At the Home Show they promised a free no obligation estimate. First guy came 30 minutes late. Then refused to give estimate because I wasn't willing to commit to one of the option...

Windows failed. made numerous calls and sent several letters and finally got someone to come out. Agreed it was a bad window and I had a legit warranty. Never heard anything back and started calling and sending letter again - all unanswered. Stay away stay far away from them. Inferior products with no service support. You would get more satisfaction burning your money in your fireplace than spending it with them!!\r more

At the Home Show they promised a free no obligation estimate. First guy came 30 minutes late. Then refused to give estimate because I wasn't willing to commit to one of the options he gave me and because I wasn't willing to say when I would buy. Finally he wrote 3 numbers on back of a piece of paper. I asked him to leave. He basically said he was trying to make a sales. Obviously it was not worth his time if I wasn't willing to commit. I thought I’d be nice and call them to complain. I called marketing and the owner to complain. They kept me on phone an inordinate amount of time having me repeat the same complaints over and over. I told the Marketing guy I didn’t want to do business with him. The owner called and I succumbed. I agreed to have someone else do the estimate without obligation. They promised me that I would NOT get a salesman the second time. Due to a scheduling problem, I ended up with a salesman. This guy was at least more knowledgeable. I told him not to bother to give me the “today” price because I wasn’t going to do anything that day. The visit was supposed to be 90 minutes. And we were not supposed to be starting from scratch since I had passed on info about the first visit to multiple people. But two and a half hours later, after his sales gyrations, he was wondering why I wasn’t willing to do a credit application and move forward. They’ve continued to call me. They never have their facts straight about what transpired before. After a couple of “follow up calls”, I told them that I did not want Dixie Home crafter to call me again. The same guy who I had told not to call me, called me again. I reminded him that I had requested that I receive no further calls from Dixie Home crafter. Still today, I get yet another call. This person was really clueless. Had no idea what I had gotten the estimate on. When I told him “I asked you not to call me again”, his reply was “I have never called you again”. Then he continued his sales pitch. Again I told him not to call me. And that he needed to arrange for Dixie to never call me again. I had to hang up since he didn’t seem to understand that I did not want to talk to him/ This is HARASSMENT! more

Don't invite them to your home 4/14/2009

We made the mistake of inviting Dixie Homecrafters to our house for giving us estimates on windows. The presentation was supposed to last 90 minutes. Three hours later we still had not gotten any estimates or seen any of their window products. They tried to push their diamond barrier insulation on us instead. Their initial quote was about $6,000. Eventually the number came down to about $4,000 if we signed the contract that day. We refused and asked them to leave. \r \r Today I looked online for whole sale prices for diamond barrier and similar products. The price is about $200 for 1000 sq ft. Dixie's salespeople told me that installation takes about half a day. Therefore I am guessing that their labor cost is about $200 for the job. That makes their total direct cost about $400. Basically, they have the stomach to hike the price up about 1,000% !!! What a deal! These types of companies will eventually go out of business. We who understand how these high pressure sales work and are smart enough not to fall for it have a moral responsibility to keep sleezy companies like Dixie Homecrafters away from those who are more easily duped. Please keep on spreading the word and send Dixie to the trash pile where they belong. Pros: May learn something Cons: Mostly waste of your time more

Old Fashioned High Pressure Sales 10/9/2008

I contacted them for a quote for their Gutterguard product. They use all of the old tricks in the book, trying to drag the whole thing out as long as possible. After measuring my house, the guy sat in his car on the cell phone for 30 minutes drinking a Coke while supposedly writing a proposal. We were given a list of references we were supposed to call during this time. His ""5 minute"" presentation with the qoute dragged on for 45 minutes. Overall, the entire painful process lasted almost 2 hours. The quote we were given was ridiculous ($6,000 for gutters for a modest house). Of course, if we made up our mind right then he told us he would cut us a deal. He gave us a monthly payment, but was not able to give any terms. The suggestion was to place an order, and talk to the finance company the next day. When I asked him how long we would be paying $116 per month, he said ""until it is paid off"". For all I knew I would have been agreeing to pay this for 30 years. When we told him we would not be buying, he got very upset and claimed that it was because we did not like him personally. What a weirdo. Then he said that he had to call his boss for the next appointment, and he proceeded to sit an additional 10 minutes in my kitchen supposedly on hold with the phone to his ear. I had to make him leave my house. When he left, he would not leave a brochure or the list of supposed references. Do not use this company. Do not get a ""free quote from them"". The sad thing is that there are proably nice old people and unsophisticated people who get pressured in to them. Do not use them. Do not use them. Do not use them. I hope I made my point clear.... Strange company 2/21/2008

I needed a new roof and gutters so I called a bunch of places for estimates. This place refused to give a quote to anyone but me (the homeowner) while every other place I called had no problem leaving the quote with someone at the home. Also, they insisted I be there to attend the hour and a half ""presentation"". They were very argumentative and finally I just said ""if you can't just give me a simple quote this is not the right company for me"". I don't understand why anyone would use these people. They don't have some kind of miracle gutters that I need to have presented to me for an hour and a half. Pros: Will call and harass you. Cons: Scam. more

Badgering Telemarketers 8/17/2007

Dixie Homecrafters installed GutterGuardians on my entire home, after I initiated the process by calling to have someone come give an estimate. I have no problem with the gutters or the original service we received. Since then, however, I have been completely turned-off to the company due to their overbearingly annoying telemarketers. I don't mind a telemarketer calling; I am always polite even when annoyed at a call. However, I received a call from Dixie Homecrafters during which the telemarketer was very badgering, and would not end the call. I don't hang-up on people, so he continued to badger me for approximately 10-15 minutes, despite my repeated efforts to end the calI by stating that I would not set up an appointment (for a free estimate) during the phone call. Eventually the telemarketer raised his voice at me and ended up hanging up on me. At least I still can say that I still have never hung-up on a telemarketer, or been impolite on the telephone. Too bad Dixie Homecrafters can't say the same of their marketing techniques. Pros: GutterGuardians solved our leaky gutter problem Cons: Handling telemarketers afterwards more
