Very Poor Experience 8/17/2011

I had a really poor experience for a simple Oil change at Don Mcgill . I went to Service Advisor Ma*k . I asked for a quote on Mobile 1 Oil change and he quoted 75 dollars ; I corrected him saying I had Called Don Mcgill Srvc Dept before coming to get a quote and it should be around 58 . He them had me wait till and went on Phone with Svc to check the price . He came back and agreed to do it at usd 58 . After waiting for Over 1 Hour ; I was called at the Cashier and they did not provide me anything for the multipoint inspection that comes with Fuel change . I talked to the Service manager and he said there was nothing to report in the Inspection so they did not provide anything . This was surely wrong as they did NOT even point out that the Treaddept on some of my rear tires was close to zero . When I went out to my vehicle and opened the hood to check for fluid levels ; None of my fluids had been topped off ; the Power steering fluid was clearly low . I had to go back in and report that . They took my car in again and added the Fluids . The attitude of the service Person was as if they did not care . I am not Going back there anymore for sure . more

Rude service . 7/29/2011

I went for an oil change and a recall issue . Mark Hamman was miserable ,rude and grumpy . This is the second time I have dealt with this person . He is obviously in the wrong profession and shouldn't be dealing with the public . He is the first person you see when you walk into the service dept. I went to another service person and had no problem . He was helpful and pleasant . My issues were dealt within a timely manner with no problems . I was told Mark was known for this behavior and has had complaints in the past . Unacceptable ! more

flat tire when at body shop 10/24/2010

went to pick up car at body shop, had a flat on it. wasn't flat when took it in. they supposedly fixed it. right. next morning went out and flat again and horrible patch job, it was like gum stuck on the tire. could have caused an accident . had to call triple a on a sunday and mess with this on a monday morning. they owe me a new tire. more

Don McGill will not get another penny 10/19/2010

Their service department does not recognize the coupons that are on their website. THey advertise 29 minute oil change or free yet when the oil change takes over an hour they say they will not give the oil change for free because I used synthetic oil. Synthetic oil has nothing to do with the time it takes to change oil!!!. They when I question the logic of the synthetic oil the story changes to "we no longer advertise or promote that special". Dont buy or service at Don McGill! There are many other dealerships that will work with you and are happy to have and keep you as a customer. more

Irresponsible! Don McGill 8/28/2010

In short, I identified and persued a certified pre-owned toyota vehicle listed by Don McGill toyota Katy, Tx. I flew across the country to purchase, and drive the vehicle back to California. On inspection, at twilight, and under the fluourescent lights it appeared clean, and in perfect condition. Toyota Certified Vehicles are presented as superior to Used Vehicles, and due to their rigorous 160 pt inspection, I should have every confidence that I do not have to inspect it as carefully. On my way back to California, I notice several details of the cars interior, and exterior that seem to be outside of the Certified standard. Once I returned home I immediately had my local Toyota dealer evaluate the car, only to make some of the same conclusions. On my behalf, they contacted Don McGill Toyota Katy Tx. and were informed that none of the items would be reveiwed, resolved, or repaird by Don Mc Gill Toyota. They also implied that I must have done all of these things while the vehicle was in my possesion. This included at least two items fundamental to the vehicles safety. I was stunned. Ive since uncovered documentation that my vehicle was driven by someone @Don McGill for nearly 2500 mi without re-Certifiying the car for my purchase. Really?? When the service light came on, they responded by suggesting that it was simply not reset. Unfortunately, the paper trail & the sticker on the window (Don McGill) suggest they are liars. Willing to put my new Toyota purchase at risk just to cover thier asses. I see now how many negative reviews there are of Don McGill. If I had known sooner I would have stayed away. STAAY AWAY!!! Theres a reason why they are not approved by the Houston Tx. Better Business Bureau!!!! Here in California, we call what theyre doing FRAUD, and we have already called the states attourneys offices in California & Texas, as well as initiating an ivestigation by our insurance company, and bank holding the note. Stay Away From Don McGill!!!! Look how many complaints!!! Embarrassing for Toyota! more

Customer Service Starts at the top 8/28/2009

What strikes me about the majority of these reviews is that they reflect a culture that does not seems to customer service that is a win-win, but rather an attitude that is we win and you loose. Hind sight in our case, but from the sales manager on down they were interested in Don McGill Toyota winning and screw you. This attitude is in the different reviews but we just did not see it. The short of it, is that we went to buy a Prius under Cash for Clunkers but they wanted us to sign a form accepting all liability if they did not get their money ... we would sign if the form said they did not get their funds because of something we did but would not give them a blank check where we agreed to pay them even if they did not file the paperwork! They said they would not sell us the car if we did not sign the form ... someone else would buy it the next day and they would not even read the form nor know what they were agreeing to! Why do business with a company that has this attitude - you will own a car for a long time and at some point you will want an honest dealership that is looking for a win-win with their customers. Based on what I am reading in the reviews and our own experience, I suggest you go someplace else ... the good thing about being in the Houston area is that we do have a lot of choices. Poor service at Don McGill 12/26/2008

I purchased a Prius from Don McGill Toyota in 2005 and tried to have my automobile regularly serviced at the dealer. The work was shoddy, often it looked as if nothing had been actually done. I purchased a warranty for the tires when I purchased the car. At the time of inspection for the car, the tread was very worn, they would not honor the warranty, saying there was 1/8th of tread left on the back passenger tires. When I took it to two other service stations they warned me that I should not be driving the car and I then purchased new tires from Sams Club, then had the alignment done at Auto Check 1 at Briar Forest and Eldridge with excellent service. I never go to Don McGill now, but I am searching for a service shop that can check the engine, since the engine light has come on - any recommendations for a auto mechanic shop where they work on Prius'? Thanks. more

Coupoun Bate & Switch 11/26/2008

I printed out a coupoun for 15% off any service on ladies day which is wed. I talked to the sales person for service and asked him to quote me a price on putting pads on back brakes he told me 169.95, i then presented him with the coupoun and he said i would have to present that at billing. I presented the coupon to the girl and she told me the price for the brakes included the wed. special. yeah right i will never do business with them again. more

Poor service at Don McGill Toyota 9/25/2007

I just bought a 2008 Prius from Don McGill (dealt with Gerry McGill). After 500 mi, I took it back because it pulled left. I used to build and race cars, so I know a thing or three about how to set them up. I asked to sit in the car while the mech was aligning it, but they never called me. So, I went out to see how the car was going, and the mech had it done, with green in all six readings. I asked the mech if I could it in it, and he said, "Ok". The readings all turned red, as I knew they would. (I weigh 200). He re-did the alignment, with 3 readings now in the green, one in the yellow and 2 in the red. That was good enough for him. The service manager and Gerry McGill had no problem with shoddy work, so I left. Their attitude seemed to be: Problem? There's no problem - your check cleared. more

Quick Service at Don McGill 8/9/2005

I always take my Tundra to Don McGill to have it serviced. Oil changes are done in 29 minutes guaranteed!! While you are waiting for them to do your service, you can wait in the customer lounge. There is complimentary coffee, including a machine that makes lattes, mochas, and hot chocolate! Yumm! The technicians always do a good job and make sure they don't get any oil on your carpet or steering wheel. more
