Amazing cakes 4/5/2010

What more could you ask for in a lunch spot? french vanilla cakes was fabulous, brownie was to die for. My friends and I shared desserts following lunch and it was a nice treat. Eating a healthy veggie wrap followed by chocolate cake should be a daily experience. Pros: Great chocolate, decadent french vanilla, vegetarian wraps more

Very good and friendly! 8/23/2009

As an out of town customer, I was looking for a cake or two for my husband's dinner party in town. I was pleased to find a great website online before we went to Houston that outlined all of the prices and details that I needed. I could have even ordered it online and picked it up. But for fear of never being able to find it, I deceided to go to the store. It was alittle difficult to find, as the website had an old address and apparently the cafe moved a few streets down. However, when I walked in, I got great service. I ordered 2 whole cakes, the Oreo and the Chocolate Raspberry Sensation and was given frozen cakes for that evening (bc they were more fresh). The raspberry thawed in time and the Oreo had to stay chilled. I was a bit disappointed with the Oreo having thought there were Oreo's instead (and tere may have been but not in my piece) and would've probably been better with actual cake and not so much mousse. HOWEVER, the raspberry was sooo good! It was not dry like the previous review, so maybe the frizen ones are more fresh. The dinner guests loved the cake (and candles I got there) and so did my husband :) Will go back again!!! Pros: Great atmosphere, service and cakes Cons: Moved so GPS wouldnt pick it up and got old address from web more

Look Better than they taste 9/26/2008

The desserts all look great, but I always find the cakes to be coarse and a little dry. I have eaten here 5 or 6 times. The frosting is always good but they could do much better on the cake batter. Every slice of cake I have ever bought has been very coarse and not light and fluffy. The cupcakes fare much better. Maybe the whole cakes are better. Pros: Great selection Cons: dry cake, had to wait in line for awhile at lunch more

best cake ever! 3/17/2008

Oh the cakes here are SO good. I have never had better. I haven't tried the food yet, but intend to. My sister and I shared a slice of chocolate cheesecake. My other sister had the classic diner cake. My brother had the strawberry cream cake. We couldn't keep our forks off each other's cakes! Definitely worth trying! more

Best Lemon Cake EVER 2/10/2008

Dessert Gallery is a favorite place of mine when my sweet tooth kicks in. They have the best lemon cake I have ever had in my entire life. Sweet, and tart lemon curd filling with a perfect icing. I ordered cupcakes for my wedding from here and my guests loved them. Great size, quality and value for what I paid. The sandwiches here are amazing also. I recommend the Turkey Bombay. The staff is always very nice and generous! more

Best CupCakes EVER!!! 12/11/2007

We ordered cupcakes for a co-workers baby shower. O.M.G. They were the best cupcakes EVER! We got the chocolate, raspberry & white cupcakes. While they were all good, the white one was the yummiest I have ever had, and I'm usually a fan of chocolate. I was in heaven the whole time. Definate Winner! Pros: Delish! Good for office gatherings, and very pretty Cons: A little pricey more

Disappointing food & coffee, desserts not bad. 10/3/2007

After hearing rave reviews, two friends and I went out of our way to get to the Dessert Gallery. Sadly, we decided to order food, instead of just dessert. The menu looks impressive, but the wraps were rather disappointing. (Although the cake was nice). The iced caramel latte I got was a poor excuse for coffee. It was made badly and the coffee lacked any flavor. Although the decor is adorable, I wouldn't recommend it. Pros: Decor Cons: Food, parking more

Best Italian Cream Cake in Houston 2/1/2007

For my birthday, I was in search of the "best Italian Cream cake" in Houston; and I believe I found it. The service was great - I ordered online and received a call the next day to confirm the order. The graphics online look like the actual cake. I expected a two layer cake and the cake was three...exceeding my expectations. The cake was so good guests took cake home, and I almost did not eat a slice. more

great place to grab dessert 11/23/2006

love how they display their cakes for all to see - quite an enticing eye-candy feast, indeed. they have an extensive list of desserts - mostly cakes. it's a real sweet tooth experience and definitely a place to go if you are still hungry after dinner. the ambience is fun-loving and laid-back ... like visiting a fond childhood memory. surely won't disappoint! hint: also a great date place* Pros: cakes galore!, fun-loving ambience Cons: parking more

it's a piece of cake, 11/12/2006

to bake a pretty cake. I've only tried the carrot cake, but it is the best I've EVER had. Huge, moist, and full of pecans. Good for special occasions (too expensive for evey day) more

