Terrific Day Care & Boarding 8/9/2010

As a professional dog trainer, I chose to take my dog to Dog Abby. There is a low turnover on staff, so they really get to knows dog's quirks. My dog is very high energy and their reports back about his behavior are honest & appreciated. The facility is the cleanest I've seen and I recommend Dog Abby to many of my clients. more

Not good for high energy dogs 2/21/2010

Our dog boarded here a few times, but for our last vacation we boarded him for a week and he was not doing well when we picked him up. For the next two days he was vomiting and would not eat. He was also cut and bleeding from what looked like bites from other dogs. The Dog Abby people had claimed that our dog was being aggressive with other dogs, but I am not clear as to how this is possible (and the owner did not bother to discuss it either when we picked our dog up). Our dog goes to the dog park to play almost every day and has a play group with his dog walker on the other days. We have never seen him express any aggression. Our dog is still a puppy however and can be very high energy. I have met a number of dogs in the neighborhood, who are well socialized, that have been banned from this place. The people at Dog Abby it seems are unwilling to work with dogs that have a lot of energy. Finally, their customer service needs a lot of work. They refuse to call you back or answer their phones and insist on doing everything via email. The people at the front desk however are very nice, and the facility is clean. But I would NEVER bring my dog here again. Pros: Clean Cons: Injure Dogs more

Dont Reccommend.... 9/30/2009

I was going out of town and needed a place to bring my dog. I researched online and found out about Dog Abby. The reviews were pretty good and so I went to check out the place. I decided that I would board my dog here for 3 days. They claim that someone is their 24/7. They are not. They keep them in cages all night- from 10PM unil about 7 or 8 AM. They also do not let the dogs go outside to urinate during this time. So basically they are stuck in a cage for about 9 hours and they are forced to hold themselves until the morning. Cons: Horrible!!!! (Please continue reading...) more

Wonderful facility 6/12/2009

I love Dog Abby. We took our 8 month old puppy there to board for 7 nights. She'd never been away from home before and they took wonderful care of her. They let us know about her nervous stomach situation and they cooked rice for her each night! During the day she had a fabulous time running around their large outdoor space, climbing and splashing in the kiddie pools. She is a very energetic, playful dog who loves to run non-stop for hours. They noticed that she had developed blisters on her front paws from all-day running, so they kept her inside on the soft rubber floors for a few hours each day, but always made sure she had a good buddy to play with. I can't stress enough how caring and knowledgeable Deb and the staff are. Pros: Knowledgeable, caring, large outdoor space more

For a Happy , Safe, and Fun stay, go to DOG ABBY Daycare 9/5/2008

We can't recommend Dog Abby highly enough! We've boarded our boys there a few times and have never had any problems. We had carefully checked out 7 other boarding facilities throughout Brooklyn, and hands down Dog Abby stood head and shoulders above every single place we visited in the following areas - CLEAN.....NO SMELLS.....SOFT RUBBER FLOORS.....Seperate areas for large and small dogs....Fabulous staff....Great outdoor enclosed play area.....Happy environment....LOVING AND CARING OWNERS who are super professional and instantly won our confidence after our initial interview and touring the location. Our guys always make some new friends when they stay, and we've never felt the least bit nervous leaving our precious pups in their able hands. Try them out and you'll never take your dogs anywhere else again Pros: Clean Soft Floors,Odorless , Outdoor Play Area, On Site 24/7, They Love dogs more

My dog is crazy over Dog Abby 11/2/2007

I was referred to Dog Abby after having terrible experiences at another daycare in Park Slope. When I went to check out the facility, I was in love. I love that there is the option to play outside, instead of just running back and forth in a room. The owners have built a studio, so someone is there all night and they check to make sure every dog that enters Dog Abby has a great temperment. Also, there are playsets for the dogs to climb and run all over, and kiddie pools in the summer to cool off in. My dog is a very sweet dog, but definitely likes to play. At other facilities, he would come home with abrasions and would be put in time out for no reason. However, when he comes home from Dog Abby, he is abrasion-free and exhausted from playing all day. I recently had a family emergency, called to see if they could house him for a couple of days. They said of course, and my mind was at ease knowing he was there. I didn't worry once, which was so comforting in an upsetting time. Deb and Britta really care about the dogs, as well as their staff. Thank you, ladies, for treating Deacon like your own. Pros: Great space, staff cares about dogs, my dog loves it! Cons: Wish it was within walking distance, but worth driving to. more

A Home Away From Home 2/18/2006

Dog Abby's new location at 90 Verona St. is are really great facility. The enclosed outdoor area provides supervision in a safe and friendly environment. The care and concern shown by Deb, Britta and the entire staff is truly extraordinary. My 9 month old Portuguese Water Dog, Izzy just loves going to the Dog Abby. The Dog Abby is a clean, well-maintained and professionally run establishment. Someone is there 24/7. I could not recommend the Dog Abby high enough, it's just like a home away from home, so says Izzy. Pros: Caring, Clean, Safe Cons: None, None, None more
