The Scene
Perfect for beginners of any age, this accessible mountain in the shadow of Baldy isn't only bunny slopes; there are enough intermediate runs to keep more experienced skiers entertained. Modest facilities include a small cafeteria and an outdoor seating area with picnic tables and heaters. A large ski school is usually packed with children, but older beginners are welcome.
The Details
Three main lifts--usually line-free--tote skiers to 10 tree-free runs, ranging from greens on the far sides of the mountain to three fun blue runs. While labeled a green, New Bowl is very narrow--a great run to practice tight turns. At 6,638 feet in altitude, Dollar offers 628 feet of rise. For beginners or rusty intermediate skiers, a warm up on Dollar is the only way to go before tackling Baldy's 3,400 vertical feet.
