We just had another restaurant in the area open and have several scattered around the ‘burbs. I’m not surprised – we love char pits and plates, might as well love BBQ’s. Dinosaur in Rochester is located in an old train station and the funky atmosphere just fits. You can’t really have a BBQ joint in a strip mall! Another thing I just adore about Dinosaur, they don’t sing happy birthday. My kind of place to visit indeed! I started with a Rohrbach Scotch Ale ($4.50) and my dining partner ordered up a CB Cream Porter ($4.50). Both were excellent tasting and had us primed and ready for dinner. You’ll notice the service is abrupt, but I am okay with that. I don’t need a server to be my new best friend, I just look for accuracy. We decided since we both wanted ribs to order the Sweetheart Special. This includes a full rack of ribs and your choice of sides for $22.95. There is a list of 16 sides to choose from. We decided on fries, coleslaw, BBQ beans, and tomato cucumber salad. The meat was hot and saucy and for the most part the sides were tasty. The fries tasted old, but dipped in beans they were edible. Presentation was nil, but it WAS a plate of ribs. The sides are plopped into cardboard containers and you are given a few empties for your mess. Visiting Dinosaur is one of those things you just do here. Decent food, fun atmosphere and a long wait if you come at the wrong time. They also have live bands on a regular basis to check out. We've lived here for a few years and finally got around to trying Dinosaur. Yum!! We loved it and have been back a few times for more. The sauce is SO good. It is always packed when we have gone by, so we just ordered it to go, called it in and picked it up. It was ready when we got there, no waiting at all more

My college roommate lived in Rochester and she ranted and raved about this place to me for years. When I visited her in Rochester recently we made out way here. I have to say this is some amazing bbq. All the items we had were so good. The sauce, in my opinion, really made the meal perfect. more

This is a biker establishment but that is not a bad thing because it has turned into place for everyone to frequent. This place has some of the best bbq in the northeast. The place gets extremely busy for a reason. The meat here is so perfectly prepared, the sides are all tasty while the bbq sauce is award winning. Perfection. more

The dinosaur BBQ is the best BBQ restaurant I have been to. The food is amazing and it is not that expensive. This place is always packed, whether it is lunch or dinner, so plan on waiting for a table. The atmosphere is fun, and laid back. It have a great view of the river. Everyone that visits Rochester need to go here! more

This is the only place to go for BBQ in the Rochester area. You do need to get their early or be prepared to wait. And it is worth the wait! My favorite is the pulled pork. They make their own sauce and cook the pork just perfectly. Be warned, if you are looking for a nice quiet sit down dinner, this is not the place. But if your looking for great food and fun atmosphere you'll love it! It's also the perfect place to take out of town visitors to show them what "real" BBQ is! more

The only problem you'll have with this restaurant is getting there early so you can get a table for lunch. The cooker is out in the parking lot, warming up your senses before you even walk in. The food is out of this world. Slow cooked bar-b-que and all the fixin's. Great for parties. Casual atmosphere, business during lunch. They also have burgers and chicken on the menu, so no worry if you don't like ribs. But you will be in the minority! They also have take out available, it you don't have time to sit and enjoy in house. Service is great, prompt. A very, very popular restaurant and for good reason. more

This place is amazing, probably my most favorite BBQ place to eat. The wings by far are the best in Rochester. You can pick up the wing and it just falls apart in your mouth. When I go there I get the "Big Ass Pork Plate." The only problem with this place is it is always packed and if you do not get there early enough you will be waiting for hours. Also there are a few bike nights there so there are tons and tons of bikers which really does not excite me. Other than that amazing food at a great price more

Dinosaurs is a great place to go for some of the best bbq in New York. The food is just great. They have their own bbq sauce which is excellent. The pulled pork is the best I have had. The atmosphere is unique as well. They refer to themselves as a honky tonk rib joint. It is truely a unique experience. Be prepared for a wait though because they are always busy. It is well worth the wait and you cant beat the prices. more

This is the perfect place to get a great Barbecue in Rochester. The food is great, especially the pulled pork. Parking isn't real good, and it gets pretty packed in there sometimes. They are very good with catering too, you can have them come and run a buffet or just get a bunch of food and do it yourself. If you can't make it there, at least pick up a bottle of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que sauce from a supermarket, it's pretty good too. more

If you are craving some good 'ol Bar-b-qued chicken or pork, with some homemade sides, this is your stop. The food is excellent, no matter what you get, and the variety is top notch too for that picky eater. The restaurant is often very crowded, so its best not to go when you are absolutely starving, because you're gonna have a wait. The restaurant is located downtown, so parking might be a problem. If you don't mind a little bit of a walk, then you'll be fine. They also cater... so in case you are throwing a big party, they can bring the food to you! more

You can always have a good time here. The entertainment value for the price is very good. Parking is hard to come by but the people are great. Highly recommended for all looking for a good time at a good price. Weekends are better but weekdays are great as well. Fun for everyone. more

Okay..it is a "biker bar" but you see a lot of families and the food is outstanding. It is some of the best barbeque and all of the sides are terrific. I can never decide what to have - good thing they have a chicken and ribs combo! They also have some amazing Sweet Potato pie. It's a really fun place to go - decorated like a biker bar - and you always see lots of Harley's parked outside, but it's a fun place for parents and kids too. more
