I've been driving past Don Camaron for years, yet this is my first time eating there. I always had the impression that this was a bar, and probably served food as an afterthought. Finally, however, I gave it a chance, and it was an unexpected and pleasant surprise!\r
Don Camaron has a wonderful mix of Peruvian, Colombian, and Caribbean food, with an obvious focus on seafood. The interior reminds me of Loggerhead, but brighter and cleaner... it's a mix of nautical flotsam and jetsam. The wait staff was attentive and efficient, although communicating in English was a bit labored.\r
I had the Peruvian seafood fried rice, which was a very nice mix of calamari, scallops, shrimp, fish, clams, and crawfish, over an authentically prepared soft, large-grain rice tossed with bean sprouts and vegetables. The dish provided me with leftovers for lunch the next day.\r
One refreshing difference: Don Camaron isn't just another seafood place that fries everything!\r
I will definitely return to Don Camaron to further sample their diverse menu. The dishes being delivered to other diner's tables looked delicious.
