Fabulous Hair Experience 12/24/2008

I've lived in San Francisco all my life and tried many different salons and have been unimpressed. I walked in off the street and got an appointment right away wih one of the directors. I have never been so happy with my hair color and cut. I am now a regular and so is my boyfriend. Pros: caters to a professionals schedule Cons: offers wine more

best hilite and cut ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/30/2008

I have been a client of Diva International for a few years now, and have experienced almost all of the stylists for both colours and cuts and have yet to be dissapointed! The best part about Diva is that everytime I go in for a cut or colour I get my make up touched up (fixed!) Pros: very close to Bart, muni and my work Cons: undervalued more

Horrible Management 8/4/2008

Adam is an awesome make-up artist. He's the best I've ever seen. Bradley Drapkowski is also the best hairstylist. He has done my hair for years and knows how to style all hair types. I am a black woman and was displeased one day when the ""manager"" who happens to be Diva's husband refused to give me service because a receptionist placed my appointment on the wrong day and disrupted their ""system."" The manager acted as though it was my fault that the mistake was made. The manager then expected me to have any stylist do my hair. I explained that not everyone could do my hair and he responded that Diva is from Greece and could do my hair. I told him that Bradley had been doing my hair for years and that I had tried other stylists in the salon and left disappointed. I said that I pay too much to look horrible when I leave the salon. The manager then stated that I should go to another salon. (Mind you, this was around the holidays too). The ""manager"" was extremely brash and down right rude. He had the worst customer service skills known to man. He even lied about his name and position after I told him what time it was. What a coward. Bradley, I love you but please change salons. Pros: Good Stylist Cons: Horrible Management more

I should try going to the dog salon instead... 6/13/2008

Terrible color work, for $200 I could have gotten it done right but I was in a hurry for somewhere close to my job. Boy am I sorry,, they tried to re-do & it was still wrong. more

Excellent Brows! 5/18/2007

Adam, who handles the brows and make-up is wonderful. I am very picky about my eyebrows and he the best stylist I've been to. He is also great with make-up. I would highly recommend the salon and Adam in particular. more

Too much attitude, too little service 5/11/2007

I wouldn't recommend them, they're just average. If only their service would match their attitude! I've started going there because the location is convenient, the price is okay and you can always get an appointment - however, not with the stylist you want. They schedule your appointment with whoever is available within your budget. The only exception is Diva herself, you can always ask for her, but she charges much more. I'm used to more sophisticated salons in Europe, and I'm always frustrated with the haircut I get at Diva. No matter how detailed I explain to them my hair, they never get it quite right. Fortunately, I have long hair and can pin it back or somehow cover up what doesn't work. They just snip away at the ends, but around the face, where it gets really important, they hardly touch my hair. Instead they spend most of the time on styling. You walk out like a diva, but once you wash and style your hair yourself - same disappointment! I just know that a good haircut doesn't need any styling or not a lot. But they keep telling me that I must use their expensive products and how to straighten my curly hair out, when a good stylist should be able to make the best of every type of hair! However, I've been happy with the coloring. The highlights always come out great and natural. If only they would learn to listen to their customers' needs. Pros: Color & highlights, ok price, convenient location, Cons: Average haircuts, sometimes snobby service, can't choose your stylist more

What you have to love about Diva International is that you walk into a buzzing atmosphere of talent and into the hands of style-gurus that uphold a glowing level of professionalism. Diva International warms you to lavish in your salon experience. Cutting edge stylist will do your do right. Want super-chic color? Their colorist become artists with an eye for innovation and class. Best of all, Diva, the owner is always around - with a smile for you! more

Best SF Salon 6/7/2006

Once you enter Diva International, you know you're in good hands. The place is vibrant, clean and energetic. The staff makes sure to acknowledge you whether they are your stylist or not. I've gotten my hair done several times here, each with a new stylist (they have a no-request policy) and each time they've done a terrific job. Recently moved here from Los Angeles and I'm pleased to say I can get top-notch service without the pretentious attitude. Highy reccomended. Pros: Experience, Attitude, Atmosphere more

A big disappointment! 2/13/2006

The salon looks clean and trendy and is near where I work so I went in for a cut. I wasn't that happy with the cut but wanted to give them another chance so I went back. They did my color and the first time was fine but the touch-ups were the problem, and this was while using their expensive salon products which they practically force you to buy. The final time I went, my hair was literally breaking off my head. Overall, the staff seems young and rather inexperienced which is fine for a school but not a professional salon that advertises its self as hair color experts! Pros: Cute decor, good tea Cons: Bad service, bad attitude, pushy sales people more

