Professional, Skilled, and Kind 2/11/2011

Dr. Kristi Donley (formerly Detwiler) is the best. I couldn’t want anything more from this endodontist. She worked with me to improve my bite. And when I had an emergency, she came in early, did an emergency root canal, and worked with my dentist to replace my broken crown. The staff was kind, comforting, and informative and kept constant watch for pain (there never was any!). I was in and out in two hours. The price was very fair. I highly recommend her. And my regular dentist was impressed by her work, as well. more

Not all endodontists are created equal... 12/4/2009

I felt compelled to write this after reading the reviews complaining about price. ...folks, you get what you pay for... My adult teeth grew in with stains due to the medical community not understanding how antibiotics administered to children can affect tooth development. As such, I have 'weak teeth' and have at least 7 or 8 root canals (meaning, lots of experience). Unfortunately for me, I've had root canals done where the Dr. failed to clean out the inside of the tooth properly, causing me to eventually have my root canals redone. Trust me when I tell you, this is not something you want to experience! I eventually found a dentist and an Endodontist that were superior practitioners. After learning the difference between a good dentist and a bad/average one, I learned money is less important than making sure the job is done right. Unfortunately, I recently had to relocate and start over. When my wife was told to get a root canal, I began a search in Issaquah for an Endodontist who is trained to use the latest equipment in their practice. Dr. Detwiler, (now Dr. Donnelly) was the only one in the area that has the capability I required. Specifically, she uses an advanced microscope rather than a common dental ""bannana light"" to light up and peer into your tooth while she cleans and builds the root inserts. This allows for a superior result when cleaning the nerve tissue out of your tooth. Also, I believe Dr. Donnelly is a newer dentist and is working to get her practice listed with more insurance providers - we've had no problem with our insurance... My family has gone to her for 3 root canals. She's been great... My son had a pretty messed up tooth and has spent an inordinate amount of time in her chair as well. Again, because of my extensive experience with these procedures, I'm telling you, time should be the least of your worries! Getting it right is MOST important and if Dr. Donnelly's biggest drawback is too much time in the chair, it seems to me it is because she's erring on the side of caution. If your Dentist is referring you to Dr. Donnelly, I have a high opinion of your dentist! Because many of them might prefer to send you to their long-time associate rather than a new-comer with superior technique. My dentist wasn't happy when I refused his referral... Save money at your own risk. Its a painful and expensive lesson I'd like to not have experienced. Dr Donnelly in Issaquah gets a top rating in my book. BTW, her receptionist IS Great! Easily the most helpful person I've ever met in a dentist office. Pros: Uses best practices more

Good work, but not cheap! 12/8/2008

I had a similar experience as cascadia. They were able to get me in quickly, but it took 2 visits (2 hrs each), and cost $1454 in Nov 08. \r The receptionist is fabulous, but it was a rather pricy experience, especially since my insurance didn't cover the work. \r My regular dentist made the appointment for me the same day as I saw him. That was good.\r My mouth is still a little sore two weeks later, but that entire area of my mouth had work done on it within a few days, so I'm not sure it's the root canal that is still hurting, or one of the other teeth. more

I was referred to Dr. Donnelly (Dr. Detwiler's married name) even though she is not a PPO for my provider. 11/5/2008

I haven't been treated by Dr. Donnelly (Dr. Detwiler's married name), but I wanted to comment because I was referred to Dr. Donnelly even though she is not a PPO for my provider. This is really a matter for my dentist to explain, but I feel I am perhaps being milked by my dentist. It took all of three minutes to find an endodontist in the area who is a PPO for my provider.\r

\r I gave Dr. Donnely an average rating so that I don't skew her overall rating. more

Sweet Dentist, Great Receptionist but very very expensive and time consumming 2/20/2008

I was sent to Dr Detwiler for a root canal and they were great about fitting me right in. Her receptionist Marcy was really great but the procedure took 2 visits of 2 hours each and cost $1300 and the odd thing is that I only saw one other person the whole time. This was for a tooth that didn't have any evidence of decay or infection on x-ray. She seems fairly young so perhaps she just is still learning but it felt very weird to spend four hours laying in someone lap and not have either her or her assistant make a single comment to me. I was actually crying at one point and they were oblivious to it. \r \r If you have great insurance or money is no object and you don't mind being treated like an object then go for it but a root canal in a molar by a regular dentist should only run about $800. I am not sure what I got for the extra $500 for a very straight forward simple root canal. Technically the work was fine but emotionally I have never felt so objectified in my life. I was just a tooth. Pros: easy to get in, free parking, Cons: expensive! she never tells you what she is doing, it took twice as long as my last root canal more
