Worst Restaurant Experience Ever!!! 6/28/2011

Me and a friend were promptly booted out of the door during the 2009 Carytown Watermelon Festival because we 'did not order food'!!!! and on one of the HOTTEST days of the year at that!!! The manager was rude, obnoxious, arrogant and dirty-looking. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!! Oh and by the way; we purchased several cool drinks and was going to order food before the manager asked us to leave. DONT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! u may get the boot too!!! more

Really Good Lunch 2/1/2011

Was looking for a place in Carytown to grab lunch with a coworker and decided to try Doube T's. First time, was really impressed. Good service, the beef brisket was really good, better than I have had at other Richmond BBQ joints. Onion Rings were a reall good side item suggested by the server. Portion was a little small, but decent for lunch size. Mr friend got the brisket and sausage, said the sausage wall well prepared and flavorfull. Will return. Overall a great place to grab lunch. more

USED TO BE GREAT BUT 8/8/2010

This place used to be great. Wow has it gone downhill. The flavors are still good save the pork which was minced so fine it had the texture of mush and no flavor at all. The brisket was cut a bit too thin as well. The ribs were chewy, the portions so scimpy as to be insulting. And while the service wasn't bad the tip was tacked on for a table of two. She would have gotten more despite the food but. Had planned on having the bread pudding too but just wanted to leave at that point .Never again. more

GOOD FOOD 9/12/2009

The food is really good. The previous reviews are from way back when and should not be taken into consideration. I had the sampler platter and everything on that plate was awesome. The brisket was cooked to perfection. The pulled pork was really soft and looks like hand-pulled. The portions are filling but not as ""piled-high"" as it was described. The service was excellent. They treat you like a neighbor. The person who waited on us was not annoying and left us to enjoy our food, just looking every once in a while to see if we need something. It is costly for regular students. Also, you can only get one refill, which is a little bit extreme for the price. Pros: food, service Cons: cost, amt of food on plate more

We Make A Special Trip to TT's 2/28/2008

We discovered Double TT's a couple years ago by accident and ever since we go out of our way to go through Richmond to meet up with Double T , his great Q and his wonderful cobbler, not to mention the warm informality of the place. Consider it an experience, not a place to fill up on too much food. more

Mediocre BBQ, ok service, best thing about the place is the location 1/12/2008

The BBQ is only ok, it is nothing to write home about. The same can be said about the side dishes. I ordered the pulled chicken ""Double-T's sized"" and it really didn't look any different from my wife's pulled pork sandwich regular sized. The sauces are ok, but again nothing special. more

strictly okay 8/12/2006

Double T's is good if you are already in Carytown and want to grab a big ol' 32 oz. mug of beer and watch the people trying to make a show at the Byrd theatre. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to get there. Everyone is correct in saying that the sauces are excellent (especially the Tennessee style), but the food is ever-so-slightly subpar and definitely overpriced when compared to the real bbq gems in this city. Pros: people watching outside during the summer months Cons: food is just not that good more

I can't say I was very impressed with their food, service, or attitude. Their ribs are really not that tender.....had a hard time eating them. Furthermore....their management is not very nice....I had some problems getting any sort of apology for the offensive actions of a manager while in the restaurant. Management is also very rude to their employees. I think if there was some sort of barbeque famine...I'd become a vegetarian before I ever went back. By the way...do not take your children there....definitely not a place for kids... Pros: parking Cons: management, food more

Best in Richmond, and convenient 8/18/2005

I really enjoy coming to Double-T's because its one of the few carytown eateries to have its own parking, the ribs are great, and I always walk away full. I like their selection of sauces and I always make sure to use everyone atleast once on my full rack. I only had one bad rack, and they took it back and gave me a good one. Double-T himself is real friendly, probably too much. One customer didn't like it, she was drunk I think, and started yelling and complaining all over the place. Anyway, great for ribs. Sub-Par Ribs 7/17/2005

Coming from Chicago and have experienced bbq from Texas to Tennessee the ribs at Double Ts were sub-par and disappointing. We went back a second time just to see if the first may have been a fluke, but it was not. The ribs were chewy, dry and lacked that smoky flavor you expect. The dry ribs did not have any kind of dry rub on them and were very bland in taste. They had a good variety of sauces from vinegar based to mustard based to your standard bbq sauce and all were very good. Great BBQ 5/30/2004

Great food, classic menu, and a friendly staff as well. The best part is the location - right in the heart of Carytowne across from the theater. The patio also makes a great place to have a drink while you eat as well. Pros: Great food, Good Service, Great atmosphere more

Bad Service 2/3/2003

I figured this place was going to be good, but I was wrong. The food was overpriced and OK, but the service was awful. I can appreciate waiting for home cooked food, but it took us over 10 minutes for anyone to come by the table at all. more

Big beers and lots of food 8/13/2002

The food is good, just not extraordinary. Beers are enormous and you will not leave hungry. The dang sampler platter appetizer is a huge meal by itself. Onion rings may be the best in Richmond. Nice casual atmosphere. Pros: food, price more