Do not go to this salon 1/23/2006

I went to this salon this weekend and was told that they would not complete my service because they didnt book enough time for my cut AND color. I couldnt believe the nerve of a so-called ""service"" salon. Not only did they cancel my cut altogether, which I booked 2 weeks in advance, they didnt offer me a reduced price or free cut or anything!! The owner himself didn't even seem apologetic when I said I felt this was horrible service. If for any other reason than just to dissuade this behavior in the future, DO NOT GO TO THIS HORRIBLE SALON Cons: Cancelled My Service, Rude Staff more

Average Salon 8/25/2005

The haircut I received at Diva was average. The stylist was friendly and the service good. The other pluses are that this salon is located near where I work (downtown) and it was easy to get an appointment. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone because there are a lot of other salons that will give you a better haircut for about the same price. The ""rave"" reviews that are posted here seem like they were written by the employees. After reading them, I won't be going back, even though I had been considering it. Pros: friendly, convenient, easy to get an appt Cons: value more

From a guy's perspective.... 8/21/2005

After reading about Diva in magazines, and listening to my girlfriend rave about this salon, I finally agreed to go. It far exceeded every expectation I could imagine. I loved my haircut, and the numerous compliments I received from people really reconfirmed that I had a cut above the rest. To me, the thing that keeps me going back is the service. Its simply amazing how good everyone treats me when I walk in the front door. The stylists are all qualified and are all so up-to-date on the trends. They have a unique system of scheduling, which is perfect for anyone who wants to get in without waiting a month! So funny to look at pictures of me from before I started getting my hair cut at Diva! Pros: Great Service, Short wait time, Amazing Hair cuts! more

A more expensive Supercuts 8/17/2005

This salon is right downstairs from my work, so I found it convenient to pop down during lunch for a cut. I'm used to going to salons in NYC that are a bit more sophisticated with less wanna be camp (The name Diva couldn't be more contrived). However, at $50 with a convenient location I continued to go. This was until they tried to force me to see another stylist and was RUDE about it. My co-worker and I discussed how odd their system is and how pushy and somewhat deviant they are about it. We have both changed to salons that we know we will have consistent and reliable service. If your used to Supercuts type service, this is the place for you. If you're looking for an atmosphere that's more sophisticated this is not the place for you. And, by the way, most salons provide free beverages. Pros: convenient location, walkin service Cons: Rude desk staff, forced to chg stylist more

redefines the word ""DIVA"". . . 4/10/2005

same experience as the person in the second review. schedule me with 1 stylist and was intentionally given another. I politely complained . . . woman from the front desk aggressively got in my face. Verbatim quote: ""You don't have the right to choose which stylist you see. It's in the fine print on our website. You asked for X, I said 'Yes, we can see you this afternoon', but didn't say it would be with her."" I brought up that that she was thus intentionally misleading and she then got fairly offensive Wow, never had a conflict like that anywhere. She informed me thaoesn't I could either accept the policy or leave the premises. Bad day for them? Maybe, but no excuse. Still amazed, slighly amused now because it was so weird, but still amazed. .. Pros: convenient location Cons: terrible service, terrible front desk, odd policies more

Exceptional Experience 3/17/2005

I have been going to Diva International for the last year. What won my patronage was the professionalism and convience of all it's staff. Diva who i was told was an international artist with a lot of fashion expertise in hair trends. When i am in town they take care of me at any desrible time. I would highly recommend the salon and it's flair for customer service. Pros: Enviroment, Restaurant Alley, Service Cons: over excell more

Good stylists, terrible front desk. 1/19/2005

Some good stylists, but odd policy that you can't choose who you see. What's worse is that after you see someone a few times they intentionally schedule you with someone else. The first time this happened to me, I thought there was a mixup. The second time, I was very explicit about who i wanted my appointment with and made sure there was no mistake. They confirmed this and then gave me someone else. I will say all the stylists were good, including my two haircuts with the non-scheduled stylist. But this is an intentionally misleading business practice. I don't know why they do it except to just get you in the door when they don't have availability with someone. Regardless, it's misleading and despite the good haircuts, I can't support those business practices and have stopped going there. Pros: Good stylists Cons: , Odd front desk policy more

Best Salon in San Francisco. 5/13/2003

Very Professional. I highly recommend this salon. Easily the best salon in SF. more

Pure Bliss! 1/23/2003

The previous review is such a load of crap. I've been to Diva International on more than one occasion and have received not only top notch service, but excellent excellent tasting tea to go along with it! And free mind you! Once, I had a hair emergency... a ""blonde"" emergency I should say, and the owner was prompt and immediately concerned and helpful. Most of all, they've got a killer look and style and that's important because if I want to look and feel like a ""Diva"", then i'd better have a ""Diva"" cutting my hair... and I only have glowing words for their professional team. Check them out if you're near the pier! Pros: patient, skilled, beautiful image! Cons: wish it were bigger! more