What a disappointment! 11/7/2006

I heard about this wonderful new bakery with huge yummy cakes and wanted to try it out. I've been there 4 different times over an 8 month period because I hate to pass judgement on the off chance that I happened to have ordered the one thing on the menu that was bad. I have been consistently disappointed. 8..( I've tried about 10 different cakes -- not a pig, just brought friends so we could share and they were subpar. I don't think my standards are too high, they just all taste the same -- like sugared cardboard. Variety meant they added cocoa to the same recipe for chocolate and/or slapped on some flavored cream or icing. The nontraditional cakes were better but not fantastic either -- something I would pay $2 for at a supermarket when desperate. Pros: Nice service people. Cons: Bad dessert, expensive, no seating more

dessert 11/2/2006

The best fudge pie your mouth will ever touch; smooth slices melt in your mouth. This is always a must during the holidays. There are many desserts here that can be given out as great gifts; you will not be dissapointed. more

best cake anywhere 10/27/2006

All I can say about this place is every dessert is to die for. They have anything and everything sweet you could hope for. We always get a slice of cake but the cookies are really good as well. more

Great Corporate boxed lunches, Best Service, Great attitude 10/3/2006

I've been doing business with them for years. They are fast, friendly, and best of all the food is great. more

Great environment 6/17/2006

Every time I go to the Dessert Gallery, I spend twice the time there I intended! The environment is conducive to sitting around with a group of friends and chatting about anything and everything. It is made for hanging out and the cakes, while there is not a large selection, are excellent. The Dessert Gallery provides board games, which are fun at any age to play with a bunch of your friends. Being a Vietnamese person, I was impressed to see they had Vietnamese coffee on the menu. When I tried it, it was a little weaker than I expected but quite good. The decor is fun and whimsical, and I recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have a fun evening with friends or family. Pros: great hangout spot, board games, great cake Cons: hard to pull out of parking more

moist cake and amazing icing 7/15/2005

we love this place and stop in at least once a week. real food is good, but the cakes are wonderful. they have a huge selection. there are great complex cakes with multiple flavors and textures, but don't underestimate the simple cakes. my roomate and i are avid bakers and we have yet to find or make better versions of the standard favorites - yellow cake with chocolate frosting, layers of all vanilla, and layers of all chocolate. the cake is moist and flavorful, and the icing is to die for. a great place to hang out no matter how old are young you are. Pros: fun atmosphere, freindly staff, open late on weekends more

Yummy Yummy 5/10/2005

The cakes were so good. We drove by and saw the place and stopped. I am so glad we did. They have a great selection of desserts. more

Unforgettable Birthday 3/11/2005

I have lunch here every now and then and it's like visiting a friends house who makes lunch for you. Everything is so fresh and wonderful. My son's birthday was this weekend and I ordered cookies with his face on them with a Happy Birthday wish. What a huge success! Every mom at the party was so impressed and asked where we got them. What a great idea! I would highly recommend this place! Pros: Fresh, Personalized Service, Unique Items more

Best German Chocolate Ever!!!!! 2/20/2003

I bought a German chocolate cake for my boss's b-day it was the best I've ever tasted. This place is really special to get B-day cakes from. Pros: delicious, large proportions Cons: hidden location, kind of pricey more

Unimpressed 11/20/2002

The desserts were rather pricy, and there was a small selection (consisting mostly of cakes that I felt I could make at home). However, the service is friendly and the enviroinment is nice. Pros: good service Cons: parking, overpriced, desserts are ok more
