The food was good in past years we could not wait to go there last night and unfurtunatly we were not able to get there until 9:10 pm. we order the the Arroz con Pollo and the server which we didnt know was the OWNER refused to cook it for US at that time in matter of fact he was pissed off that we order a plate that take 45 minutes to cook (by the way the way the restaurant supposely does not close until 10:00pm ) anyway , very nasty he said that plate takes one hour to cook were not cooking at this time this meal , WOW !! "ok no problem we said , we knew we got there at 9:10 pm so we didn't want to annoye him but not only what we order there wasn't all that but we felt rushed out the whole time to get out there "SAD" (with this economy you would think people specially owners would be more willing to serve there customers better but NOT JUSTIN he claimed he was the owner what a dissapointment that he was, we thought he was just an employee trying to rush out of working on Saturday night (SAD, the way he treated us) unfortunatly we left a cell phone on the chair next to us and cause we thought there was decent honest people working there and we were the last customers to leave we thought no problem the phone is cracked anyway were 200% sure we left it on that chair who's going to steal it? right? , well for our surprise when we spoke to Justin (the owner ) he got really defensive , refused to help out at the moment and try to even help out or give the benefit of the doubt that one of his employees stole our cell phone and hung up on us claiming he was not going argue with us . That's ok . we will never go there again and we would advice you NOT to either cause the whole experience from getting there and ordering the arroz pollo , following the sangria that you look foward to at least that being good (was not) to loosing our cell phone and the way JUSTIN (THE OWNER) handle the whole experience was just NOT right . more

Out of the way restaurant with 1970's Cuban glam! The ropa vieja was a tad bit on the salty side but the sweet plantains definitely made up for it! Would return to sample other things. more

Great atmosphere, the dark candlelight romantic type. Very clean and some of the best service I've had in a while. The food was absolutely delicious and definitely authentic Cuban cuisine. I will be returning again and again, what a quality place for a low price! more

As soon as I walked into the restaurant I got a very cozy feeling. It was quaint and romantic! Our waiter was really nice and always checking up on us as well. :) I got the Chicken Filet which came with white rice, black beans, and plantains. All of which was delicious! more

This was everything we read and more. The food and service were amazing! The pork and fajita steak, the plantains, the Cuban coffee, the sangria, all superior! more

It was good. I loved the chicharron pollo. I must say that the portions are not that big for the price. Very good flavors. more

Yes, some people mentioned the place is dark and dated, but so are others (like Flannigan's) but the food is real food, very well seasoned, the meat always tender. They make you feel like you are a long time customer the first time you walk-in. Service??? Over the top, always attentive, not so soon not too late. The only negative is that they don't have artificial sugar, other than the pink package. Well on this one, I have to say they could control it just bringing to the table the quantity the customer ask for. I do three packages, and won't be able to take six if when I order the coffee they bring just 3!!! Ponte las pilas !!! more

We were visiting Fort Lauderdale and wanted some Cuban food. Due to the reviews on Urbanspoon, decided to try Don Arturo.\r \r The restaurant seemed to be filled with regulars, which is a good sign. \r \r The service was AMAZING. Everyone was so attentive and the main waiter was so friendly.\r \r Food was so tasty as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and were glad we only had a small breakfast as there was a lot of food!!!\r \r I'd definitely go back there again next time I'm in FL. more

I go out of my way for good Cuban food and this place is well worth a visit.\r \r Although I am not a big fan of pork I ordered the roasted pork, plantains, black beans and rice. It was excellent and perfected spiced. To finish off the meal I ordered tres leche and Cuban (sweet) espresso. Both were top notch.\r \r I will come back. The service is very attentive and you won't walk away hungry!! more

Visiting from out of state, hoping to find a good Cuban restaurant, we located don arturo online. Outside decor was very inviting, as was the staff when we entered. Jovial server made us feel like we were locals & the meal was top notch! Pork dishes were perfect! We will visit again when we return to this area! more

We stopped in at Don Arturo for lunch on our way to the airport. There was one problem....I wanted to stay for dinner. The food and service is excellent at a reasonable price. We ordered off the Lunch Menu and had the roasted pork, the Vaca Frita and the Palomilla steak. All were excellent. The food was flavorful and cooked right. Everything was served with wonderfully cooked plantains along with rice & black beans. Great pride in the staff. We will be back and we will tell our friends. more

Great Food. Without question the most authentic Cuban food outside of Cuba. Forget Pollo Tropical, Don Arturos food blows all the competition away. Justin, the owner, is a great guy and will make your evening there a blast. Ultimately, you will befriend Justin and he will recognize you right when you walk back in the door to have another great meal. more

Don Arturo is my absolute favorite restaurant in the Ft. Lauderdale area. We are sure to go there at least once during each visit from New Mexico. I discovered this gem years ago with my son, and it is among his favorites, too. \r \r You must try the marinated and herbed pork steak. Pounded thin and expertly seasoned, cooked perfectly, it melts in your mouth at the same time that the flavors explode on your palate. Served with Moros y Cristianos and delicious fried plantains, it is also the favorote dish of my son and many of his friends. \r \r Each time I walk in the door, Justin, the owner, asks me if I want the pork, and the usual answer is yes, but once I asked him for something off-menu -- fish with a tomato-peppers-onion-olive sauce. He had the chef put together a superb dish that I still dream about. I guess I'll have to alternate this with the pork as I return. \r \r Last March, Jane and I had Justin arrange a wedding rehearsal dinner for my son Dan and his lovely bride, Debi. There were 50 guests from all over the country, and Justin outdid himself. Pork and chicken were the stars. The guests were all wowed. Fantastic party. \r \r Great food, great service, and great fun. Go there. Eat. Tell Justin that Dan and his dad sent you. You, too, will befriend Justin. more

Luis Criado Mochon e Ileana Chaviano have visited Don Arturo and found the place excellent. The sea food is fresh and tasty and the prices are reasonable. We will recommend Don Arturo to all our friends more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 10/29/2010

Do not judge this place on appearance alone. The lechon is amazing, service is very friendly and fast, and the prices are more than fair. I would come back in a heartbeat! more
