Desert Valley Therapy 3/28/2012

My experience at Desert Therapy has been very good. Friendly staff when was signing in for appointments. Great therapist and technitions who are willing to help a person get better. I came on the wrong day and was treated as if I was on the right day. They worked me in just like my regular appointment without coplaints. I have been coming once a week for 3 weeks and already see improvements. Also asked could give me exercises at home and they were more than willing to do so. The place is clean and a beautiful view. Needs Improvement 1/26/2011

I was initially evaluated by a very nice Physical Therapist. But, my next 4 visits were scheduled to be with a Physical ""Assistant"" for exercises. My complaints: Physical Therapist didn't even say hello or ask how the treatment/exercises were going on my future visits. I brought in my x-rays results, gave them to the assistant, and was hoping the PT explain them to me or at least show me where in my back (on the artificial spine they have in the office) was messed up. Didn't happen. Also, the Physical Assistant was trying to work with 3-4 people at once doing different exercises in different locations. When I was finished with my first specified exercises, she was just helping the 2nd patient get going on theirs. I felt uncomfortable just sitting there for 5-10 minuntes between exercises until she came back to get me doing my next exercise. I was jealous when I saw a another PT working one-on-one with her patient whose condition seemed no worse than mine. I think that's my biggest complaint - the actual PT's need to work more with their patients and the assistants should be assisting the PT more than the patient. The PT's should be with the patient more often during the sessions. I cancelled future appointments and they didn't even ask why... more

Extremely Disappointed 9/11/2010

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I received from this company. My primary care physician referred me to Desert Valley Therapy. When I called to schedule my evaluation I was asked to arrive thirty minutes prior to my 9:00 AM appointment to fill out paperwork. I arrived early, as requested, and completed the new patient paperwork within fifteen minutes. I remained in the waiting room for over an hour. When I was finally seen, I felt the evaluating therapist's time was divided. I was left in a small room, with the curtains drawn for fifteen minutes in the middle of my evaluation, while she tended to another patient. A week later I returned for my first appointment. After sitting in the waiting room past my scheduled appointment time, I was called back by a therapist along with another patient. The therapist started us both out on hand bikes. A female ?Exercise Specialist? then took over for the therapist. She randomly advised me to do stretches as if I were a returning patient, saying things like, ?Um, go ahead and do your . . . Trap stretches.? I tried to inform her that this was my first appointment and that I was not familiar with the stretches or treatment plan, but she was quite distracted playing a Scrabble-type game on her iPhone with another ?Exercise Specialist.? This went on for the duration of my appointment. I was then returned to the therapist for brief soft tissue manipulation. Throughout my appointment, the staff kept referring to my shoulder. I found this quite confusing, as I not referred to them for anything related to my shoulders. After discussing the above issues with my physician, I called their office to inquire about filing a complaint. My call was directed to their HR department. I explained my problem to the woman who answered the phone in HR. She was very apologetic and told me that she would take a message for her supervisor, who was on another call. I never received a call back from anyone affiliated with Desert Valley Therapy. Extremely disappointed with the level of service I received, I mailed a letter to their main office on August 24, detailing my concerns and requesting a refund of my co-payments. I requested that they respond by September 10, but have not received a response. more

Front Desk Fails 1/8/2010

Since Day 1 when I entered this place, there was never a friendly ""Hello"", ""How are you?"", or even a smile from the front desk office staff. They always seem frustrated and not happy to be there. The particular day that I was waiting in the lobby, all I heard were 2 girls discussing their wild night out and that they hadn't had time to sleep before work. You choose what to do within your personal life, but it is so unprofessional to be blabbing about that at work in front of patients. Each time I go to check out, nobody ever acknowledges me or asks if I would like to schedule another appointment. I have to stand there for 5 minutes to get someone's attention. The Pro side: nice physical therapist assistants. Everyone in the back seems to be nice, it's just a shame the front desk hasn't caught on yet. Pros: Therapy assistants are nice & there is adequate equipment . Cons: Front Desk Office Staff are so impolite! more
