Beautiful rugs; great service 1/27/2010

Everything that these reviews say about Murat is absolutely true -- he's incredibly knowledge and passionate about his rugs and he just couldn't be nicer or easier to deal with. He helped us select two rugs for our new apartment, and they are more beautiful and unusual than we had even hoped. (His associate Nur was also great to deal with -- she helped us when we first visited the store.) Prices are more reasonable than you would expect given the location of the store (Tribeca) and the quality of the service. more

Rug Temptation! 5/10/2009

I've known Murat for several years, and he continues to be an excellent source and inspiration for my home. Extremely knowledgeable about all types of rugs, he has a wide assortment of pieces perfect for a NYC apartment and lifestyle. I enjoy stopping by his TriBeCa shop just to say hello! and see what new treasures are hiding in his stacks. I've purchased several gorgeous rugs from him; the prices are honest, and he gives you incredible value for your money. This should be your first and last stop whenever seeking a wonderful rug for your home. Pros: Excellent selection, professional service, and great prices. more

Don't go anywhere else for rugs and carpets 10/5/2007

When my wife and I were in need of some great rugs for our new apartment we we went through the mounds of rugs at ABC and on lower 5th Avenue and were not able to find anything that we loved, while at the same time feeling like we could not trust that the rugs offered to us were worth the price. Then we stumbled on Murat's shop, a mirror oposite of all the other places. Murat spent hours with us on several occasions teaching us about rugs and carpets (ask him to explain the difference) and personally delivering them to our apartment and trying them out. As other reviewers have mentioned, Murat will help you find the best rug for you, irrespective of price, and unlike other places there is absolutely no pressure to buy. When you do find something you love, I am certain that the price Murat offers is the price one should fairly pay. In addition, his selection is fabulous for such a small space, a testament to his excellent asthetic. This should be your first and last stop--everything else will just disappoint. Pros: Service, selection and price more

Great Service and Selection 5/29/2007

We had a great experience at Double Knot. Murat the owner is incredibly knowledgeable about the selection, extremely friendly and has a truly great selection of rugs. Because we could not decide which rug would be best in our home, Murat let us take several rugs to try out on a number of occasions. We came back several times and he never made us feel pressured into buying anything. He was extremely helpful, evening bringing the rugs to our house. The service was great. Also, his selection ran the gamut of all type of rugs and colors and they are each a piece of artwork. We love the rug that we bought. We had a wonderful experience at Double Knot and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a rug. Pros: Service, Selection more

An Unprecedented Experience 8/30/2006

The first thing that strikes you when working with Murat is his love for the artistry of the rugs in his showroom. Because he has hand-picked each rug, he is extremely knowledgeable about the provenance of each rug, and eager to share the information with you. It is also plainly evident that he is more concerned with matching you with the right carpet, than he is with convincing you to purchase the largest rug on the floor. Pros: Wide Variety. Murat is a genius at packing even the largest rugs into transportable bundles. Cons: Can't think of a single Con. more

The anti-ABC--and consider that the highest possible compliment 7/2/2006

Murat fully won my trust when, after we had looked through dozens and dozens of rugs and I had picked out a couple that I wanted to take home for a test run, he actually suggested to me that I also try one that was significantly less expensive--but in its own way just as beautiful. There's no hard sell, just his honest opinion and an uncanny knack for quickly figuring out his customers' tastes, great value and an approachable warmth. The gallery isn't big, but the selection is wide-ranging enough to suit most people's tastes--and if you want really big, just go to ABC. If anything, this is the anti-ABC--extraordinary personal service (Murat will bring the rugs to your house himself for you to try); unbeatable prices; unassailable quality; and none of the intimidation and attitude that you get at one of the warehouse-sized places. Pros: Outstanding service, excellent prices more

Best selection on beautiful tribal rugs 6/11/2006

These are hands down the most beautiful rugs. Each has been carefully selected by Murat, the owner, who loves what he does. He knows the history, the craft, the culture. Don't even think about going to ABC. These rugs are on another level. Unheard of exchange policy, trial times, and free underpads. This was the best shopping experience I have had in a long time. You may spend more, but you are making a good investment. Seeing is definitely believing. Pros: beautiful space, great selection, friendly knowledgeable service more

We Highly Recommend Double Knot 10/15/2005

Double Knot is a truly unique rug shopping experience! Murat, the owner, was fabulous - his knowledge of rugs is extensive. Prices are very fair, great deals - you don't feel like you are being taken advantage of like we felt at some other rug stores. We liked several rugs, and he personally delivered them to our apartment for us to try. Then he saw our apartment, and understood exactly what we wanted. That night he called his colleagues in other states and found a rug that was perfect for us! He emailed us pictures and had it shipped (at no cost to us) within two days for us to consider (no commitment). Murat delivered a rug pad to us, which was included in the overall price. Murat is a truly refreshing, professional, trustworthly expert that made buying a rug a great experience! Pros: prices, customer service Cons: no modern desgins more

User review by figs134 8/28/2005

I am absolutely amazed at the level of service and expertise Murat, the owner, showed me while making my selection at Double Knot. He spent a wealth of time lifting and explaining various carpets as well as asking questions to help me discover my style preference. Of the several carpet stores I visited that weekend, Double Knot was the first that did not pressure me to buy anything. In fact, since I was having trouble deciding Murat suggested I take them both home to try. Can you believe that! Everyone knows that merchandise looks different at home than in the store so this was an amazing offer! Once I lived with the carpets in my own environment for a few days the choice was clear. Purchasing a carpet from Double Knot was an exciting and educational experience. It is definitely knot the same old rug store! more

Double Everything 6/9/2005

I just bought a beautiful rug from Double Knot. This name is appropriate as I got double customer service, quality and value for my money. Murat (the owner) is exceedingly helpful and did not hesitate to bring every possible rug out to be viewed. I was very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this store to anyone interested in beautiful quality carpets. more
