South Carolina in Vegas 3/2/2012

I played this course last weekend. Couldn't believe how immaculate it was. Fairways were in perfect condition, not to mention the greens as well. I usually play other courses around Las Vegas, but this one was recommended to me by the Concierge at Mandalay Bay. I was on a budget, since most of my $$$ was tied up with the blackjack table, but was glad to see that this particular establishment was easy on my pockets. For the amount I paid for, I couldn't believe the shape the course was in. They even had a 2 tiered, automatic ball tee, driving range. That automatic ball tee was the most coolest thing ever. I didn't have to reach down and put the ball on the tee once. Made the strain on my knees and back much easier. On the course, I noticed that they had wooden planks lined up around their bunkers and later found out that this course was designed by Pete Dye himself. Great course, Great rates, and Great staff. I couldn't have been happier playing at a course that would've costed me an arm and a leg. Thanks to the Mandalay Bay Concierge for the recommendation and thank you to Desert Pines for again, making my trip to Vegas memorable! BTW, after your round, I recommend getting the Montecristo Sandwich at the Clubhouse. It's to ""Dye"" for. ;) more

A Must Play When Visiting VEGAS! 1/16/2012

Beautiful lush emerald green fairways, greens that roll true and the friendliest staff I've ever encountered when playing a resort course. What I really enjoyed about this course were the tight fairways and water that plays on nearly half the holes. While the course isn't very long it certainly requires crafty iron play! Highly recommended and in my book a must play when golfing in Las Vegas. more

Great Golf Course 4/30/2010

This was a great golf course. Hundreds of Pine Trees with some water that made it a very fun golf course. For the dollar amount I paid it was a steal. This was a great Dye Golf Design, and the staff treated my guests and I very well. more

Great course! 4/2/2010

I had a great experience at Desert Pines. I have played almost every course in Las Vegas and I personally feel that Desert Pines is the best bang for the buck. The layout is great and the condition was perfect. I would suggest this course to all my friends. more

Outstanding Course - Pristine Conditions 3/24/2010

I just visited Las Vegas for the first round of March Madness and played Desert PInes Golf Club (3/17/2010). I must say I was impressed! Desert Pines came at the recommendation from a friend who played it earlier in the year. The course was in amazing conditions, the greens rolled very true, the customer service was top notch and to top it offer our group managed to save 20% off the posted rate because we booked through their website - WaltersGolf . com. I look forward to heading back to Vegas next year and playing Desert Pines again! Highly recommended! Pros: Great Course!!! Stellar Customer Service more

A Change of Pace 10/6/2005

Desert Pines is a nice get away. They have a really nice driving range that is double decker and automatic machines that feed you the balls. The driving range is really nice looking and it is really cheep to get a bucket of balls. The pro shop is nice and helpful. They will help you find the right club for you to try out. more

  • When you come to Vegas you want to experience some things that you usually don't do back home. Unless you are from the Carolinas, playing golf at the Desert Pines Golf Club is one of those experiences. Couple that with all the amenities you would expect at your private country club back home and you're in for a real treat.

You will know Desert Pines is for golfers when you first enter the clubhouse through the front double doors. Take a moment and view the display of high quality framed photos of legends of the game from the 30's and 40'. Walter Hagen and Francis Ouimet (1934) are joined there by Champion Claude Harmon at the 1948 Masters on Augusta National's #13, pant legs rolled up and hitting out of wet marsh area. There is Bobby Jones smoking a cigar and dapper Gene Sarazan sitting on the grass as a spectator. Desert Pines was built for, and is run by, people who love and respect this great game.

Opening in February of 1997, the course underwent extensive renovation in the summer of 2007. All 18 greens were completely rebuilt and topped with new bent grass putting surfaces that provide a TOUR quality aspect to the round with speeds planned to roll around a 10. Aesthetic and ecological enhancements were also made.

Golf Digest Top 50 Resort Course - This is a fun course playing to 6,810 yards from the tips. It has a Slope/Rating of 70.4/122 and offers three sets of tees and a par of 71. Generous mounding separates the fairways and can often result in lucky breaks as a hastily stuck ball can bounce back into the fairway.

Plenty of bunkers, water and some narrow fairway stretches are great equalizers to provide a fair challenge to both long ball hitters and those with a good short game. This is a course that rewards good course management skills and provides players of all abilities a fun and enjoyable experience ... one in which you may well use every club in your bag.

The greens are challenging and are reflective of the "Dye-abolical" contouring for which Dye-designs are renown. There are even railroad tie bunkers, tricky undulation and plenty of breaks to keep your putting eye sharp. View our hole-by-hole video tour of Desert Pines today.

A little unknown secret unless you've experienced it firsthand is that the wind can pick up ferociously out of nowhere, at any time in Las Vegas. There is nothing more unpleasant than getting a couple holes into your round and experiencing fierce 20-30mph wind gusts. That is not a worry at Desert Pines - the property sits lower than any other Las Vegas Golf Course and has thousands of mature pine trees lining each and every fairway that act as your personal force field when Mother Nature imposes a sneak attack of sorts on your Las Vegas golf vacation.. The Golf Shop (in the clubhouse)

This is where you check in for your round. The shop carries all the last minute items you may need, like balls, gloves, socks, hats, sunscreen and cigars. It also carries a complete selection of clubs, bags, logo'd items, divot tools and some fun on-course betting games.

For apparel, the shop carries a large selection of both men's and women's wear from name brand manufactures like Tommy Bahama,Greg Norman,Ben Hogan,Cutter & Buck and Ashcroft. They also carry the Adidas ClimaCool line and shoes from FootJoy,Adidas and Callaway. A private fitting room allows guests to try on clothing articles in privacy. Additionally the shop carries a wide selection of gift and novelty items like women's visors with the Club logo in sequins (after all it's Vegas) as well as jewelry and other unique items. They can even arrange to have your gifts drop-shipped for you.

The golf shop offers Las Vegas rental clubs of the latest in Callaway equipment: Callaway Razr X set of irons,Callaway Octane series fairway woods, and an Odyssey White Hot putter. Additionally they rent FootJoy shoes.

For those wishing to post their score, there is a Southern Nevada Handicap Network/USGA Posting Terminal in the golf shop.

    The Clubhouse

The clubhouse also features a restaurant, meeting facility and lockers. Duffers Bar & Grill serves breakfast and lunch and features a full-service bar with cable TVs. The Champions Room is ideal for private functions.
