else for our take-out and delivery. Cons: Parking, Bad Part of town at night (new Charlotte Ave location), Long Delivery time more

Location has changed 8/24/2006

The location has changed to Charlotte Ave. across the street from Richland park. The food is nothing special. I got the chicken mai fun with some egg rolls. It was kind of bland. Egg rolls were just a tad greasy. The portions were very generous and the prices were good. They do have seating in the place now. Not bad but not what you can get in NYC. This place still leaves me looking for a Chinese restaurant in Nashville that doesnt taste like I am at a food court in the mall. Maybe with all the urban renewal going on we will get lucky soon. Pros: Lots of food for the money Cons: Yet another average Chinese restaurant. more

Delicious and Inexpensive 8/24/2006

Dragon Garden is a wonderful Chinese restaurant. The food is delicious, and it costs very little. Delivery is extremely fast as well. I highly recommend it! Pros: Fast Delivery more

You won't do better in Nashville 10/19/2005

Nashville's not been offered much credible (or very edible) Chinese food at all, and stuff that would be a joke elsewhere gets praised here--but this is one place that I've found locals raised on Chinese food in say, New York or San Francisco can and do live with happily--wishing that had more of an ""eat it there"" side. It's not Chinaown gourmet--but as good as good neighbohood places in those Chinese Food-friendly and knowledgeable cities. If you don't like the delivery time--call in and pick it up! more

Good Food 9/7/2005

I've been eating at this restuarant since 1999 and used to have it delivered almost every day for lunch with satisfaction. The time it takes to receive it might not be excellent but for the most part the food is great. I even go in to pick up know and the food is the same. I give them a thumbs up for the 95% of the time the food is right. I think one will enjoy this cheap eat! Pros: inexpensive, fullfilling, great Cons: bad location, delivery sucks more

i even got an eggroll;) 8/11/2005

I called them at 1:17pm and ordered a lunch special and the guy was at my place by 1:28pm! The delivery man was very nice, but the woman on the phone was kind of hard to explain and she told me to pay in cash. It is a great deal if you have a little cash and you only want to pay 5 bucks for lunch...with a tip, of course. I'll call them again. Pros: Good Food, Fast, Cheap Cons: Woman on the phone more

every once in a while 7/18/2005

The place is nothing special when you dine-in. But as long as you don't mind waiting a hour plus for your food that you order at Noon, you won't be disappointed. The hot and sour soup is great, but I have noticed that every luncheon special seems to have a lot of broccoli. Like I said, the delivery takes forever, but when it's been really late one of the ""managers"" delivered it herself with apologies. Also, there's a $.50 charge for using your debit card. Also, a deal for under $5 and the min. order is $10, not $15 like other places. Pros: Great Hot & Sour Soup, Good Food, Plenty of condiments Cons: Always slow delivery, $.50 charge for debit more

Never again... 4/27/2005

Delivery takes FOREVER - anyone that claims they recieved prompt delivery must live next door to them because every single time I've ordered it takes almost an hour and I live within a mile and a half of their location. AND the food is NOT good. I have given them the benefit of the doubt several times and the food has been bad every time. The only reason they recieve high marks is due to a good location and the fact they will deliver. Pros: they deliver Cons: they take forever, food isnt good, food isnt good more
