Devcon Security Services: WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO PROTECT YOUR HOME!
We decided to go with Devcon after they told us they were backed by the better business bureau and that they said they would protect our home. Well THEY DID NOT. We had them install their system in our 1100 foot home with 2 glass break sensors, window close sensors and a motion sensor. After leaving our home with peace of mind knowing that our system was armed and set to protect us from any intruders we returned. Our alarm doing it's usual beep when we opened the door to let us know it was still armed and we needed to enter the code within 45 sec. I knew as soon as I saw the cat's frightened face that something had gone terribly wrong. We came home to a broken window in our bedroom and a ransacked house with stolen items. Devcon assured us our alarm would go off, call the police and call us in the case of a break-in. NONE OF THIS HAPPENED! We called them for answers and were told yes the system was armed and that they had no notice of an intrusion. They sent out a technician to check our system and he told us that the glass sensors were installed in the wrong place, THEY INSTALLED THEM! They had a technician and a salesman here for installation and neither noticed that they were putting the glass break sensors in the wrong place. He also told us that our motion detector was not working. THE SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO NOTIFY YOU IF A PART IS MALFUNCTIONING OR NOT WORKING! This was a complete failure of the security system they recommended and installed. THEY FAILED TO DO THEIR JOB! We are now living with hurricane shutters up and no peace of mind that this system is going to protect us in any dangerous situation. When calling the corporate office to get answers we were met with we'll call you back or someone will get back with you. They did NOT call when they promised they would and only called back after several attempts to call the corporate headquarters where we were on circular hold with multiple operators and eventually hung up on. When we did get to speak to speak to someone who said he had authority over the district manager, he told me they could not be held responsible for what they technicians said or did. When expressing our discontent and that we felt we should go to the Better Business Bureau, they told us they they paid for the high rating with the BBB and that the BBB would just close the case because Devcon said they weren't at fault. When we threatened to go to news channel consumer advocacy groups, we were told that they were ineffectual. We never even got an apology from this company. Why have we been paying them to do a job that they did not do? DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH DEVCON.
